Microsoft today released an updated preview version of the Xbox app for Windows 10 and 11. If you participate in the Xbox Insider Program, separate from the Windows Insider Program, you can download the latest version with redesigned navigation.

Build 2203.1000.21.0 changes how navigation works in the Xbox app. It brings a new non-collapsible sidebar with five main sections: Game Pass, My Library, Cloud Gaming, Community, and Store. The current stable version of the Xbox app for Windows retains these sections at the top of the window next to the search button.

Below the main sections, you will find the list of installed games and yet another button to access the Game Pass. The latter allows you to browse all the games available in Game Pass for PC.

Another change, the search field is now permanent. It no longer collapses into a small button, allowing you to search for games on any screen in the app. Finally, Microsoft moved the profile and notification icons from right to left. You can click on your profile name to bring up the main menu with settings, support, feedback, and more.

If you want to test early versions of the Xbox app on Windows, download Xbox Insider Hub from the Microsoft Store. Keep in mind that signing up for the test program will require all of your Windows devices to download preview builds of the Xbox app, even on stable versions of Windows 10 and 11.
