Do you need Xbox Live to play Halo Infinite?

Halo Infinite has had one of the most unorthodox versions of the game in quite some time. Not only did its multiplayer mode come out before its campaign, some features are free for everyone while others are not. As such, here’s the breakdown on whether or not players need Xbox Live to play Halo Infinite online.

Halo Infinite notoriously originally had its free-for-all multiplayer release on Xbox and PC on November 15, 2021 to the surprise of the gaming world.

Since multiplayer is free, just like titles like Fortnite and PUBG: Battlegrounds, Halo Infinite multiplayer is available to everyone, whether or not they have an active Xbox Live or Xbox Game Pass membership.

Meanwhile, the Halo Infinite campaign has been released with the full official release of the game on December 8, 2021 for $59.99 USD.

As of now, there’s no co-op mode left for the campaign, but we’d assume that once it’s released, console players will need to have Xbox Live or Xbox Game Pass in order to play it online.
