Check how to change the default install location of the Xbox app

Microsoft is finally updating the Xbox and Microsoft Store apps on Windows so that you can specify a folder where you want to install your games. The change will be available soon to people installing the Xbox Insider Hub app, and according to The Verge, it should be in beta before Halo Infinite releases on December 8. The update lets you choose a hard drive and a folder within it as the location to install your game. Like any other program on your PC, you can access folders without Windows marking them as hidden, as is currently the case with the WindowsApps folder.

The change removes the barriers Windows uses to keep you from accessing your game files, preventing people from installing and using mods. Some games currently allow mods, but only allow you access to a dedicated mod folder. With this change, you can install mods directly into your game files like on Steam. It is not clear whether updating the Xbox and Microsoft Store app fixes a persistent issue where Game Pass games are not fully uninstalled and your hard drive space is not reclaimed. PC Game Pass subscribers will surely appreciate this change as it makes it much easier to manage your files as you frequently install games.

Change the default game install storage in the Xbox app

To specify where to download and install Xbox games in Windows 11, follow these steps:

  • Open the Xbox app.
  • Click on the profile menu at the top right and select Settings options.
  • Click General.
  • In the “Game installation options” section, select the drive to install the default games.
  • (Optional) Check the Ask Me installation options for each installation option.

After you complete the steps, the files will be stored in the location you specified the next time you install a game. If you selected the option to notify you every time, you will be asked where to store the game first. to download it.

Outer Wilds now available on Xbox Game Pass

The Outer Wilds is one of the best games in recent memory, so you should definitely play it on Game Pass.

Outdoor wild village

As promised, Outer Wilds is now available on Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass for PC. Xbox made the announcement a few days ago, and we’re just going to remind you that you should be playing Outer Wilds if you subscribe to Xbox’s game subscription service.

Why? Well, Outer Wilds has won numerous awards including the 2020 Game of the Year from the DICE Awards and the Game Developer Choice Awards. It also won Best Game, Game Design, and Best New Original Property from the British Academy Games Awards that year as well. And then there are the various posts that have given Outer Wilds a great review score (ahem, including this one), and the many users who have given Outer Wilds rave reviews online (“extremely positive” is the way Steam users describe it).

Related: 10 Best Alien Civilizations In Video Games

If peer pressure isn’t enough to sell you, how about just describing the game and having your own mind. Outer Wilds is a time loop game created before time loops were cool. Originally released in 2019 by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive (an editor who really knows how to pick winners), Outer Wilds tells the story of a lone explorer stranded on a planet in a system where the sun is on the point of becoming a supernova. The explorer must search the system for clues to an ancient civilization before the sun explodes and resets the loop.

There are ways to die before the sun becomes a supernova, but that will only reset the loop sooner.

Going deeper into the history of the game will only spoil the surprise, so we recommend that you download this game again now on Game Pass. Or you can sign up for Game Pass on Xbox and PC and then download it. Or you can buy it, but then you’ll have to pay for the game. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but I tend to like keeping my dollars in my digital wallet.

These are your favorite auto video games

Image of the article titled These Are Your Favorite Auto Video Games

If we are talking about pure playtime then I guess mine would be Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. I have hundreds of hours combined in these two.

True, there are truckers who spend long hours away from their families, sleeping in the only barely comfortable cabins of their trucks for days and weeks, traveling thousands of miles a year to earn a living for their families and pay the crush the debt they incurred just for the privilege of doing so, and they would be shocked to learn that some people actually ENJOY playing a (sorry, “simulator”) game of that activity. Most likely could not understand the call.

I couldn’t explain this allure to them, as I don’t quite understand it myself, but too bad if there isn’t something oddly captivating, cathartic, and calming about virtual freight transport across the EU and (currently only westward) US in ETS2 and ATS.

On the other end of the spectrum of being tossed around in a full-scale car, there is Euro Truck Simulator. Although the series has both US and European entries, the EU option still seems to be the more popular of the two. Maybe that’s because, when you’re sitting in the cab of a semi-trailer for hours on end, you want landscapes that don’t match what you see out the window on your daily commute. Or maybe European cab trucks are just cooler.

Mass Effect 3: The History Of The Happy Ending Mod Explained

Although it is technically possible for Shepard to survive in Mass effect 3The canonical endings of, you don’t get to watch him reunite with his crew or really do much after the game’s controversial conclusions. This altered ending resolves that emotional oversight by showing Shepard and the surviving members of the game. ‘Normandy’s crew (including relevant love interests) interacting during a memorial service at the end of the game.

Like most of the other new content in this mod, there’s no denying that this footage isn’t officially part of the original game. Despite some (relatively minor) production issues, it’s a simple and surprisingly effective way to get everyone back together.

The Crucible in the Happy Ending Mod of Mass Effect 3 has been redesigned to be closer to the original vision of writer Chris Hepler

Although there are many elements of Mass effect 3It’s ending that fans ultimately felt they were rushed and undercooked, the functionality of the “Crucible” as a plot device has always been a particularly passionate point of contention. Described by many fans (including the creator of this mod) as a bit of “space magic,” the original version of the Crucible seemed at times to be a way for it. ME team to channel the epic, choice-based story of the game into a few possible endings.

However, that’s not necessarily what happened (or at least that’s not what was always supposed to happen). In fact, the Happy Ending mod restores writer Chris Hepler’s original vision for the Crucible, which essentially argues that the device was designed to destroy Reapers only and could be used in a way that would allow most synthetic lives. within its explosion radius to survive.

While we’re not sure exactly how Hepler’s ending would have gone (he never got to officially present it and only talked about it after the fact), this mod at least plays with the basic idea of what to choose. to destroy the Reapers doesn’t ‘That necessarily means having to sacrifice Geth and EDI as well.

Mass Effect 3’s happy ending mod removes the child star

While I’ve seen fans defend Mass effect 3the original ending of (or at least aspects of it), I’ve rarely seen people say they liked this game’s “Star Child”: an elaborate exhibition vehicle whose story, purpose and design is introduced (or at least developed) a little too late in the game to feel like anything but another way for the writers to start wrapping up as quickly as possible.

Battlefield 2042 is free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers for a limited time

Battlefield 2042 is free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers for a limited time as part of Microsoft’s Free Play Days program.

Battlefield 2042

The next batch of games available to try during Xbox Free Play days have been revealed, and one of the titles on offer is particularly impressive. Released only a few weeks ago, EA and DICE Battlefield 2042 will be available for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to download and play from January 6 to 9.

A similar initiative to Valve’s Steam Free Weekend specials, Microsoft regularly works with developers of all sizes to give gamers a chance to check out games they may have initially missed. Highlighting everything from major AAA exits to independent under the radar exits, there is usually something for every type of gamer. With a slew of new games to try out more or less every weekend, the service is a great bonus for Xbox Live Gold members.

Having said that, it is quite rare to see games of Battlefield 2042the caliber of appears on the platform. Similar big budget shooters like Ghost Recon: breakpoint and Borderlands 3 were made available during recent Free Play Days events, but they’ve both been out for over two years at this point. Electronic Arts might be trying to get as many eyes as possible for the new release, but the attention of the gaming community doesn’t seem like anything missing from the title.

Battlefield 2042 Ranked Specialists functionality

Battlefield 2042 would sell relatively well despite negative player reviews. Pulling 4.23 million copies in its launch week, it surpassed Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 in the first week’s sales, and it was only about half a million less than Battlefield 3record selling brand of. Always, Battlefield 2042 is entirely dependent on its online multiplayer, so offering it to players who already subscribe to Microsoft’s online gaming service makes sense.

Other games in the Battlefield franchises such as Battlefield V, Battlefield 1, and Battlefield 4 were offered sporadically over select weekends in 2021, possibly in the hope that those titles would point new players to the latest entry in the series, which debuted in November. However, Battlefield 2042 launched in a significantly less stable condition than any of the titles previously offered in previous Free Play Days periods, and newcomers to the series may be put off by the unpolished product offered by Electronic Arts.

It may also be a measure intended to inflate the number of concurrent players who have dropped rapidly in recent weeks. The game’s player base has shrunk significantly just two weeks after launch, and the publisher may think bringing the game to Xbox’s free-to-play initiative may help stabilize. Battlefield‘s now diminished community.

Games Inbox: Is it worth it to own both a PS5 and an Xbox Series X?

Does it make sense to have both? (photo: metro)

The Thursday Inbox wants to see a game based on The Book of Boba Fett, as a reader dreams of a Dino Crisis remake.

To participate in the discussions yourself, send an email [email protected]

Double whammy
Happy New Year everyone on GameCentral! The gaming gods were kind to me this Christmas and I am now the proud owner of a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, marking my entry into the somewhat grand era of consoles. I have both standing vertically, because although the PlayStation 5 fits into the unit, I didn’t think it would be able to breathe, and the Xbox Series X is such an odd shape for a console that IKEA was clearly caught off guard.

My first impressions of both have been very positive, with the DualSense and the Astro game room being the highlights so far. I can understand why you found the derivative of the game (but still enjoyed it), but for me it was a seamless introduction to the new console and controller, while celebrating all that came before.

The way the trigger feedback is altered during different actions is great, and if Nathan Drake or Kratos don’t climb like monkeys in subsequent games, I’ll be disappointed. Hopefully, DualSense’s unique features will be used by developers rather than being quickly forgotten.

Overall, things look bright for both consoles.

Happy gift
Hope everyone had a happy holiday season. I sure did, because I have a PlayStation 5 and a copy of Returnal and have been enjoying it ever since. The game is brutal but for me as an arcade shooter lover it is a more enjoyable experience than Dark Souls games and I love the tone and atmosphere of the Lovecraftian menace.

I could have done a bit more storytelling / characterization, as I think they play it a bit too secretive, but overall it’s a great game. It could probably be done on PlayStation 4, but it does. works great on my PlayStation 5 and with Astro’s game room it seems worth it.

With Horizon Forbidden West expected relatively soon and news of a spin-off for PlayStation VR2, I would say the future looks very bright. I love that Sony started with the news early this year and I hope we have a steady supply now as they have been very quiet throughout the second half of last year.

Long, long wait
I watched The Boba Fett Book and once again it’s very obvious how well the criminal underbelly of the Star Wars universe is suitable for a video game. So it’s kinda boring that no one has ever really tried to make a game based on this.

I’m willing to bet that Ubisoft’s open world game is set on Tatooine, with the Mandalorian or Boba Fett, but they can do so much more than that. I really want a bounty hunter / smuggler simulator where I can create my own character and being linked to a show is going to stop that.

I really hope something official is announced soon as it’s been a while since a new Star Wars game has been released and I’m getting nervous. Especially since Star Wars: Eclipse is years away / by a bad developer.

Email your comments to: [email protected]

Free Christmas
I hope GameCentral and all of their readers had a good Christmas. Hope you managed to get all the free games this Christmas on the Epic Games Store every day. I forgot a few days to get them, but I know they will be free again like they did before. The free game on the Epic Games Store is Gods Will Fall starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 6.

Just finished: Shadow Of The Colossus remake on PlayStation 5. No spoilers, but I missed a lot of the ending when I played it on PlayStation 2, when I got knocked on the door. ‘a friend during the end.

CG: He was not a friend.

Not true
I am writing with a request. I see a lot of social media posts and responses that make me feel like I’m reading a dystopian version of the Emperor’s New Clothes, except it’s called the Emperor’s New Tokens.

There seems to be a consensus among those who don’t understand how complex the games are that they are going to be able to transfer their favorite sword from For Honor to New World. You can replace any of these games with whatever you like, as they are almost just as absurd.

Could you draw attention to that and perhaps write an article about the myriad intricacies of properly functioning an item in one game, let alone porting it into another for use by a single individual?

I’ve seen people say that even if a game stops, they have the item forever, so they can use it in new titles.

I think this lie is being used to sell NFTs to the masses, who don’t know what they stand for.

I feel completely disheartened by the latest announcement from Square Enix. What the hell is happening ? I feel like reality is collapsing with these horrible things. How can so many people want to sue crypto and everything associated with it, knowing the extent of the damage it causes, let alone the morality of profiting from NFTs.

CG: We’ve never heard this before, but as you say, it’s nonsense. Although we suspect it’s possible that publishers like Ubisoft could make them compatible between some of their own games, as many have very similar elements.

Prehistoric remake
I loved the news about the Resident Evil fan remake – Code: Veronica, although I have a bad feeling Capcom is going to shut it down before its release. What I would have really liked to see is a remake of Dino Crisis. I know the most recent rumors indicate this won’t happen, but maybe a fan remake can fill the void?

The only one that I know of released this video a while back, but as you can see, it’s just about Regina. I would love to see a new Dino Crisis. I just don’t understand why Capcom isn’t starting over.

Heart Story Engine Z
I see that Sony has just confirmed the name of the second generation of VR headset.

Which made me think, what would an Xbox VR headset be called? I’m assuming Xbox Goggles 1 VR Series 360 One XS. It may be too simple.

Long-time reader, but has not written since the days of teletext. I have a game backlog that goes back this far.

Thank you for the wonderful work over the years.

CG: This name actually describes the product, there is no way they are using it.

Reality backwards
I’m glad that more information is provided by Sony regarding PlayStation VR2, but the only thing I’m really interested in right now (in an effort to sell my current kit while it’s still worth a bob or two) is to find out if this will be backward compatible with PlayStation VR1 games.

It would be fantastic if it did, but since PlayStation VR2 won’t rely on a plug-in camera to track lights on the headset and controllers, according to PlayStation VR1, you have to wonder if the technology will be that different than it does. it would be. beyond a simple patch to allow backward compatibility.

I don’t want to have an entirely separate headset to indulge in the weird gameplay of Astro Bot or Resident Evil 7.
Meestah bull
PS: on the subject of backwards compatibility. Reader Beems lamented the inability to connect his PlayStation 2 to a modern television. He’s a bit of a rabbit hole topic, but he might want to check out the products sold by Retro gaming cables and RetroTINK, the latter which another reader mentioned a few weeks ago.

Inbox also works
The PlayStation VR2 sounds great and all, but it also seems very expensive. I don’t see how it’s less than £ 300 and probably a little more. Guess the idea is they’re not mainstream no matter what, so why not do it all?

Since Guardians Of The Galaxy seems to have been a bit of a flop (very unfairly in my opinion), I wonder what’s going to happen to this team? A sequel seems unlikely to me, but I would hate to see them go their separate ways and would like them to create something new that maybe an original IP.

Popular Star Wars game now available for free

Popular Star wars game is now available for free, for some. Between a rejuvenation Star Wars Battlefront 2, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Star Wars Squadrons, Star wars fans have been eating pretty well lately. And it looks set to continue courtesy of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, Star Wars Eclipse, and other upcoming games set in the iconic sci-fi franchise. The link between the future and the recent past of Star wars the games are Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, and for good reason. Not only is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order good enough, it’s now available to play for free for Amazon Prime subscribers, courtesy of Prime Gaming.

Not only do you have to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to get a free copy of the game, the free copies are limited to PC codes. The game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, but Prime Gaming only offers free PC games. And it does this every month, and until now, it has never offered digital codes to console subscribers.

Available through Origin, the game is free to download until the end of the month. Once downloaded, it is your responsibility to keep it, but it must be claimed in this window.

As for the game itself, it’s a storytelling, single-player, third-person action-adventure game that hit back in late 2019 via Respawn Entertainment and EA. Official Star wars lore, the game was positively received by Star wars fans and is widely regarded as one of the best games of its year.

“Even though a captivating, unique-star wars player gambling is an experience that people yearn for in recent years, it was hard at first to get excited Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,“reads the opening of our review of the game” Cal Kestis, the protagonist of Fallen Order, was a newcomer to the saga and should earn his stripes as a memorable character, and on top of that, the idea of mowing down people as an overpowered Jedi didn’t seem particularly appealing or rewarding. But, as more was revealed about the game, including its influences from other series and how players should essentially be rebuilding it, the game has become immeasurably more engaging. After playing to the end, those updated expectations held true, as Fallen Order has proven to be an extremely entertaining and at times challenging game which is a welcome change from Electronic Arts’ past efforts, although whether or not it is a Star wars the story will be based solely on the individual’s familiarity with the franchise. “
