How to convert your Xbox Live subscription to Game Pass Ultimate

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass offer a lot of value if you want to play all kinds of games through a subscription. The service normally costs $14.99 per month for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (which covers both Xbox and PC) or $9.99 per month for PC Game Pass and includes AAA titles like Infinite Halo and Forza Horizon 5 as well as rotations of great third-party and indie games.

If you want to try it, there’s an introductory price that gives you one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $1. But before using it, you should know that it is possible to use the trial version to record a ground money on Game Pass Ultimate for up to three years.

Microsoft is allowing Xbox gamers to order up to 36 months of Xbox Live Gold prepaid service. And activating the $1 trial will automatically convert future months of Gold service to the more expensive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, saving you hundreds of dollars. For some context on how much money you can save: it costs around $180 for three years of Xbox Live Gold. Add the $1 promotion and you get three years of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for around $181 – whereas if you pay the full $14.99 per month for Game Pass Ultimate, those three years would cost you almost $540.

It should be noted that this is really designed to be a one-time offering. If you’ve already redeemed the offer to get a month for $1, you’ve used your opportunity to convert Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate without completely canceling Game Pass or letting it expire. (You must turn off auto-renewal on your account.) If you subsequently resubscribe, you’ll be charged the full $14.99 for the first month, instead of the $1 introductory price.

So if you haven’t used this conversion yet, here’s how to get the most out of your money.

How to convert your Xbox Live service to Game Pass Ultimate

  • To participate in this free conversion, you must first purchase an Xbox Live Gold membership (assuming you don’t already have one). Microsoft may end the sale of Xbox Live Gold at some point as it incentivizes gamers to purchase Game Pass Ultimate. But, for the momentyou can still purchase digital codes for the service from Amazon and other retailers in Three-, six-, or 12 months increments.
  • The next step is to redeem Xbox Live Gold codes on your account, either through the Microsoft website or directly through your Xbox One or Series X/S console. Microsoft States that the terms of this promotion are subject to changeso I would do it sooner rather than later as there is no indication if it might ever stop converting Xbox Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate.

Once you purchase the $1 Game Pass Ultimate trial, your prepaid months of Xbox Live Gold will automatically convert.

  • It is now safe to enjoy $1 Game Pass Ultimate trial. Once you’ve redeemed the offer, you’ll see something similar to the image above when you click on the “Services & Subscriptions” tab in your account on the Microsoft site.

While this conversion isn’t possible with PC Game Pass, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan covers both Xbox and PC. This makes this Xbox Live Gold conversion even better value if you play on both platforms.

Evil Dead: The Game: Do you need Xbox Live Gold?

Evil Dead: The Game is the latest attempt to turn the iconic film and TV franchise into a hit video game, and it’s certainly the most ambitious offering yet. The four-player co-op action game is best played online with your friends, but if you’re on Xbox One or Xbox Series X | S, will you need an active Xbox Live Gold membership to play the game online?

The short answer is Yes. As Evil Dead: The Game is a premium multiplayer game, you will need an active Xbox Live Gold membership or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership which includes both Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. Only free games on Xbox allow you to play online without a subscription.

For those without an active Xbox subscription, there’s still a reason to play Evil Dead: The Game, although it’s understandably a diminished experience if you can’t play online. Along with a limited tutorial, the game features single-player missions, which work like a campaign. You’ll complete levels that recreate moments from classic Evil Dead canon, letting you play through certain scenes yourself. The gameplay can be challenging, but if you want the most authentic and enjoyable Evil Dead experience, this is the game for you. Completing these missions will also give you unlockables like new characters.

Xbox Live Gold costs £6.99/$9.99 per month, or £49.99/$59.99 for a year’s subscription, which will get you access to Evil Dead: The Game and more online games as long as the subscription is active. Subscribers can also make the most of free games with gold each month for some additional games, as well as exclusive offers.

Unused Xbox Live trial code found in old copy of Burnout 3 from 2004

A lucky Burnout 3 user shows off the hidden treasure found in the game’s box, even though that Xbox Live treasure is something they can’t use.

It is sometimes difficult to imagine the duration of a service like Xbox Live has been around. Then a player will stumble upon a hidden treasure, like the one found in a copy of Burnout 3, which revealed an old Xbox Live map from nearly 20 years ago.

The service known as Xbox Live debuted two decades ago this year, and it has long been expanding into one iteration of the Xbox internet offering or another. Over the years, Microsoft hasn’t been shy about enticing people to sign up for one of these accounts in order to try out the service. This means that he gave away a number of trial subscriptions, and these trial subscription cards were included in the boxes of Xbox games so people could see all the benefits that could come with a new game. .

GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

RELATED: New PS Plus Tiers Won’t Include Day One Sony Games

It seems at least one person didn’t want or need to use a trial subscription when the service was still relatively new, as a social media post shows. Redditor nine16s took to the site to show that he opened up a used copy of Exhaustion 3 and found an unused Xbox Live card from 2004 that would let the bearer try the service for free for two months.

Technically, the particular version of Xbox Live no longer exists because it moved to Xbox Live Gold and could eventually disappear (or at least its name could) entirely. Despite the fact that the service has changed a lot of what it offers over the years, some other Reddit users were convinced that nine16s could still use the included code.

However, other users have pointed out that even if the Xbox Live Gold discontinuation rumor is not true, this particular trial subscription card can no longer be used for a very simple reason. It turns out that the card has an expiration date of March 31, 2005.

While this card isn’t a useful Xbox gift card these days, it’s still an interesting testament to how long Xbox Live has been around and how Microsoft has tried to entice gamers to try the service that allowed them to participate in multiplayer contests. . If nothing else, it’s an interesting throwback to the early days of Microsoft’s entry into the video game industry.

Xbox Live outage highlights serious problems with Series S and the digital age

Digital gaming has risen to the forefront of the industry, used by major and independent developers. As physical media continues to decline across many mediums in favor of digital downloads and ownership, console hardware is beginning to follow the trend. Xbox consoles are no exception.

Although the shift to digital goods offers a number of quality of life benefits to the consumer through improved accessibility and mobility, the benefits of the digital age outweigh its potential drawbacks. Xbox Live has recently been the subject of severe outages, raising significant questions about the long-term feasibility of an all-digital console.

GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

RELATED: The Epic Games Store and Xbox Free Games With Gold are both offering replays for May 2022

Xbox Live interruptions

Over the past few days, Xbox Live has been plagued with a litany of issues that have understandably angered the affected playerbase. Some Xbox Live users have reported that the service has been down for over 12 hours. While service was eventually restored for most players, others reported subsequent issues and hours-long downtime.

However, these issues were not limited to a general downtime of the service. Many users have been unable to download Xbox Live Games With Gold titles, launch Game Pass titles, and access their digital game library due to recent network issues. While normal service has gradually begun to resume as these issues are resolved, the scale of outages and issues that the past few days have fostered have started a dialogue regarding the effectiveness of digital console gaming.

Problems with the digital age and the Xbox Series S

The most glaring issue regarding the digital age of gaming that has come to the fore over the past few days of Xbox Live troubles is the industry’s reliance on online services. In the case of Xbox Live, users have suddenly been disappointed with the extent to which their console gaming experience depends on functioning servers and an established internet connection, even though online functionality should theoretically not be required.

Without an established connection to Xbox Live, gamers found their accounts completely unable to verify their membership status for a litany of services. This means that their entire Xbox Game Pass library has become obsolete, along with any games purchased digitally through the Xbox Store. With a large number of users doing the majority of their games through these mediums, their entire console can become essentially useless as these types of network issues impact the experience.

This gravity is only compounded when gamers consider the popular Xbox Series S console. This current-gen console is a more affordable alternative to the Xbox Series X, with less capable internal hardware and no physical disc drive. By design, all games held on a Series S console can only come from online digital sources, making it entirely dependent on digital media. The same can be said for some digital-only models of Sony’s PlayStation 5.

If Xbox Live is to suffer seriously sustained outages like it has historically, let alone other services like PSN, the potential issues are now much bigger than just not being able to participate in online multiplayer modes. Instead, core console functionality now depends on Xbox Live, and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon. Hopefully Microsoft and other developers are able to beef up their servers to avoid frequent downtime.

Microsoft provides update on Xbox Live outages

After several days of fluctuating Xbox Live outages, Microsoft is updating players on the current status of these outages and when to expect a full fix.

It seems safe to say that, in recent days, Xbox Live struggled. Xbox Live was down for 12 hours first, then another major outage hit a few days later, also lasting a few hours. Meanwhile, some players have reported that they are still unable to access digital games they own or titles through Xbox Game Pass. This lasted between outages, and by all reports it’s still a lingering issue for some players.

Downdetector, a website that tracks outage reports based on how high they are above average (because it’s common for some people to have a problem at one time or another), shows a big spike in Xbox Live outage reports around 1-2 p.m. on May 8, this subsided but has lasted until today. It is still early in many parts of the world, which is remarkable given that reports this morning are increasing, albeit less sharply than previous days.

GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

RELATED: Microsoft Patent May Verify Physical Games for Xbox Digital Library

Xbox Support commented on persistent issues with Xbox Live, reporting “a significant improvement in the issue” that prevented users from purchasing and playing games. As for those who are still having lingering issues with Xbox Live, the official support Twitter account suggests that the problem should be fully alleviated in the coming days with a new update. It is likely that until this new update is rolled out, some players will still struggle with their games.

Apparently there is a workaround although it is by no means guaranteed or simple. First, those who share games with their Xbox consoles are likely to be the most affected. Not having an Xbox console set as a home console makes the situation worse. But if players go to network settings, turn off their Xbox, wait a few minutes, restart the console, then get back online, it will eventually reconnect and hopefully work better. Many reports suggest that it still takes several tries.

Of course, these Xbox Live issues have only received so much attention. Many are understandably upset that they won’t be able to play their games, especially with much of that concentrated at the end of last week and over the weekend. It’s worse for those who only buy digital games or can only buy digital games, like Xbox Series S owners. Many have asked Microsoft to adjust its DRM settings because of this, but it doesn’t did not comment on these discussions. For many, this realizes many woes about the digital age of gaming seemingly to come but also somehow here.

Xbox Live is recovering from a multi-hour outage

An Xbox Live outage prevented some gamers from launching cloud games, playing digital games and making purchases from its store. The issues began around 4 p.m. ET Saturday night and weren’t resolved until early Sunday morning.

“Players should no longer experience issues when it comes to purchasing, launching games, or joining Cloud Gaming sessions”, Xbox Support said in a tweet. “Thank you for being patient. Good game!”

This latest set of issues follows a massive outage lasting several hours on Friday night and Saturday morning. Some players were unable to start Cloud Gaming sessions, launch digital games, make purchases, or even access streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney Plus.

Players should have been able play games offline during the breakdown with their Xbox game as their console “house”yet, some reported that Xbox was still prompting them to sign in to play their own games. Like my colleague Tom Warren points outthis issue draws attention to Microsoft’s DRM policy which makes it more difficult, if not impossible, to play purchased digital games offline.

How to Cancel an Xbox Live Subscription

Canceling an Xbox subscription is easier than you think. Microsoft continues to streamline the process so you can cancel Xbox Live Gold subscription in just a few steps.

You can cancel Xbox Live through a web browser or through the console. Both options lead to the same Microsoft service and subscription management website.

How to Cancel Xbox Live

Similar to canceling Xbox Game Pass, you can cancel Xbox Live from the console or a browser.

The console process is the same across the Xbox One and Xbox Series console families. These devices share interfaces, options and services.

Cancellation of the service does not entail any additional or hidden costs. But it has a particular function.

You can cancel the subscription on the expiration date. Depending on the time that has passed since your last payment for the service, you may be eligible for an immediate refund.

Cancel Xbox Live on a Web Browser

To cancel Xbox Live Gold subscription from web browser, here are the steps:

  1. Open your web browser on your PC
  2. Go to the Microsoft Services the page or the Microsoft account page
  3. Click on Login top right. If you are already signed in to Microsoft services on your browser, skip to step 5
  4. Sign in with your Microsoft account credentials, the same account you use on your Xbox sign in to xbox live
  5. Now you are back on the home page. Click the profile icon at the top right and click My Microsoft account.
    profile-icon-my-microsoft-account

  11. Click on Confirm

After cancellation, Microsoft may ask you for two additional options:

  • Don’t bill me on (next service renewal date) subscription refund
  • Cancel immediately and get a refund

These options only appear if you purchased the service within the last 30 days. To see, Microsoft is offering a refund if you cancel Xbox Live within the first 30 days after your last payment. The funds would return to your payment option within 72 hours.

Disable recurring billing

You may also see the option to “Turn off recurring billing”. This is an automatic subscription cancellation, as you will have to pay for the service manually on the expiration date.

Naturally, if you don’t pay, Microsoft simply cancels the service. However, you will not be entitled to any type of refund.

Here are the steps to manage recurring billing:

  1. Come back to your Microsoft account services and subscriptionthe site
  2. Locate the service you want to manage, for example Xbox Live Gold
  3. Click on Manage xbox-live-gold-manage1
  4. Under the service title, you will see “Regular payment.” On the right side of this option, click “Switch

  5. Select Enable or Disable, depending on what you want

Cancel Xbox Live on Console

There is a built-in option on the console to cancel Xbox Live Gold or any other Microsoft subscription.

Unfortunately, the option seems incomplete, as the process opens the console’s built-in web browser to complete the process.

Here are the steps:

  1. turn on your console
  2. press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide xbox button
  3. Go to Profile & system

Is Xbox Live Gold worth it?

is xbox live worth it

Xbox Live Gold is a benefit package for Xbox Series and Xbox One users. Mainly, it gives you access to the multiplayer aspect of the games you buy. So, for example, if you want to play Dead by Daylight on Xbox, you’ll need a Live subscription.

Then, it offers exclusive discounts and free games to its users. Xbox shares a few games that Live users can download for free each month. Often, these are lesser-known indie titles. You will not lose the free games you have downloaded by canceling the service.

There are reasons you might want to cancel it, though. First, free games do not require paying for Xbox Live. For example, you can download and play Fortnite or CoD: Warzone with no problem.

Second, you may be against the existence of the service, because Microsoft (and Sony) charge you for using your internet connection to play a game you’ve already purchased. After all, PC gamers don’t need to pay any extra fees to access online games, so you can save some extra cash by playing on the larger Windows platform.

Related questions

What if there is no cancellation option?

If you don’t see an undo option, you’re in debt. In other words, your payments are late and you will have to pay the service obligation before you cancel.

Why would you have an overdue balance on Xbox?

Are Xbox Live and Xbox Game Pass the same thing?

Gambling is becoming an increasingly popular pastime, slowly crossing the line between niche interest and mainstream attention.

Accessibility is one of the main culprits behind the growing popularity of video games, as big names like Xbox and Playstation strive to make their consoles and apps easier and more available than those of their competitors. Xbox has largely won this war thanks to several stellar offerings, including Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live, both of which set Xbox apart from the competition. These options are largely unmatched by other brands and companies, leaving Microsoft ahead of the pack when it comes to gaming choices.

The range of options provided by Xbox has led to a little confusion among some potential subscribers, as advertising blurs the line between Game Pass and Xbox Live. Are the two services the same or do they offer different benefits?

Are Game Pass and Xbox Live the same thing?

Game pass

A Game Pass Subscription can only be used by users with an Xbox Live account, so the confusion between these two Xbox offerings is completely understandable.

Xbox Live is well worth the $10 monthly cost, especially when paired with Xbox’s other stellar options. A basic subscription to Live will give users access to online games and multiplayer options, as well as streaming services – like Netflix and Hulu – in addition to discounted games and several free downloads by month. It’s entirely separate from Game Pass, meaning budget users can enjoy the benefits of Live without shelling out the extra money for a Game Pass subscription.

If you have the money, a Game Pass subscription is worth it. The service has a wonderful selection of titles that would typically cost up to $80 for a low, consistent monthly price, and even offers cloud gaming for those with a robust internet connection. The library of games that comes with a Game Pass subscription is in addition to the four free monthly options offered by Xbox Live, leaving users who subscribe to both with a constant influx of new content.

A basic Game Pass subscription will set users back $9.99, and its much more stacked older sibling – Game Pass Ultimate – ups the ante for only a slight price increase. Ultimate costs $14.99 per month, but adds perks — like cloud gaming, access to EA Play titles, and Game Pass for PC — that are too tempting to ignore. The service is worth it for any gamer who likes to try out a wide range of games and, even when combined with a Live subscription, will cost users less than most TV streaming services.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers get 3 bonus games for May 2022

Without prior announcement, Microsoft is suddenly giving Xbox Live Gold subscribers three bonus games for their collections.

Each month, Microsoft gives its Xbox Live Gold subscribers four games to claim for their digital libraries, with two Xbox 360 generation titles and two Xbox One games up for grabs. There are exceptions to this rule, as Microsoft sometimes offers free games as bonuses. That’s the case for May 2022, with Microsoft offering three additional games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to claim for the month of May.

In addition to the previously announced Xbox Free Games with Gold Games for May 2022, Microsoft has added braid, Clone Clydeand Joe Danger 2: The Movie to the mixture. out of these, braid is by far the most notable, as even though it’s an older game at this point, it’s still garnered critical acclaim and won numerous awards. In reality, braid is often called one of the best indie games ever made, so any Xbox Live Gold subscribers who have never played it have a great opportunity in their hands.

That doesn’t mean that Clone Clyde and Joe Danger 2: The Movie have no interest. Clone Clyde is an obscure puzzle platformer with local 4-player co-op. It didn’t set the world on fire when it was first released, but it has a full 5-star rating in the Microsoft Store, and since it’s free, anyone interested in the genre or co-op games should definitely consider To give it a try . Joe Danger 2: The Moviemeanwhile, is a generally well-received platform game developed by Hello Games, the same studio behind No Man’s Sky. Drop dates have not been announced for any of the three games at the time of this writing, so subscribers should grab them ASAP.

Current Warzone Profile Not Allowed To Play On Xbox Live Fix

Warzone Season 3 Classified Arms is here and millions of fans are enjoying the new content. However, the same cannot be said for some gamers who play Warzone on their Xbox consoles. Xbox players who do not have an active Xbox Live subscription currently cannot play the game. Namely, Warzone requires them to have Xbox Live to play the game although this is no longer a requirement. If you receive the error message “The current profile is not authorized to play multiplayer on Xbox Live”, here is a possible workaround.

Current Warzone Profile Not Allowed To Play Multiplayer On Xbox Live Fix

The good news here is that this is clearly a bug. An Xbox Live membership is still not required to play online multiplayer games for free. This has been changed back in April 2021. Since then, games like Apex Legends, Warzone, Fortnite and others can be played on Xbox consoles without paying a dime.

So if you don’t need Xbox Live, why is this happening? As we have already mentioned, this is a problem. Something in the Warzone Pacific Season 3 update triggered this issue and that’s why you’re getting the “Current profile is not allowed to play multiplayer” error message in Warzone. The next question you’re probably asking yourself is, “Can I fix it?”

Current Warzone Profile Not Allowed To Play On Xbox Live Fix
The error, image via u/Vrabbitonreddit

At the time of writing, there is only one way around this bug. What you need to do is sign in with another Xbox account on your console. But, this account must have an Xbox Live subscription. This will clear the bug, and after that you can log back in with your account and the game will be playable without an Xbox Live subscription. It should also be noted that Raven Software, the developers of Warzone, are aware of this issue and are working to fix it.

Warzone bug doesn’t let you play without a paid Xbox Live Gold membership

Update: Raven Software has acknowledged the Warzone Xbox Live bug and is working on a fix.

“We are investigating an issue where Xbox Live Silver users are unable to play Warzone.”

Original story: A new season has dropped in the free-to-play Warzone battle royale, but some players are reporting that they can’t play without an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

As noted in our live blog for Warzone Season 3, Twitter users started recording the issue and were pretty ticked off about it. Not only is Call of Duty: Warzone free, but Microsoft rolled out an Xbox Live Gold policy change to ensure that f2p titles wouldn’t need a paid subscription for their online multiplayer.

So, the sudden requirement for a paid subscription has rightly got gamers up in arms.

“The new Warzone update broke my game,” one player lamented, posting a screenshot showing the issue.

“I haven’t had Xbox Live Gold or any subscription for months now and have been able to play free games including Warzone. Microsoft instituted this policy last year. Please correct.”

A number of other users are experiencing the same issue, but at the time of writing, neither the developers nor the publisher have acknowledged or responded to the complaints.

This is not the first time this has happened; Late last year, an update to Warzone rolled out that did the exact same thing. the @charlieINTEL The Twitter account noted the error at the time, tweeting:

“For Xbox players who receive a ‘Network Service Failed’ alert when trying to play Warzone, it looks like the overnight update has made Xbox Live Gold a requirement to play Warzone again. , even though free games no longer require it on Xbox.”

It was obviously fixed, but it’s not ideal to force players to deal with it again. This is one of the few issues that appeared when the update went live. It’s frustrating that there’s no official answer or idea when this will be fixed.

Raven Software is already facing a “corrupt loading data” error that some players have encountered. This mentioned he would tweet an update when it was resolved, but there has been nothing since. Undoubtedly, this issue will eventually be resolved, but it must be annoying for fans who resisted the giant update, ranked play not working, error messages, and now this.

What is Xbox Live Gold?

Xbox Live Gold is a required subscription if you want to play online games with Xbox One, Xbox 360, or Xbox Series X. Regularly, an Xbox Live Gold subscription costs $10 per month or $60 per year. Xbox Live Gold also gives members access to additional benefits such as free games every month and discounts on select digital games.

Whether you’re playing solo, with a single friend, or in online co-op with a group of strangers, you need Xbox Live Gold to do it. Your subscription also gives you access to the party system and voice chat so you can communicate with your cohorts while you play.

Every month, Microsoft offers free games to Xbox Live Gold members through its Games with Gold program. These games are only available for a limited time (two weeks or one month) and can be redeemed through the website on your Xbox console. You can then download and keep the game for free. The good news about this feature is that if you let your subscription expire, you get the game back when you renew your subscription, although you can’t play the game while the subscription is inactive.

If you have an Xbox 360 and you have games you purchased through Games with Gold, you don’t have to worry about losing those games if you decide to upgrade to an Xbox One. Microsoft has guaranteed that all Xbox 360 games released through Games with Gold will be playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility.

Your Xbox Live Gold membership also includes offers with Gold, which gives subscribers exclusive deals on Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Xbox Series X digital games. Deals change weekly, and you can check out current offers on the Deals with Gold website. If you buy a game through Deals with Gold, you are responsible for keeping it, even if your subscription ends or expires.

It should be noted that Xbox Live Gold is different from Xbox Live Silver (now called Xbox Live Free). The free version has limited features that allow you to create a friend list, create a profile and gamertag, preview games, stream video content from the Zune network, download games and add-ons from the Xbox Live Marketplace, send and receive messages with other Xbox Live users in the form of text or voice, and make video calls to your friends using Video Kinect (if you have a Kinect). The glaring difference between the two services other than price is that you can’t play online with Xbox Live Free.

Xbox Live Gold Free Games Get Xbox Series X Weekend Boost

Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download two additional free games this weekend, one of which comes with additional Xbox Series X optimization.

And that’s in addition to the current batch of titles that can be added to your library at no additional cost. The only downside is that while Xbox Game Pass can also take advantage of this new offer, some of the included titles are already available as part of the service.

But for everyone else, it provides a welcome boost after a lackluster bid from Games With Gold.

While Down Detector stats claim that issues affecting Xbox owners include gameplay and server connection issues.

As reported Xbox Live service issues affected Xbox gamers, they took to Twitter to discuss the issues they were facing.

One tweeted, “Anyone else can’t open games on their Xbox ATM?”

While another posted: “@XboxSupport You know the Xbox is down I can’t play any game every time I try to play it says whoever brought this needs to sign in I am literally the person who brought this to this profile.”

One added: “Seems like a lot of people are having trouble playing games on @Xbox right now, is Game Pass down? Repeated requests for people to log in to play. @xboxsupport @purexbox”.

Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass Price Increase Coming Soon, Says Insider

Xbox Live Gold is about to get a whole lot more expensive, according to a recent report that suggests the service is set to merge with Xbox Game Pass for good.

Xbox Insider Brad Sam says Microsoft is looking to emulate Sony’s book and combine its two subscription services – resulting in an increased monthly cost for Gold users.

Sams says the plan is for Xbox Live Gold, the subscription service that gives users monthly free games and access to online multiplayer, will no longer be available as a one-time subscription plan. Instead, the only way to get it will be through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Given that Xbox Live Gold is currently $9.99 / £6.99 per month and Game Pass Ultimate is $14.99 / £10.99 / month, that’s a noticeable price hike – even assuming the price of the Game Pass Ultimate remains the same.

“I heard that Microsoft is considering finding a way to increase the price of these services [Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass] to include Gold so that $15 a month is the new baseline, which means you get Game Pass and you also get Xbox Live Gold, and that’s the only tier,” Sams explained. Wouldn’t be surprised if when Microsoft closes this acquisition of Activision, they actually raise that base floor price by how much it will cost to get into their service.”

Take that with a huge pinch of salt for now, of course, because absolutely nothing has been confirmed by Microsoft.

In 2019, Microsoft began including Gold with Xbox Game Pass subscriptions through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Some analysts have suggested that Microsoft has been looking for a way to streamline the two different services for some time. In early 2021, Microsoft announced – and then very quickly came back – an Xbox Live Gold price hike that effectively made Game Pass Ultimate the cheaper option, leading to speculation that the company was actively trying to push Gold subscribers to upgrade to Game Pass. Ultimate.

While Microsoft activated this particular price increase almost immediately, it wouldn’t be too hard to believe that it’s ready to do away with Xbox Live Gold altogether and merge its benefits with Game Pass.

Having access to all the benefits of Game Pass would obviously eliminate the increased price for some users, but the fact remains that there are Gold subscribers who don’t care about Game Pass. And I’m not sure forcing them to sign up for a Game Pass subscription to keep their gold would go down brilliantly.

Microsoft plans to permanently merge Xbox Live Gold with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – Rumor

Subscription services are becoming more central to the games industry at a surprisingly rapid pace, especially with Xbox Game Pass continuing to go from strength to strength and Sony looking to follow in its footsteps with the upcoming revamped PlayStation Plus. The latter, of course, has established itself as a key part of the Xbox ecosystem, but as it grows more and more, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Microsoft continually tweaking the service.

For example, it looks like Xbox Live Gold — the paid subscription required to play paid online multiplayer games on Xbox consoles — may soon be permanently integrated into Xbox Game Pas Ultimate. Gold subscriptions are already part of the highest Game Pass tier, but according to journalist Brad Sams, Microsoft is currently considering discontinuing Xbox Live Gold altogether and offering it exclusively through Game Pass Ultimate. This would mean that if you want to play paid games online, you will need a Game Pass subscription.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard similar rumors, of course. Reports have repeatedly claimed over the past two years that Xbox Live Gold is going to be discontinued for good, though Microsoft has previously said it has no plans for such changes.

Recently, it was also reported that Microsoft is planning to launch a family plan for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. It should be interesting to see if these supposed changes are bundled and introduced together as part of an upcoming restructure.

In January last year, Microsoft reversed its decision to increase Xbox Live Gold prices in response to widespread backlash, and also confirmed that Gold subscription requirements for free multiplayer games were being scrapped. Learn more about it here.

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold Price Increase Set to Happen Soon

A new Xbox report claims that Microsoft plans to get rid of Xbox Live Gold in favor of creating Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – the $15 version of Xbox Game Pass, which bundles into Xbox Live Gold – Xbox’s base tier Game Pass and the only way to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold. What does it mean? Well, that means the $15 version of Xbox Game Pass will become the cheapest tier, replacing the current $10 tier. Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold access would go from $5 per month to $15 per month.

The report comes in the way of an Xbox insider and reporter, Brad Sam, which claims that Microsoft aims to combine the two subscription services into a single service. To that end, Sams suggests that all of this could happen when Xbox’s costly acquisition of Activision Blizzard is complete.

“I heard that Microsoft is considering finding a way to increase the price of these services [Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass] to include Gold so that $15 a month is the new baseline, which means you get Game Pass and you also get Xbox Live Gold, and that’s the only tier,” Sams said via PureXbox. “It wouldn’t surprise me if when Microsoft completes this acquisition of Activision, they actually increase the base floor price by how much it will cost to get into their service.”

For now, that’s the scope of the report, which, of course, should be taken with a grain of salt. While everything here is accurate, it’s also subject to change, but that lines up with the rumblings we’ve heard that Microsoft doesn’t know what to do with Xbox Live Gold and has been exploring ways to raise the price of Xbox Live Gold. Xbox game. It would make sense for the solutions to these two problems to be one shared solution.

At press time, Microsoft has not addressed this report and the speculation it created. For various reasons, we are not planning this change, but if it is, we will make sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, and as always, feel free to share your thoughts and hot-takes in the comments section or, alternatively, hit me up on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ and keep me posted there. What do you think of this new report? Is this the right course of action for Xbox?

Xbox Game Pass could be combined with Xbox Live Gold

Xbox is reportedly evaluating plans to do away with the standalone Xbox Gold subscription, combining it with Xbox Game Pass instead.

xbox game pass logos

There have been rumors that Xbox has been wanting to end its Xbox Live Gold subscription service for years. Instead, Microsoft went so far as to announce a significant increase in the price of Xbox Live Gold in a clear effort to push Xbox gamers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate instead. This plan was quickly canceled following a flurry of negative feedback, but few doubted that Xbox was still planning to restructure Xbox Live Gold down the line. A new rumor hints at this.

According to Brad Sams, Microsoft is evaluating plans to combine both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. Sams explains that Microsoft’s goal is to make $15 a month the new baseline for a subscription to its services. Key to this price increase will be the dissolution of the Xbox Live Gold standalone subscription tier, which currently costs $9.99. Combining it with Xbox Game Pass permanently seems to be Microsoft’s main goal to achieve this goal.

GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

RELATED: New PS Plus Tiers Won’t Include Day One Sony Games

To be clear, Sams’ description of the situation isn’t entirely consistent. Indeed, Microsoft already offers a subscription that includes Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold for $14.99 per month. That’s the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which also includes cloud gaming and Game Pass on PC and Xbox. That’s why it’s odd that Sams says Xbox is planning a new tier for its subscription services, rather than just getting rid of the cheaper standalone Xbox Live Gold service.

What Sams may have been trying to say is that Microsoft will increase the current price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and create a new $15 per month tier that only includes Xbox Game Pass for Console and Xbox Live Gold. Either way, those who only have an Xbox Live Gold subscription but have no interest in Game Pass should be prepared for a price increase.

If Microsoft raises the price of its base subscription for Xbox Live Gold, which is required to access multiplayer games on Xbox consoles, to $15 per month, expect a major outpouring of negative feedback. That’s what happened when Microsoft tried to raise the price of Xbox Live Gold to $120 per year, after all. Including Xbox Game Pass in a service users must have for basic functionality isn’t likely to ease frustrations.

It is perhaps remarkable that PlayStation recently announced its plans for new levels of PlayStation Plus. And while its base tier, now named PlayStation Plus Essential, will offer fewer benefits overall, it’s still priced the same. Regardless of Xbox considering a higher price for Xbox Live Gold, it would be good to recognize that this would make PlayStation the more affordable option. Xbox Live Games with Gold April 2022: Adds “Hue” and “Outpost Kaloki X”

April’s Xbox Live Games with Gold edition features new titles that were popular on the company’s older consoles. Xbox is now adding “Hue” and “Outpost Kaloki X” to its list of upcoming games in April.

However, players should note that these games each have a specific time period in which they will be available.

Xbox Live Games with Gold April includes two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 titles

According to the story of IOLs, Xbox has confirmed that the platform will add two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 titles for its Games with Gold release in April. These games include “Another Sight” and “Outpost Kaloki X”.

To add, it’s important to note that both titles will only be available for a limited time. According to the company, this means that users will only have the chance to play “Outpost Kaloki X” until the end of April and in May the game will no longer be available for Xbox Live members.

“Another Sight” available until April 15, “Outpost Kaloki X” longer

“Another Sight”, the famous city-building game originally launched on Xbox 360 in 2004, will be available on Xbox Live for a shorter time than “Outpost Kaloki X”.

According to the announcement, the game is only available for players to download until April 15, which is half of the availability time of “Outpost Kaloki X.”

Thankfully, Xbox Live members will get more games once the “Outpost Kaloki X” listing expires on April 30. Players will receive not one but two games, namely “Hue” and “MX vs ATV Alive”.

“Hue” and “MX vs. ATV Alive” available from April 16 to May 15

Both games, “Hue” and “MX vs. ATV Alive,” will be available from April 16 through May 15. “Hue” is a 2016 puzzle platformer that was popular at the time, while “MX vs ATV Alive” is an off-road racing game that was released in 2011.

To play the limited time titles, users will need to have an Xbox Live account and download the games within the time limit.

Other features include the fact that some games like “Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition” or “Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions” are sold with an exclusive discount. The website also says users can get up to 50% off select games for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and even Xbox 360 titles.

The best cheap 12-month Xbox Live Gold deals in April 2022

Xbox Live Gold deals can easily get you online (and save on top games) for less. Don’t let your subscription renew at full price, avid gamers can reduce some of their setup costs simply by taking a discounted 12 month subscription from another retailer. Whether your subscription is up or you’re still reeling from an Xbox Series X restock, we’re rounding up all the best Xbox Live Gold deals on 3- and 12-month subscriptions here.

Xbox Live is one of the most important Xbox Series X accessories on the market right now, and one of the best ways to save on Xbox Series X price with your setup. At its base price, the Xbox Live Gold price is $24.99 / £17.99 for three months, but you can up to a 12-month Xbox Live Gold Membership for $59.99 / £49.99.

We generally suggest going with a 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription, as it offers better value for money overall. However, that doesn’t mean you should pass on good three-month deals or wait until your subscription runs out entirely. Xbox Live Gold is stackable, after all, meaning you can always add it on top of your current subscription, no matter how much you already have in the tank.

Alternatively, you can always check Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Deals if you’re willing to stretch your budget. In terms of value for money, it’s arguably better value for money. Although more expensive, you get Xbox Live Gold with a library of over 100 games.

Cheap Xbox Live Gold deals over 12 months

Xbox Live Gold 12 months

Xbox Live Gold 12 months

The 12-month Xbox Live Gold deals are generally the best value option. We see the biggest price drops on annual subscriptions, with prices typically between $40 and $60 during larger sales events. If you spot anything cheaper than that, you get a particularly solid deal.

Sure, you’ll likely get cheaper deals at major retail events, but if you need to renew now, these are the best prices you’ll find today. The Microsoft Store sometimes also offers deals, but you’ll normally find better prices through the larger online retailers.

Cheap Xbox Live deals – 3 months

Xbox Live Gold 3 months

Xbox Live Gold 3 months

Ok, maybe you don’t want to commit to a full 12 months of Xbox Live. Grabbing a 3 month subscription allows you to see whether or not you will get any real value from the service.

And don’t forget that you can add 12 months later. It will simply be added to your 3 month code. So you could end up with 15 months or more all paid off, taking us well into the Xbox Series X generation… Win!

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

If you’re looking to combine your Game Pass with a cheap Xbox Live Gold membership, you’ve come to the right place. While this is a more expensive subscription than just taking Live alone, you also get access to, arguably, the best subscription service in gaming yet – especially if you double down on that low Xbox price. Series S. Game Pass offers a plethora of free titles with all new exclusive Xbox Series X games also heading straight to the service. That’s a lot of value in one monthly payment.

Not only is Game Pass Ultimate a great subscription on its own, but combined with stacked Xbox Live Gold months, you can save a lot of money. Indeed, Microsoft is currently running a promotion that will give away your first month of Game Pass Ultimate for just $1. However, the fine print also indicates that claiming the offer will also convert all your remaining Xbox Live Gold months to the much more expensive Game Pass Ultimate, up to 36 months.

This means you can stack your Live Gold months for far less than you would with Game Pass and convert them all to Ultimate for just an extra dollar.

Xbox Live: Games with Gold – April 2022

If you buy a 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership (whether through these Xbox Live deals or not), you also get the Games with Gold program. This allows you to download and keep a handful of free games each month.

What are the free games this month, then? We’re always eager to see what freebies we get – you’ll find all of this month’s Xbox Games With Gold just below.

  • Another Sight (available April 1)
  • Kaloki X Outpost (Available April 1-15)
  • Tint (available April 16)
  • MX vs. ATV Alive (Available April 16-30)

Xbox Live Gold vs. Game Pass Ultimate: which one to choose?

If you want a taste of Microsoft’s excellent Game Pass service, we highly recommend ditching your separate Xbox Live Gold membership and turning it into a Game Pass Ultimate membership. Three months of Xbox Live Gold will cost you $24.99, and three months of Game Pass will add an additional $29.99. Considering Game Pass Ultimate only costs $44.99 (and is often available for less than that), the value is obvious.

However, if you collect physical games and don’t intend to go through your backlog using Microsoft’s subscription service, you won’t earn anything extra by paying more for the all-in subscription. -a.

Do you need free Xbox Live Gold to play games?

It should be noted that if you just intend to play free games online, you don’t requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Starting April 2021, you’ll be able to simply swipe through Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Rocket League without paying the monthly price.

Can you still buy 12 months of Xbox Live Gold?

The first is Another view and Kaloki Outpost Xboth of which will be available to Xbox Live members starting April 1. Another view will be part of the service for the entire month, until April 30, and is a steampunk fantasy platformer.

Kaloki Outpost X was originally released on Xbox 360 and PC in September 2004, and is a city-building title. The twist here is that it takes place in space, so you have to keep the aliens happy rather than the humans. While Kaloki Outpost X arrives at Games with Gold on April 1, it will be released on April 15.

April’s headliner games with gold is probably Tint, Nevertheless. A stylish and colorful platformer originally released in August 2016, it will be available from April 16 to May 15.

The Xbox team will likely soon announce a slew of Game Pass titles for April as well, and Weird West will be a day-one release for the service on PC, Cloud, and console on March 31. April isn’t as stacked for game releases as it has been in recent months, so it’ll be interesting to see what new games hit the service then.

In other news, the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been postponed to spring 2023. It was originally planned for this year, but the team needs more time and “continues to work diligently”.

Sony challenges Xbox Live with a PlayStation subscription

If you’re one of the gamers who found Sony’s pair of online video game subscription setups confusing, this might be the news you’ve been waiting for. A newly revamped PlayStation Plus is on the way, merging the features of the current PlayStation Plus and PS Now services into one, while also bringing a ton of new gameplay benefits aimed at giving PlayStation gamers a more robust online service to rival the Microsoft’s Xbox Live. .

Sony Interactive President Jim Ryan unveiled the new PlayStation Plus in a blog post outlining the new service with a three-tier pricing plan that grants increased levels of access to content and features at each stage. The current PS Now game streaming service is leaving, with existing members being rolled into the top tier of the new PlayStation Plus plan. The new service is expected to go live from June in Asia, followed by rollouts in North America and around the world shortly thereafter.

Three levels can be a lot to figure out, so what do you get with each – and how much do they cost?

Starting at the base tier, there’s PlayStation Plus Essential – the cheapest plan that retains “the same benefits PlayStation Plus members enjoy today,” according to Sony. The Essential plan, well, essentially matches the current PlayStation Plus service in just about every way, and that includes the price: it will remain at PlayStation Plus’ current monthly cost of $9.99 per month.

Stepping up to the mid-tier gives players access to PlayStation Plus Extra, which bundles everything from the basic PlayStation Plus Essential plan to a bundle that also adds “a catalog of up to 400 of the most enjoyable PS4 and PS5 games – including including blockbuster hits from our PlayStation Studios catalog and our third-party partners,” says Sony. The Extra plan will also allow subscribers to download game titles for offline play, and it will cost $14.99 per month.

To top it all off, the PlayStation Plus Premium plan, a $17.99 per month service that unlocks a significant boost in additional features, including pay-per-view game streaming and a wider variety of game titles that dips more deep in the retro PlayStation library.

In addition to everything offered in the lower two tiers, the Premium plan will add “up to 340 additional games”, with PS3 titles available via cloud streaming and a “catalogue of beloved classic games available in the streaming and download options of the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP Generations. Coupled with the over 400 games of the next lower tier, the Premium plan unlocks over 700 game titles in all.

For fans who miss some of the PS3’s biggest names, it’s still too early to tell if Sony will make PS3 classics like Metal Gear Solid 4: Weapons of the Patriots available as downloadable games rather than streaming-only titles. Big-name games are definitely part of Sony’s overall subscription strategy, but unlike Xbox Livesubscribers will not find the latest AAA releases there.

As before, Sony’s approach to all-new PlayStation-only exclusives is to give them plenty of room as standalone purchases through their launch windows, before adding them to the new service’s lineup of playable titles via subscription. . A nice feature of the Premium plan is the ability to try new games without purchasing them – for a limited time, of course. “Time-limited game trials will also be offered in this tier, so customers can try out certain games before purchasing,” Sony explains.

In terms of access to classic games, Sony’s subscription approach seems somewhat comparable to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan. Both services promise access to a wide range of older games on demand, although gamers will need to upgrade to one of Sony’s higher-end tiers to enjoy game streaming. Sony’s philosophy of moving new exclusive PlayStation games away from a subscription model is the real difference: Xbox Game Pass lets gamers dive into new Xbox Studios games the day they’re released, while Sony subscribers will still have to buy upcoming exclusives like God of War Ragnarök separately if they want day one access.

Judging by Sony’s launch lineup of games, the wait to play at least the newest and best doesn’t seem to be too long. Relatively recent PS5 hits were among those Ryan names as part of the new PlayStation Plus launch lineup. In the top two levels, “we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of the war, Marvel’s Spiderman, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11and Return“, wrote Ryan, promising that the subscription library will be “regularly updated”.

Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold prices have dropped in India

Microsoft India will revise the prices of Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions. The company will lower subscription prices by around 28%, according to Gadgets 360.

In an email to the publication, Microsoft said it was lowering prices based on prevailing market conditions in the country. The newly reduced rates will take effect from April 1 this year.

An Xbox Live Gold membership allows users to play online games on Microsoft’s servers. On the Microsoft India website, it is currently priced at Rs 489 on its own. The price will be revised to Rs 349.

The Xbox Ultimate Pass gives subscribers access to over 100 PC and console games and same-day access to Xbox Game Studios titles plus many other member-only benefits and rewards. It also includes an Xbox Live Gold subscription and an EA Play subscription. After the entry into force of the new tariffs, users will be able to get 8 months of subscription for Rs 499 per month, as opposed to the current price of Rs 699 per month.

Xbox Live Gold’s new free games might be the most disappointing yet

Xbox Live Gold subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X have two new free games, and they may be the most disappointing pairing of Xbox Live Gold games yet. Starting March 1, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download The Flame in the Flood free. It is not, however, one of the two games in question. The Flame in the Flood is a well-regarded game. Xbox Live Gold subscribers were also able to download sacred 2 fallen angel until a few days ago, when it was replaced by the aforementioned pair of newer free games: street power football and The truth or the square of spongebob.

The first is a 2020 game from developers SFL Interactive and Gamajun and publisher Nacon. It has a 41 on Metacritic. The other game is a 2009 Xbox 360 game from Heavy Iron Studios which has a 40 on Metacritic. If none of these games appeal to you, even as free downloads, you’re not alone.

As alluded to, the Games With Gold supply of Xbox Live Gold has been on a downward trajectory for years and it’s bordering on a meme within the Xbox community at this point. That said, this may be a new low point for the subscription service. It’s obvious at this point that Xbox is only focused on Xbox Game Pass.

Below you can read more about both games and check out a trailer for both games, courtesy of Xbox:

Street Power Football: “Show off your sick style in this fast-paced, action-packed version of the beautiful game. Try out over-the-top cheats, game modes and playing fields, and unleash your soccer superpowers. Compete against street legends or your friends in a game to determine who will claim the crown of King of the Street!”

Truth or SpongeBob SquarePants: “SpongeBob has lost Krabby Patty’s secret formula. With your help and the help of some Bikini Bottom buddies, SpongeBob must use Plankton’s memory machine to trace the happiest times of his life and find the formula.”

Xbox Live Auth Manager vulnerability for Windows has just been patched

by Alexandre Poloboc

news editor

With an irresistible desire to always get to the bottom of things and find out the truth, Alex has spent most of his time working as a journalist, presenter, as well as on television and radio… Read more

  • We haven’t heard the words Patch Tuesday and Xbox in the same sentence for some time now.
  • This month, however, the Redmond tech giant decided to patch a vulnerability that targets both.
  • Rest assured that the Xbox Live Auth Manager elevation privilege vulnerability for Windows is gone.
  • The fix was provided by Microsoft through the monthly Patch Tuesday security patch rollout.

patch xbox tuesday

All anyone can talk about these days is Microsoft’s new Patch Tuesday release which, as you know, happens every second Tuesday of every month.

Today, Mach 8 2022, the Redmond-based tech giant deployed a total of 71 CVEs, three of which were marked as critical, and we have the download links ready for you.

And among those 71 CVEs released this month, there was one that targeted Xbox gamers on the Windows operating system, but luckily Microsoft has already covered that (CVE-2022-21967).

Another vulnerability removed from the list by Microsoft

Indeed, this appears to be the first security patch specifically affecting Xbox, so we can understand all the raised eyebrows and confused coughs.

But that’s no joke, as Microsoft has acknowledged the potential damage this vulnerability could cause if exploited by malicious third parties.

Of course there was a advisory for an inadvertently leaked Xbox Live certificate that was released in 2015, but this appears to be the first security-specific update for the device itself.

Microsoft is aware of an SSL/TLS digital certificate for *.xboxlive.com whose private keys were inadvertently leaked. The certificate could be used in attempted man-in-the-middle attacks. It cannot be used to issue other certificates, impersonate other domains, or sign code. This problem affects all supported versions of Microsoft Windows. Microsoft is not currently aware of any attacks related to this issue.

The tech giant even notes that other Windows operating systems are not even affected by this bug.

It is still unclear how cybercriminals could increase privileges using this vulnerability, but the Auth Manager component is listed as affected.

This service handles interaction with the Xbox Live service, so if you know you depend on Xbox or Xbox Live, make sure this fix doesn’t go unnoticed.

So, there you have it, we can add another annoying bug to the list of issues that we hope to never have to deal with in the future.

Did you know about this vulnerability? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

Xbox Live Gold in 2022

What many fans considered an absolute necessity in its past, Xbox Live Gold in 2022 seems to have undergone a notoriety shift now becoming the laughing stock of Microsoft’s gaming subscription service.

Early days

For nearly two decades, Xbox Live Gold has been viewed by Xbox owners as a must-have subscription. It served as the ultimate gateway to the multiplayer experience Xbox has to offer.

As a thank you to Xbox Live Gold members, Microsoft gave Xbox Live subscribers Fable III, Defense Grid: The Awakening and Assassin’s Creed II in 2013. These were the very first steps and the birth of the Xbox Games With Gold feature offering subscribers four new monthly Xbox Games. Fans were happy to pay for Xbox Live Gold to get their money’s worth. Multiplayer experience and monthly free games, what’s not to love?

Gold begins to tarnish

In 2021, Microsoft decided to drop the Xbox Live Gold requirement on free multiplayer titles and open up several social features to all gamers on Xbox. These features consisted of Party Chat and Looking for Group messages, the platform’s most popular social features. Players no longer need to pay the monthly Xbox Live Gold fee to play popular titles at the time such as Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone or Apex Legends along with other titles. Depending on the payment style, some players could now potentially waste their money. While no payment is required for these popular titles, other Xbox games still require Xbox Live Gold. These changes to the subscription service have significantly reduced its value, as various features that were once exclusive are now available to everyone.

The nail in the coffin

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives gamers a library of hundreds of games they can play on Xbox, PC, Android, and IOS, which also includes all first-party Microsoft versions as soon as they’re released. On top of that, all the benefits of Gold are included. When this new subscription service came out, gamers didn’t know how it would work, but in 2022 everyone now knows his name and the power he wields by having Xbox Live Gold writing his will.

With the success of GamePass Ultimate, it’s now clear where Microsoft is focusing. Players continually see new popular titles added to the service, but what about Games With Gold? While Microsoft pampers its Game Pass subscribers with its exciting titles, Gold subscribers are left with old and forgotten games from Xbox’s past.

Games with Gold March 2022

Xbox Games With Gold 2022 March Line up

As in previous months, Xbox Live Gold as well as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The March title board unsurprisingly, for fans, are indie games and older titles.

The first two games coming in March are The Flame in the Flood, a roguelike survival adventure game, and Sacred 2 Fallen Angel, an action role-playing game set in a fantasy world.

Free from March 16 to April 15 is Street Power Soccer, an arcade-style soccer game, and SpongeBob’s Truth or Square, an action game based on the TV show’s special.

Bye

If gamers want value for their money, then undoubtedly Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the way to go. It has all the benefits of Gold plus hundreds of games you can play on an assortment of devices. While a Gold Membership will get the job done, it just can’t compete with the Game Pass in 2022. It’s time to throw in the towel. Rest in power Xbox Live Gold.

This post identifies the potential culprits and provides the most appropriate solutions that affected players can apply to successfully resolve the issue.

The full error message when this problem occurs reads as follows;

Account information

Sorry, this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console. Please download it again.

Code: 80151006

This particular error occurs when the user tries to play a backward compatible Xbox 360 game on an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S console, as the Xbox Live membership works normally for all users as they can play Xbox Gold games Card and use online features without problems. This issue appears to be limited to backward compatible games that launch on the new generation Xbox console.

The following are the most likely culprits of this error;

  • Xbox Live Core service issue.
  • Glitched temporary data.
  • Corrupted Local 360 storage folder.
  • Xbox profile stuck in the middle of the signing process.
  • Operating system corruption.

Sorry, this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console

If you get the error message Sorry, this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console on your Xbox console, you can try our recommended solutions below in no particular order to fix the error on your gaming device.

  1. Restart your Xbox console
  2. Check Xbox Server Status
  3. Clear Xbox 360 Local Storage (for Xbox One)
  4. Delete and add an Xbox profile
  5. Check if the game supports Smart Delivery (for Xbox Series X|S)
  6. Reset Xbox Console

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved regarding each of the listed solutions.

1]Restart your Xbox console

You can start troubleshooting to fix the error message Sorry, this profile can’t connect to Xbox Live on this console by restarting your Xbox console.

Proceed as follows:

  • Press and hold the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds to turn off your console.
  • Unplug your Xbox from the mains.
  • Wait at least 30-60 seconds.
  • When the time is up, plug your Xbox back into the power outlet.
  • Now press the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller to turn your console back on.

In case you don’t see the green boot animation when the console restarts, you can repeat these steps and make sure you hold down the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Try the next solution if the error persists.

2]Check Xbox Server Status

Check Xbox Server Status

You may experience the issue due to a temporary glitch with Xbox Live servers preventing you from playing backwards compatible games – this is usually due to a scheduled maintenance period or some sort of unexpected outage issue caused by an attack DDoS or an unexpected issue with servers in your zone/region.

Basically, if the core services are down, your game ownership will not be validated, so you won’t be able to play the backward compatible game. In this case, you can check the status of Xbox Live at support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status and check whether any basic services are currently not operational or operating with limited capacity. If all services are up, you can try playing the game again. On the other hand, if the servers are down, there’s not much you can do other than wait for Microsoft engineers to fix the issue – and keep checking the Xbox status page regularly until you see the server is back online and all services are running.

3]Clear Xbox 360 local storage (for Xbox One)

Clear local Xbox 360 storage

The error in view can also occur due to some sort of file corruption in your Local360 storage folder. This is a hidden folder that you can access after trying to launch the backward compatible game on your Xbox One.

To delete local Xbox 360 storage on your Xbox One console, follow these steps:

  • press the Xbox button to open the guide.
  • Go to the rightmost menu and click on the Settings icon.
  • Then navigate to System > Storage room to open system storage.
  • In the System Storage menu, select the Clear local Xbox 360 storage option.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the procedure.
  • Restart the console when finished.

After the console restarts, you can try playing the backward compatible game again and see if the issue is now resolved. Otherwise, try the next solution.

4]Delete and re-add an Xbox profile

Delete and add an account/profile on Xbox

If there are any inconsistencies with the Xbox profile you’re currently signed in with, you’re likely experiencing the current issue. In this case, to solve the problem, you can delete, then re-download and re-add your Xbox gamertag/profile on your gaming device.

Proceed as follows:

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  • Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account.
  • Under Account, select Delete accounts.
  • Select the Account that you want to delete.
  • To select Remove to confirm.
  • To select Close once you have finished.

You have now successfully deleted the Xbox profile on your gaming device. To now redownload and re-add your profile, follow these steps:

  • press the Xbox button on your controller again.
  • To select Add new in Profile & system.

To note: You will not create a new account when you select this option. You simply add your existing profile to the Xbox console.

If you forgot it, select I forgot my password, then follow the instructions to recover your account

  • Review the privacy statement summary, then select following.
  • Select your Login and Security Preferences.
  • Find out what you look like on Xbox, then select following.
  • Choose your color, then select following.

To note: The preference you are currently using at home appears with a check mark.

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to return to the Homepage.
  • Scroll left from Home, find and select your gamertagthen select Login.

Now launch the backward compatible game again and see if the issue still occurs. If so, try the next solution.

5]Check if the game supports Smart Delivery (for Xbox Series X|S)

Optimized for Xbox Series and Smart Delivery-icon

With Smart Delivery technology on Xbox Series X|S consoles, when purchasing a game, the best version of the game is automatically delivered to your console, regardless of generation – no extra steps required to your part. Additionally, the ability to play digital and disc-based Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on Xbox One has expanded to include Xbox Series X|S and cloud gaming.

To check if you have the Xbox Series X|S optimized version of your game, follow these steps:

  • Go to My games and apps.
  • To select See everything.
  • In Gamesselect the filter then under All types of consoles to select Optimized for Xbox Series X|S games.

If the game is listed, your game has been successfully upgraded to the best version available. If the optimized version is released but your game has not yet been updated, follow these steps:

Move towards My games and apps > See everything > Manage > Updates.

The game may be waiting for an available update, which can happen if the automatic game update setting is not enabled on your console.

To find out if the games you own are backwards compatible, you can check your game library by following these steps:

  • Go to My games and apps > See everything > Complete library > All games held,
  • Then filter on All types of consoles.
  • To select Xbox 360 and Xbox Games Where Xbox One Games.

6]Reset Xbox console

Reset Xbox console

At this point, if nothing has worked for you in troubleshooting the current issue, you can reset your Xbox console – make sure to select the Reset and keep my games and apps option when performing the reset procedure.

I hope this helps you!

Elden Ring: Do you need Xbox Live Gold?

Like most Soulslike games, Ring of Elden lets you brave the horrors of its post-apocalyptic fantasy world with friends, or just anyone you can find online who is willing to help. If you’re an Xbox One or Xbox Series X | Gamer S, you’re probably wondering if you’ll need an Xbox Live Gold membership to play online.

Of course the answer is Yes, because you need an active Xbox Live Gold membership to play any premium Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S game online. Previously, you couldn’t even play free online games without a Gold subscription, but Microsoft has since made that possible.

Xbox Live Gold costs £6.99/$9.99 for 1 month subscription, £17.99/$24.99 for 3 months, £27.99/$39.99 for 6 months and £49.99 / $59.99 for 12 months, but if you shop online you can find deals for less. Having this subscription also means you can claim free titles each month, although these are not available when your subscription expires. You can also start your Xbox Live membership with a 14-day free trial. There’s also Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which is more expensive but includes Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, EA Play, and Xbox Live Gold in one package.

Xbox Live announces new Twitch integration

Xbox and Twitch have agreed to a partnership that makes it easier to access and manage the live streaming service from the console menu.

It was officially announced that Xbox will now offer players an easier onboarding method Tic for their live broadcasts. Xbox Insiders tested the Twitch integration towards the end of last year, which allowed direct access to the live streaming service in the Xbox menu.

Recently, Microsoft has invested significant resources in its brand of game consoles. The multinational tech company has been on a bit of a buying spree over the past year, acquiring big-name game developers like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. This appears to have forced rival Sony to take similar action with the purchase of Bungie, which coincidentally was the studio that once ran the iconic Xbox. Halo franchise. The model has garnered a lot of attention and has even caused some to compare Microsoft and Xbox to Disney due to the way the two companies acquire a large number of well-known franchises.

Once linked, players can select “Go live nowto stream any downloaded game to their particular Xbox console. This new method will also allow gamers to manage game and mic audio levels, as well as provide a pause screen if one decides to switch games. along the way.

Xbox and Bethesda will hold a joint presentation at E3 2021 after Buyout 2

Despite seemingly constant scandals involving Twitch, the live streaming platform remains one of the best of its kind and it makes sense that Xbox would want to improve its relationship with the service. Microsoft’s console brand appears to be gearing up for a major push over the next decade with all of its recent purchases. Having a good relationship with a platform like Twitch sets the stage for showcasing more of its future products.

As for the sales figures, Xbox continued to fall short of Sony’s PlayStation lineup in recent memory. Microsoft executives, however, seem keen to change that narrative and seem to believe that gaming as a whole will play a big part in the company’s future. Given Microsoft’s recent track record, it wouldn’t be surprising if this Tic partnership is soon followed by something else substantial.

Do you need Xbox Live to play Fortnite (2022)

Fortnite is a free title that players can simply download and start playing for free. The only reason players have to pay any amount of in-game money is to purchase skins from the Item Shop. However, this is a personal choice, and it does not hinder the gameplay in any way. There are tons of gamers in the community who simply haven’t invested a single dollar in Fortnite since Epic Games first launched the game in 2017.

not having to pay for Xbox Live Gold for F2P games also makes the Xbox Series S more appealing to those who just play Fortnite, Destiny, or Call of Duty: Warzone and want framerates or game times. next generation charging https://t.co/2Yi3mg04je

The same can’t be said for Xbox gamers looking to play the fan-favorite Battle Royale title. For a very long time, a subscription was required to play the game, although it has always been a free-to-play title. However, do Xbox players have to pay a subscription in 2022 to play Fortnite? Keep reading to find out.

Microsoft is waiving Xbox Live Gold fees on free titles, including Fortnite

Previously, Xbox gamers had to pay a $10 Xbox Live Gold subscription fee to play any multiplayer game, even if it was exclusively free. For an annual subscription, players had to pay $60. This created a barrier between players on all other platforms and Xbox.

Finally, in May 2021, Microsoft realized its mistake and simply waived the Xbox Live Gold subscription on the free titles.

Microsoft’s big free Xbox Live Gold changes begin today. Xbox Live Party chat will be free, and Xbox testers can now access free games like Fortnite without an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Details here: theverge.com/2021/3/24/2234… https://t.co/mzAV38MKu3

Microsoft provided an official statement on the issue in which they added the names of 50 free titles that Xbox gamers can play without paying a single penny on their console.

“Today, we’re sharing more details about our plans to make online multiplayer in free games available on Xbox without an Xbox Live Gold subscription. As part of hearing your feedback, this change will take place starting in ‘today, and all Xbox gamers will be able to access online multiplayer for free for a library of over 50 free games that support online multiplayer.’

PlayStation and Nintendo are other consoles where loopers can play the Battle Royale title, and neither of these consoles require a subscription fee to play the Battle Royale title.

How to Check if Xbox Live Service is Down 2022 Tip

This tutorial is about how to check if the Xbox Live service has stopped. We will do our best for you to understand this guide. I hope you will like this blog How to check if Xbox Live service is down. If your answer is yes, please share after reading this.

Check how to check if Xbox Live service is down

Microsoft’s Xbox Live service went down for a while in the US last night. I was streaming videos from my Windows 8 system when everything suddenly stopped. If you’re having trouble with your Xbox Live service, here’s a good tip to check what’s going on. That’s really all there is to it. If you find that you are using an Xbox Live service and it is not responding, you can quickly check on the service status page. That way, you can tell if it’s down for everyone or just you and if you need to do any further troubleshooting on your end.

At the top of the status page, you’ll see a message that gives you an overview of the different Xbox services. If this message says “All services are up”, it means that the Xbox servers are not experiencing any outages and are working properly. To check the status of Xbox Live, go to the Xbox Live Service Status page; it’s a good idea to bookmark it on your computer or mobile device. The page shows if the service is down, your account status, Xbox music or video, apps, and more.

How to Fix Xbox One Connection Problems

If your Xbox Live connection is online, you can test and reconnect your Internet connection as follows. The black magic of networking leaves hundreds of possible causes, although some common troubleshooting steps may help. Although Xbox Live appears to be fully functional, the service may experience brief issues, including regional issues affecting small groups of users. These interruptions often go unnoticed, but they can cause temporary problems. We recommend restarting your Xbox One, which will attempt to connect to Xbox Live again.

If your Xbox One remains offline, you may be having issues with your home network. The Xbox One built-in connection test tool helps diagnose problems and provides guidance for finding a solution.

  • Press the Xbox button to open the guide menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Select All Settings.
  • Select the network.
  • Select the Network Settings tile. More Xbox Live status information can be found on the screen.
  • Select Test Network Connection, located on the right side of the screen.

Why is Xbox Live crashing?

Xbox Live is Microsoft’s cohesive online platform positioned at the heart of its gaming ambitions. The service supports tens of millions of users across Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs, as well as a host of portable devices . And despite the day-to-day reliability, Xbox Live occasionally disconnects. Microsoft rarely talks about technical details when Xbox Live crashes, often providing timely resolutions and trailers.

Although the cause is often unclear, Xbox Live may experience technical glitches, high traffic spikes, or malicious Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks affecting Microsoft servers. Redmond has teams working around the clock to keep Xbox Live stable, and failures are natural over time.

How to use your Xbox One offline

Xbox One is Microsoft’s new family of consoles, with deep-rooted ties to Xbox Live and Microsoft services. Once these services are offline, Xbox One loses a long list of day-to-day operations beyond the social features of Xbox Live.

Xbox One games can usually be played when Xbox Live is down, but only if your console is marked as your “home device” or if you’re using a physical drive. Multiplayer titles will lose full server connectivity, as will single player experiences with online restrictions. Downtime also interrupts streaming media apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Spotify, even when the respective services are fully operational. OneGuide also requires Xbox Live, which makes OTA TV guides inaccessible. If you also can’t access your games and apps on your home device, disconnect your console from the internet.

The Xbox One retains some system-level features, such as game recordings, screenshots, and achievement tracking. And all locally stored licenses provide access to your digital content. But compared to a connected Xbox One, disconnecting quickly becomes tedious.

Unable to connect to Xbox Live

There are only a handful of reasons if you’re faced Avant-garde Xbox To live connection publish and we are going to help you solve this problem in this guide. If you haven’t encountered the problem yet, it only happens after being in a few lobbies. It does not appear instantly when launching the game.

The actual problem is the game getting stuck in the “Connecting to Xbox Live” screen.

In most cases, the game will connect to Xbox Live without any issues, but sometimes things just won’t work. The game will take forever to load and you’ll end up with the “Connecting to Xbox Live” message.

Why is Call of Duty Vanguard not connecting to Xbox Live?

Here are some possible explanations for why your game is stuck on the “Connecting to Xbox Live” screen:

  • Internet Connection Failed – When it comes to games failing to connect to their online services, you can instantly guess that your internet is causing the problem as a proper connection is basically the backbone to establish a transparent connection with the server of any game.
  • System problem – If the problem is not caused by your internet, it is most likely due to a problem in your game or maybe even a system problem.
  • Xbox servers down – When certain Xbox servers are down or on a maintenance break, you just need to know that waiting is the only solution.
  • Call of Duty Vanguard Server Issues – If there are no Xbox Live issues, it may be due to issues on the game server side.
  • Corrupted game files or cache – If your saved files or cache are corrupted for no reason, it could very well be the reason why your game is not connecting to online services.

Every fix mentioned in this guide will be based on the issues I mentioned above.

If you’re one of the players who encountered this issue, then get ready for a trip of fixes that might actually work!

Internet check to fix Vanguard Xbox Live connection problem

Before trying anything else, the first thing to do is to check your internet connection. Just check whether it is working properly or not. If so, you should move on to other fixes, but for now, follow these steps for basic troubleshooting of your internet connection. Start by checking your network connection speed. If you have a slow internet connection, your game will have problems connecting to its servers/online services.

Here is how you can check your internet speed:

Step 1: Launch “Settings” on your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.

Step 2: After opening the settings, you will see “General”. Under this tab, you can find “Network Settings”.

Step 3: Select “Test Network Connection” here.

Once the network connection test is complete, you should see a message on the screen that says “All is well”. Didn’t receive this message? This means that your internet connection requires troubleshooting before you can join multiplayer matches on Xbox Live.

Step 4: Click “Test Network Speed & Stats” to run a speed test and make sure you meet the minimum speed requirements to play online.

Fortnite on Chromebook seems far-fetched, doesn’t it? Not anymore! Fortnite on Chromebook: Compatibility and Installation Guide

To fix speed issues with your connection, you can try restarting the router. If you have a LAN cable, connect your Xbox directly to the router, which will improve your ping while eliminating packet loss.

Close the game and restart your Xbox

Let’s say your internet connection is as stable as possible! The next thing to try would be to close the game and restart your console to remove any temporary cache from the system. This would possibly resolve minor issues that may have prevented Call of Duty Vanguard from connecting to its servers.

A reboot ensures that your system’s memory is refreshed, which means your system has a new batch temporary cache.

Step 1: Click the Home button on your controller and head to “Home”.

Step 2: Hover over Call of Duty Vanguard and press the “Menu” button (it’s that button with 3 lines).

Step 3: When a list of options appears, choose “Quit Game” and the game will close.

Step 4: Hold the Xbox button on your controller until a list of options appears.

Step 5: Highlight the “Restart Console” option, then press “A” on your controller. After that, click “Restart” to restart your Xbox.

Check the Xbox Live service status if Vanguard has an Xbox Live connection problem

You can see if there is a problem at the end of the Xbox servers in ‘Xbox Live Status’ page. Xbox servers are the online gaming backbone of the Xbox family of consoles. Even though Call of Duty Vanguard multiplayer matches are hosted on regional Call of Duty servers, it should be noted that your console is connected to Call of Duty servers through the route of a nearby Xbox server.

Checking the Xbox Live service status in your area only takes a few steps.

Step 1: Launch “Microsoft Edge” on your Xbox.

Step 2: Go to the address bar and enter “support.xbox.com”.

Step 3: Once the page opens, click on the “Xbox Status” option (second option from the top).

Step 4: Check if all services have a green tick.

You can also check the official Activision website and access the service status section to see if there are any server-related issues in your region. To do this, just click here!

Step 1: Press the Xbox button on your controller and go to the “My games & apps” section.

Step 2: Highlight “Show All” then press “A” to see all your games.

In the era of Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold shouldn’t exist

Since the beginnings of Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold has become very outdated. Game Pass is more than a top tier of an Xbox Live subscription, giving access to a large library of games while Xbox Live Gold offers nothing like it. The benefits that gold offers seem very meager in comparison.

As gamers flock to Game Pass for the selection of games on offer, Xbox Live Gold has been criticized for offering less value. Of course, Xbox Live Gold arrived long before Xbox Game Pass, but it hasn’t evolved in a big way. Charging players to access multiplayer games may have been Xbox style a decade ago, but it feels offbeat now that Game Pass exists, and the low perks of Xbox’s Games With Gold offerings rarely justify the cost. a Live subscription.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

Xbox Live Gold has been part of the Xbox Series for a very long time, but Game Pass overtook it very quickly. If Xbox Live Gold were to upgrade and evolve, it might gain a better reputation. However, considering how behind his time, it may be too late for him to recover. There are a few specific points that may explain Gold’s failures, and why it now feels like a relic that Xbox should part with.

Xbox Live Gold – Why paying extra to play online seems outdated

A multiplayer promo shot for Halo Infinite

One of the biggest original draws of Xbox Live and its paid subscription model was that it gave gamers the ability to play against and with other people online. It was a major boost for Xbox’s early multiplayer games such as Halo 2. At first, online gaming was a bit of a novelty, but it quickly caught on, eventually reaching the point where online multiplayer has become an industry staple and a major force in its own right. Nowadays there are entire games such as Monitoring and SMIT which consist entirely of online multiplayer matches, but not all platforms require a paid subscription to access them.

Over time, online gambling has become more and more common in games. Xbox Live Gold has become more appealing to many gamers as it has become more or less essential to getting the most out of several major titles, such as Halo and Call of Duty. Eventually it reached a point where online play felt like something that should be included by default rather than a feature locked behind additional payment. Almost every multiplayer game on Xbox needed it, so these games basically required an extra yearly charge to be fully enjoyed.

With more platforms not requiring a subscription to access online multiplayer and co-op titles, and with Game Pass presenting better value for money overall, Xbox Live Gold feels like an unwanted extra payment that gamers must agree to participate. basic characteristics of certain titles. Free games on Xbox no longer requiring Live, Microsoft seems to realize this. The days when connecting a console to the internet was a novelty are long gone, and Xbox Live Gold feels like a relic of those less established days. Offering little more than a key to playing online games, what Gold brings should really be basic functionality rather than a paid extra.

Games with gold have been made obsolete by Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass editing

Games With Gold is a program that has been part of Xbox Live since July 2013. Twice a month, players are offered a game to download for free, with each offer remaining valid until the next game. A free-to-play game sounds amazing, and Microsoft has offered some great games in the past. When the Xbox One was released, Games With Gold began offering Xbox 360 and Xbox One games through the service. However, the service has earned a reputation for offering less than stellar titles in recent years, with the February 2022 Xbox Games With Gold deals proving particularly unattractive.

When Game Pass launched on Xbox One, it was priced higher than Xbox Live Gold, but quickly showed its worth with the Game Pass library, with a large collection of titles players can download and play for free as long as they are part of the service. Even some new releases and major titles are offered through Game Pass, which has become a major draw for subscribers. Games will occasionally be removed from Game Pass as new titles are added, but any title on Game Pass can be purchased at a discount while it is part of the service. It’s basically a way for gamers to try out games before they buy them, and it’s a lot like a video game version of Netflix.

Xbox Game Pass has added over $6,000 worth of games in 2021 and is great value for money. It also eclipsed Games With Gold. As one of Gold’s only standout features outside of online play, it makes Gold look outdated now that a vastly improved version is available on the same console. While they could be considered different tiers of the same online service, Game Pass trumps Gold to such a degree that even this comparison seems unfair.

What should happen to Xbox Live Gold now that Game Pass exists

Xbox Live Gold Price Rise Reversal

With Xbox Live Gold looking more outdated over time, Microsoft should consider what it should do with the service. What Gold offers feels both underwhelming and vital for the console, given that it’s still needed for online play. Given the reviews, it might be time for Microsoft to change how Xbox Live Gold works. Even lowering the price of Xbox Live Gold may not be enough to change.

Related: Why Ubisoft+ isn’t coming to Game Pass (but Rainbow Six Extraction is)

One solution would be to expand free online gaming beyond free games to encompass all games with online functionality. While that would leave Gold’s only quirk as disappointing Games With Gold offerings, it would possibly lead to Gold being phased out, with Ultimate being the only additional tier. Considering Xbox Live Ultimate has the Game Pass library, that sounds like something worth the extra payment to access. Game Pass is one of the best online gaming services right now, and Microsoft was right to introduce it. However, it also highlighted why gold feels so weak in comparison.

As for whether Microsoft would actually phase out the gold, there are reports that the company is waiting for Xbox Game Pass to reach a milestone before considering dropping the gold. Xbox Live Gold has been a part of the service for a long time, and Microsoft probably wouldn’t let it go without a very good reason. However, the introduction of Xbox Live Ultimate and Game Pass has provided such an improved version of what Gold is already doing that it may be seriously considering making changes.

While Xbox Live Gold was once one of the leading online gaming services, it now sits in the shadow of Xbox Game Pass. Boasting a few perks in addition to online play, Gold feels like a relic from a previous console generation. After being overtaken by so many other platforms and services, Xbox Live Gold is obsolete.

How to Cancel Xbox Live Gold on Xbox One, Series X/S

Xbox Live Gold has always been the paid subscription for Xbox games, offering full access to Microsoft’s gaming network with a range of exclusive benefits. This includes access to online multiplayer, various social features, free games and regular discounts. But Xbox Live Gold isn’t for everyone and coupled with some big changes to Xbox Live’s free tier, you might consider canceling your subscription.

How to turn off auto-renewal for Xbox Live Gold

By canceling your Xbox Live Gold subscription, understand that you will lose access to all of your previous benefits from the service. Going forward, multiplayer for most Xbox Live Gold games and other services will be inaccessible, including access to free titles previously obtained through Games with Gold.

  1. Go to account.microsoft.com/services.
  2. Login to your Microsoft account.
  3. Navigate to the Xbox Live Gold subsection of the page.

  4. Click on Manage.
  5. To choose Disable automatic renewal.
  6. To select Confirm cancellation.

Once you complete the steps, your Xbox Live Gold subscription will not renew in the future. Your existing Xbox Live Gold subscription will continue until the end of the current payment period, which means that all benefits are still usable in the meantime.

Is Xbox Live Gold worth it over Game Pass Ultimate?

As of the network-wide Xbox Live Gold changes, introduced in April 2021, free multiplayer games no longer require an Xbox Live Gold membership. Great news for gamers who prefer to stick with titles like Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite. For anyone who drops $60 on a hit multiplayer blockbuster, they’ll then have to shell out extra money for Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if they want to play with friends.

Even for offline gamers who prefer story-driven games, it’s worth exploring the benefits of Game Pass Ultimate. In addition to access to the Game Pass library, you also get all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold. Although priced higher than Live Gold, Game Pass Ultimate includes the Games with Gold program, which awards two free games per month, including backward compatible Xbox 360 titles. These games never leave your library as long as your subscription is active, unlike Game Pass’ rotating game library.

The best package for all things Xbox, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership includes access to PC Game Pass. If you split your game time between consoles and keyboards, you’ll have access to the PC side of the Game Pass library. These upgrades make Game Pass Ultimate much better value than Xbox Live Gold, which has lost its spark.

How to save on Xbox Live Gold

If you’re considering checking out Game Pass Ultimate instead of canceling Live Gold, you can upgrade your Gold membership to Game Pass Ultimate for as little as $1 through Microsoft.

Although Microsoft has discontinued its 12-month digital subscription to Xbox Live Gold, one-year codes can still be purchased from third-party retailers. The 25-character codes will either be masked on physical cards with a scratch off panel or emailed directly from online retailers. Redeem your code on the Microsoft website subsection here, and your membership extends instantly.

Similar discounts often appear for 3 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes, so check local retailers regularly for price reductions and take advantage of Xbox Multiplayer savings.

Halo Infinite drops out of top five on Xbox Live as player count drops

Halo Infinite caused a stir when it launched late last year. It reached the top of the free games chart on Xbox in November, while hitting over 270,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. But are these numbers falling?

A recent Windows Central Report looked at data on Halo Infinite’s current numbers, and it reveals a significant drop in player numbers. The game is now out of the top five most played games on Xbox, taking sixth place. Steam numbers have dropped to around 10-20,000 concurrent players.

It’s disappointing to see, that’s for sure, but is it really that surprising? Many issues have arisen since launch. One of them – Big Team Battle matchmaking – was just fixed more than two months after the game was released.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer

There is also the matter of content, or lack thereof. We’ve seen playlist updates and in-game events, but there have been no hints of any new maps, weapons, or vehicles since launch. Not to mention the co-op campaign and Forge mode, which still don’t have a launch date.

In the modern age of games as a service, content is king. For Halo Infinite to get back to those lofty launch heights, it likely needs more significant content drops. We’d say Halo Infinite’s core gameplay is worth sticking with, especially as we approach launch. But for many, that doesn’t seem to be holding them back.

What does Halo Infinite need for you to come back? Or are you still playing? Let us know below.

Microsoft will stop accepting payments from inactive Xbox Live and Gold accounts

The UK Competition and Markets Authority has investigated Microsoft over its subscription practices, offered in the form of Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. During the investigation, the authority raised concerns about Microsoft’s automatic subscription renewal services and asked if customers were paying for an old subscription that is unused, unknowingly.

Following the investigation carried out by the British authorities, Microsoft announced certain changes that it was going to make to its services. The changes are intended to make it easier for the user to cancel their Microsoft Xbox Live or Gold subscription. Another change that will be implemented is that the company will not accept payments from subscribers who are not actively using the paid service. However, not all of the changes will be made to Microsoft’s services in the coming times.

Changes made by Microsoft after the CMA probe

  • Microsoft will contact existing paying customers for Xbox Live and Gold subscriptions and offer them the option to cancel their 12-month services and request a refund.
  • Microsoft should provide clear information about price increases as they occur in the future.
  • The company needs to provide more information to help customers understand their Xbox subscription – including information on when their subscription will renew, what the cost is, and how a customer can request a refund after an accidental renewal.
  • The company will contact customers who are not using their Microsoft Xbox Live or Gold subscription but are still paying for it. First, the company would send reminders to the user to cancel their subscription and then stop accepting any payments.

During the investigation, the CMA’s executive director of enforcement, Michael Grenfell, said that “players need to be provided with clear and timely information to make informed choices when signing up for memberships and subscriptions to automatic renewal. We are therefore pleased that Microsoft has given the CMA these formal commitments to improve the fairness of their practices and protect consumers, and will offer refunds to certain customers. “The update comes after Microsoft recently announced its free games for the month of February 2022.

Xbox Live with Gold free games confirmed for February 2022 – and the crowds are getting soft

The February 2022 Games with Gold lineup has been officially confirmed. These titles will be available for download at no additional cost to anyone with an active Xbox Live Gold membership.

As usual with Games with Gold, all four games will be available at staggered intervals throughout February and the lineup includes two Xbox One games and two Xbox 360 titles. All four are playable on Xbox Series X through the backward compatibility.

Xbox Live with Gold Free Games: February 2022

  • Xbox One: Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse (Available February 1-28)
  • Xbox One: Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield (February 16 to March 15)
  • Xbox 360: Hydrophobia (February 1-15)
  • Xbox 360: Band of Bugs (February 16-28)

As its name suggests, Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse is the fifth title in the series of adventure games that casts you as American Geroge Stobbart and French journalist Nico Collard on the trail of a stolen painting. Naturally, this leads to the duo uncovering a murderous plot. If you find old-school adventure games a bit mundane, then the high-octane 2D side-scrolling action Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield should be more your speed instead.

Hydrophobia is probably the most interesting game on the list. It was an extremely polarizing game when it was released on Xbox 360 in 2010. Edge gave it 3/10, IGN an 8/10. How’s that for a mixed reception!

Over the past decade, Hydrophobia has become a cult classic and rather admired for its still very impressive water physics. The action game was supposed to come out in three parts, but its developer, Dark Energy Digital, went into administration and only the first chapter surfaced.

Band of Bugs is a turn-based strategy game that lets you battle waves of scary bugs in single player or online multiplayer. It received mixed reviews when it launched in 2007, and to be honest, it might be best left in the past. Unless you really want to play something in February, you can probably skip this one.

The reaction on social media was fairly subdued, with some followers disappointed to see another month devoid of any real headline titles. The lineup looks particularly unfavorable compared to February’s PlayStation Plus offerings which are Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, Planet Coaster: Console Edition and UFC 4.

  • You must be friends with the person whose IP address you want to track. Only then can you access the Gamertag.
  • The target Xbox user must be online when entering the gamertag on the Xbox Resolver platform. Otherwise, the system may not capture the exact IP address.

If these factors are correct, you can go ahead and follow the steps we have mentioned below.

  1. You need to sign in to Xbox Live and locate the person whose IP address you want to find
  2. Now copy the person’s Gamertag from the profile page. You can also write it down somewhere.
  3. You can now open the Xbox Resolver Interface and enter the Gamertag you wrote down

find xbox user ip address

  1. Hit the Enter key and wait a moment while Xresolver compares your input with its database
  2. Within seconds, you can find the IP address associated with the Xbox Live Gamertag

You can use this method as many times as you want. Once you have access to the IP address, you can use an IP address geolocation service to find the appropriate location of the user. Depending on the tool you have chosen, you can even find the postal code and postal address of the IP address.

Limits:

  • Sometimes the user’s Gamertag is not saved in the database. This means that you cannot find the IP address using the Xbox Resolver platform.
  • Some Xbox Resolver features are premium. You may need a paid account to access it.

Method 2. Find an Xbox Live user’s IP address via a clickable link

In this method, you need to get in touch with the Xbox Live user and send them an IP tracking link. It can be a little inconvenient, however. The steps are as follows.

  1. You must add the person as a friend on Xbox Live
  2. Once they accept your invitation, you can start chatting with them
  3. In the middle of the chat, you can send a clickable link using an IP capture service like grabify
  4. Make sure to redirect the link to something relevant to the player and what you’re talking about. For example, you can configure the link to forward to a YouTube video or Twitch channel.
  5. Wait for the player to click on the link.
  6. Now go to the Grabify dashboard and find the user’s IP address

As you can see, the process does not involve copying and pasting the Gamertag anywhere. You also don’t have to use the Xbox Resolver. On the bright side, you can use Xresolver’s IP geolocation feature. It will help you find the appropriate location.

The essential

Here’s how you can find an Xbox player’s IP address and location through Xbox Resolver. The process can be a bit complex, but it’s the most accurate option out there.

It is convenient that you can find the Xbox resolver as well as the IP address geolocation finder on the same platform.
