Microsoft just announced a nifty new feature coming to the Xbox App (free) on iOS and Android in all regions coming soon by extending a previously released feature to all users. The company previously updated the app with a brand new look, but removed some features. You still can’t do everything the previous app let you do, like buy games and redeem codes, but it slowly started adding more features. Starting today in Australia and soon in other countries, the Xbox app will allow users to create their own stories. These can include screenshots, achievements, gameplay videos, and more, with others responding to your stories. Until this update, the stories feature was only available to official game accounts that used it to share news. The new Stories feature will be open to you once it rolls out to your region on the Xbox app. You will see your avatar with a + button in the stories channel as shown in the screenshots below. This channel displays content from the last 72 hours.
Until this feature is rolled out to all regions, you can grab the Xbox app here on the App Store for iOS. You can download it from Google Play for Android here. Over the past few months, it’s been great to see Microsoft add touch controls to so many games for Xbox streaming for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who use the cloud portion of the service, but hopefully more effort will be deployed to improve the Xbox app on iOS and Android. It always costs like a few steps behind the PlayStation App whereas the situation was reversed a few years ago when Xbox app was unbelievable. Hopefully this new stories feature is the start of many more additions to come to the app this year. Do you use the Xbox or Xbox Game Pass applications often?
