A fan stumbles upon a rare find of an unused Xbox Live code from 2004 when buying the limited edition Halo 2 Steel Book second-hand.

An Xbox fan found a copy of Halo 2 limited edition with an unused Xbox Live code from 2004. Halo 2 is considered one of the greatest multiplayer shooters of all time.

It was recently announced that Halo 2 The E3 demo is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which is a part of the game that the public didn’t get a chance to play. However, for fans of the franchise, the original game on Xbox remains the purest way to experience Halo and Halo 2. Fans will need an original Xbox and a physical copy of the game, which can be found online and in select stores. A Reddit user by the name of HumanClay96 did just that, but also found something interesting in the copy of Halo 2 that they bought.

HumanClay96 took to Reddit to post a copy of their Halo 2 limited edition steel book. But even if the game is redeemed, the Xbox Live code from 2004 is not. An Xbox Live code is a free subscription to Xbox Live that was sometimes included with physical copies of games. It was a big deal at the time, because the Xbox Live code is nostalgic for fans who remember Halo 2 as an industry-changing game.

There’s a lot of value to be had from collecting physical games, especially when it comes to nostalgia for older games. However, nostalgia is unnecessary here – the limited edition steel case of Halo 2 is just as modern as it was when it was released on the original Xbox. The classic Halo the games are highlights of the franchise’s history, which makes the Steel Book and the unused Xbox Live code much more meaningful to gamers. The community comments on the Reddit post comment on the good old days and if there is an expiration date for the Xbox Live code. The buyer responded by saying he had the same question, but didn’t want to clear it.

Halo 2 is among the best of Halo multiplayer with Halo 2: Anniversary edition, the remake of Halo 2available as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The collection would have a higher player count than Infinite Halopartly because the collection includes all Halo games, which can now be played with their optimization upgrades on Xbox Series X and S.

Halo 2 is available on PC and Xbox.
