Apex Legends Gameplay Details

Although Apex Legends Mobile is a standalone app, it pulls several elements from the standard version that works on PC and other consoles. The main maps, game modes and battle passes are also involved in the mobile version of the game. Developing the game from the ground up, fully optimized for touch screens, must be very difficult for the developers. The game has made the fan-favorite map King’s Canyon missing in BR mode. However, you will be able to see parts of the map in Team Deathmatch and Arenas mode. The patch notes for the first season of the game is named Prime Time and below are some of its features.

EA introduced a new mobile-exclusive legend named Fade with the mobile version of the game. Fade is a new legend that has passive, tactical, and ultimate abilities. The passive ability is called Slipstream which gives a quick boost at the end of its slide. His tactical ability called Flashback helps him easily return to his previous location. Finally comes his ultimate ability which is called Phase Chamber, which allows him to launch a core, which saves everyone within its radius from any damage during the explosion. Players can unlock fade after reaching level 25.

Besides the new legend, the game should see a new overflow map in arena mode and advanced training level. Players can explore and learn advanced combat drills. New additions include new arms like the Heat Shield, 30-30 Marksman Rifle, and 4x-10x Thermal Imaging Optic Scope. Squad Fill is a new feature that automatically fills a new player in deathmatch mode when a player leaves the game in the middle.

The mobile version of Apex Legends will also have a Battle Pass season, often heard in other BR titles like PUBM/BGMI, Call of Duty, Free Fire, etc. Players can receive free rewards as well as exclusive rewards when purchasing the Battle Pass. with Apex Legends coins that include exclusive weapon skins and other perks. Other features and the interface will bear a high resemblance to the original/regular version of the game on PC and console.

Can I play the mobile version of Apex Legends on the emulator?

The answer is yes, you can play the mobile version of Apex Legends on Emulator. But the problem is that you cannot download the game from any official source because the game is not official yet for emulators. You have to download and install the game manually to play the game in an emulator. Note that the game is said to have many bugs and issues as the game is not available for emulators. Therefore, the game is not optimized to be played on Emulator. We suggest you do not play the game on Emulator until an official announcement is released.

Does Apex Legends Mobile support cross-platform play?

apex legends
Picture via EA

It’s a bummer for mobile players to team up with PC players or other consoles because the mobile version doesn’t allow cross-play. However, it should be noted that the mobile version is completely separate from the PC or Console version. Some major items available in the game are only mobile exclusive. It is a standalone application and you can observe the difference between playing the game on mobile and on another console.

It wouldn’t be fair gameplay if we dropped all of these players on the same battlegrounds, especially without controller support. Given this, Respawn Entertainment had announced that they were not allowing cross-play for mobile and other console versions. We can expect changes to this feature in the coming days. Crossplay on iOS and Android is supported.

Will this game have controller support?

mobile apex legends
Picture via game

The image above shows controller-style button pointers on the cluttered HUD, implying that the game, like CoD Mobile, will allow smartphone (or emulator) users to pair a game controller and enjoy it like the PC or the console version.

Ubisoft’s Free “Roller Champions” Coming to PC and Consoles May 25

After first revealing the game at E3 2019, Ubisoft will finally release Roller champions on May 25, the editor . The free-to-play title will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One – plus Xbox Series X/S and PS5 through backwards compatibility – to start with, with availability on Nintendo Switch, Stadia and Amazon Luna to follow later. Roller champions supports both cross-platform play and progression, so not only can you group up with your friends no matter where they download the game, but your progress will also carry over between systems.

Roller champions pits you and two other players against a team of three competitors in a twist on classic roller derby. In each game, your goal is to be the first team to score five points. You earn a single point or more by skating around an oval track and keeping control of a ball before shooting on goal. To complicate matters, the players of the opposing team can tackle you to gain possession of the ball. Each match lasts around seven minutes, and there is an external progression system where you can earn gear for your in-game avatar. Ubisoft will be selling premium passes that players can complete to earn cosmetics that aren’t available in the in-game item shop.

How to Download Arma Reforger on Xbox and PC

If you want to download Arma Reforge on Xbox or PC, we’ve got you covered. Follow the simple steps listed below, and you’ll be in the Cold War era in no time.

How to Download Arma Reforger on Xbox

As of this writing, the Xbox version of Arma Reforger has not gone live. However, when it does later today, downloading it on Xbox should be as simple as following the steps below:

  1. Launch the Microsoft Store app
  2. Use the search function to locate the list
  3. Select the list and buy the game

Once purchased, the game should automatically be added to your download queue. Once installed, you can launch it at your leisure. Even though it’s labeled “Game Preview”, it’s the full version. That’s just Xbox nomenclature for early access. If you find the game is not appearing in the store, you may need to wait a bit longer. You can also try resetting your console to see if it triggers a store update.

How to download on PC

  1. Arma Reforger is available exclusively on Steam on PC. It can be purchased and downloaded like any other game on the platform. Do this:
  2. Search for Arma Reforger using the Steam store search box
  3. Click on the correct selection when the search results appear
  4. Buy the game from its store listing

After purchasing the game, Steam should automatically ask you if you want to install it. Also note that Arma Reforger is in early access, so don’t expect it to be complete or bug-free. It’s steep for an early access game, and reviews on Steam are mixed. It’s supposed to be a preview of Arma 4, so skeptical folks might want to wait until Bohemia Interactive releases that game.

Xbox Game Pass adds 12 more games in May 2022

Xbox Game Pass today revealed the final list of titles that subscribers on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and cloud devices will be able to access before the end of May. In total, Microsoft is adding 12 new games to Game Pass before the end of the month. Combined with the seven titles that have already arrived on the service in the past two weeks, this makes the Xbox Game Pass offering for May one of the most comprehensive lineups we’ve seen so far in 2022.

Of the 12 games coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, five of those titles are actually coming to the subscription platform today. The other seven will then roll out over the next 10 days, meaning all of these games will be free to download and play before long.

Here’s the full list of games coming to Xbox Game Pass from today until the end of the month:

  • His history (PC) – May 17
  • Jurassic World Evolution 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 17
  • Little witch in the woods (Console and PC) – May 17
  • Skate (Cloud) – May 17
  • Umurangi Generation Special Edition (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 17
  • Farming Simulator 22 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 19
  • vampire survivors (PC) – May 19
  • Soft Knights (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 24
  • Hardspace: Shipbreaker (PC) – May 24
  • Elite Sniper 5 (Console and PC) – May 26
  • locust 22 (PC) – May 27
  • Pac-Man+ Museum (Cloud, Console, and PC) – May 27

As we’ve come to expect from Xbox Game Pass, perhaps the best thing about this lineup is the sheer number of different genres that are covered. Along with having a new shooter, classic arcade games, and a beloved sports title, there are also adventure titles and strategy games on this list. If there isn’t something here that somehow catches your interest, that would honestly be a bit surprising.

What do you think of all these new games coming soon to Xbox Game Pass? Did a specific game in this range appeal to you? Share your own thoughts with me in the comments or message me on Twitter at @MooreMan12.

Fall Guys is going free, coming to Switch and Xbox on June 21 – TechCrunch

Battle royale platformer Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is going free-to-play and coming to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and the Epic Games Store on June 21, developer Mediatonic announced Monday. The game originally launched on PlayStation and PC in August 2020 and was slated to release on Switch and Xbox last summer. A dedicated PlayStation 5 version of the game will also launch on June 21, bringing faster loading times and other performance improvements.

“Whether you’re on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Epic Games Store, or a mix of all of the above, you’ll be able to play Fall Guys for free – with cross-play, cross-platform parties, and cross-play progression fully supported with the use of your Epic Games account,” the announcement reads.

PlayStation and Steam players who already own a copy of Fall Guys will continue to receive all regular updates, including new seasons, fixes, and features. Mediatonic notes that new players will no longer be able to download Fall Guys on Steam. People new to Fall Guys and want to play on PC will need to visit the Epic Games Store.

Existing players who have purchased Fall Guys will receive a “Legacy Pack” which will come with a nickname, nameplate, three costumes, and access to a new premium season pass.

Fall Guys is getting a new season on June 21 that will bring new levels, costumes, gameplay, and more. Mediatonic will also launch a new premium season pass that can be purchased with Show-Bucks, a new in-game currency. The season pass includes 100 levels and additional costumes. Users who do not want a Season Pass will continue to have access to a free progression path with unlockables.

It makes sense for Fall Guys to launch on the Epic Games Store, as Epic purchased Mediatonic’s parent company, Tonic Games Group, last year. It should be noted that Epic made Rocket League free-to-play after acquiring developer Psyonix.

Fall Guys became an instant hit in 2020, but the hype around the game has since waned. The shift to free-to-play and launching on additional platforms should give Fall Guys a new audience.

Xbox Game Pass is losing big games today

Xbox Game Pass subscribers should be aware that a total of 6 pretty big games are leaving the service as of today, May 15.

Many are eagerly awaiting a new announcement for the next few Xbox Game Pass titles, and the service should do so in the coming days. After all, there’s not much coming after May 17, but it’s part of Game Pass’ bi-weekly approach. However, Xbox Game Pass is losing some major games today, May 15.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t new, as many Xbox Game Pass subscribers probably know. Xbox Game Pass drops games every month, but the most notable factor is that it always adds more than it takes away. In other words, Xbox Game Pass proves its worth time and time again, and it effectively increases it as well. But, many fans should also be aware of the games coming out of the subscription service today.

6 great games leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 15

Fans have known this for a while, hopefully either by downloading and beating Xbox Game Pass games or by taking advantage of the store discount on them. Anyway, the following six games are being removed from Xbox Game Pass today.

  • Enter the Gungeon – May 15
  • Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster – May 15
  • Remnant: From the Ashes – May 15
  • Steep – May 15
  • The Catch: Carp and Big – May 15
  • The Wild Heart – May 15

The first three are arguably the heaviest casualties for the service. Enter the dungeon has a cult, Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster are emblematic FF games, and Vestige: ashes is a solid Soulslike cooperative shooter. Even if someone hasn’t had a chance to play them on Xbox Game Pass, they are worth the price the store charges them.

To soak, as a sports simulator on snowy mountains, and The catch, as a fishing simulator, are perhaps the most specialized games here, but these have had their sequels and many fans of one or another of the real world activities have probably enjoyed them on the digital front. Meanwhile, The savage at heart is a beloved indie game, which really ranks in the top three in terms of popularity and quality.

Xbox Game Pass may be dropping those 6 games today, but no doubt more than 6 games will be added in the coming weeks. Fans can probably expect Xbox Game Pass to drop more games at the end of May, so they should be sure to keep an eye out for those in case it’s a game or two that they were waiting to try.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers receive a handful of free games each month.

Xbox patent could let you play discs on a discless console – Review Geek

While that’s certainly a bargain, the Xbox Series S’s inability to read discs can cause a lot of frustration, especially if you own a bunch of old games. But a new patent from Microsoft shows that the “digital-only” console could gain disc-playing capabilities, of sorts.

As discovered by Rant game, a Microsoft patent describes how gamers can play discs on the Xbox Series S or Xbox One S. It’s a flawed plan, but it makes sense: use an external disc drive (an Xbox One in this example) to verify that you have a physical disk. Game. Xbox servers then allow your discless console to download and play the game.

A patent showing how an external console or disc drive could verify physical games on an Xbox Series S.
Rant game

Obviously, Microsoft should just sell an add-on disc player for its consoles. But the system described in this patent is better than nothing. It would certainly make the Xbox Series S experience a little easier to swallow, as long as you have an Xbox One or other disc-enabled device lying around.

There is only one major problem; What’s stopping me from buying a physical game, running it through this service, and returning or reselling it? Presumably, Microsoft will only give your Xbox Series S temporary access to any physical game you own. And if so, you may need to keep an Xbox One on standby to rescan your drives.

Keep in mind that this is just a patent. It may never become a real service, and judging by its complexity, I doubt Microsoft will go all the way. But it’s interesting to see Microsoft address the Xbox Series X’s biggest problem: wait, just sell an extra disc drive! It’s not that hard!

Source: Game Rant

Xbox Series S could get an external disc drive

The main trade-off with the cheaper Xbox Series S compared to the Series X is the lack of a disc drive, but Microsoft might have a solution. He patented an external disk drive (via GameRant), which would allow the digital-only Series S to play physical game discs. This would effectively allow you to play disc-based games through the console.

How? By validating your ownership of a physical game and then allowing you to access an online digital version. So while it wouldn’t play the game directly from disc, it would let you enjoy the same experience by routing it online.

The system would involve two devices – one with an optical disc drive to read the game disc and connect to Xbox servers to confirm your ownership, and one to download the digital copy.

In the patent, Microsoft says the primary use would be for backwards compatibility, as it would allow Xbox gamers with a stacked library of physical game discs from older consoles to enjoy those titles on their Xbox Series S without a drive. of disk.

It is likely that the system would be able to check if a game has already been verified, in order to prevent digital piracy. Alternatively, you can just borrow a game disc from someone and download a digital version to keep in your library forever.

As always with patents, there’s no mention of when this might become a reality, if at all. A lot is still up in the air, but this looks like a promising step for anyone with a large library of game discs that they want to continue enjoying.

One developer’s Xbox struggles may show how Game Pass is already changing games

Recently, developer The Game Bakers announced that they will be releasing an unexpected update for Furi, his sleek 2016 mashup of bullet-hell action, where players battle a parade of demanding bosses. This update, including a new character and an improved version for PlayStation 5 players, would be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Switch. Very precisely, it would not be released on Xbox, even if Furi originally posted there. Which has caused some understandable frustration from people who exclusively play on Xbox.

“We heard from all of you who played Furi on Xbox and we understand your frustration,” reads a series of tweets from The Game Bakers, trying to explain why he skips the Xbox. “We are a small indie team and couldn’t find the time and budget to do this port.”

Furi is the definition of a cult classic, a game with a small but dedicated following that maintains constant word of mouth about its quality, helping it sell over time. But it didn’t become a cult classic on all platform, and more specifically, it didn’t catch fire on Xbox, a space where, according to the developer, the best path to success is Game Pass or bust.

All of this gave the studio immense pause when considering revisiting Furi in 2022.

The game has sold “year after year,” according to The Game Bakers co-founder and president Audrey Leprince in an interview with Waypoint, and a break between major projects has given The Game Bakers the opportunity to tweak and add more. Furi.

The problem, however, is that updating a game isn’t as easy as pushing a few lines of code and re-exporting the art at a higher resolution. There are huge logistical challenges.

“Apart from the game design, code and assets of the new [character]”, said Leprince, “we needed to update an old game completely on all platforms: update engine, SDK [software development kits]middleware, all platform-specific content, test all these versions, pass the platform check and re-release.

There are a lot of i’s to dot and t’s to go through, and came right after the release of its latest version, Havena game about two space lovers leaving their lives to forge something new. Haven shipped simultaneously on many platforms – PC, Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X – and required navigating release requirements in multiple regions, including Europe, the Americas, Japan and Asia.

The team is only 12 people and The Game Bakers does not work with a publisher. In many cases, the reason for working with an editor is that they can help you with these many small details.

Plus, the numbers didn’t lie. Furi on Xbox was selling “less and less”, and according to Leprince, and accounted for less than a “third” of sales on Switch, often considered one of the best places to sell indie games on the market’s biggest crapshoot . The problem was compounded by the inability to secure future promotions for Furi on the Xbox storefront for better awareness, and Haven “didn’t sell at all” on Xbox, outside of its Game Pass partnership.

You can see how sales break down explicitly, according to this chart provided by The Game Bakers, first showing what it looks like with Game Pass downloads:

And here, without Game Pass:

How 'Haven' sold on various platforms, not including Game Pass.

“We spoke to the Xbox team to see if there was a way to get help, but Furi didn’t fit the Game Pass strategy focused on new titles,” Leprince said. “That’s why we made the decision not to bring the DLC to Xbox at launch: the chances of the investment not being recouped were high.”

“Unfortunately, without Game Pass, it’s also very difficult for many indie games to be seen on Xbox.”

Because The Game Bakers is self-funding and publishes its games, the math has to add up.

For context, a third of FuriThe budget of, according to Leprince, was funded through a PlayStation Plus partnership with Sony, while a quarter of HavenThe budget for was funded by a Game Pass deal with Microsoft. Both meant the games were briefly “free” on both platforms.

“Being self-published is a different exercise than having an editor, that’s for sure. It at least gives us a lot of creative independence,” Leprince said. “But every game also requires a lot of business development and partnerships. We don’t make enough money with our games yet to be able to completely self-finance the next ones. Especially since our games cost between 1.5 and 3M€ [1.58 to 3.16 million USD] to develop. We are therefore grateful for the opportunities that partners like Sony or Xbox offer us.

For comparison, here’s how Furi sold on various platforms, first including downloads through its PlayStation Plus offering:

How 'Furi' sold on various platforms, including PS Plus. (

And now without PlayStation Plus numbers:

How 'Furi' sold on different platforms, without PS Plus. (

The future of Xbox is tied to the future of Game Pass; it’s the company’s ambitious pitch for the future of how video games will be played by a much wider audience than those who buy an actual Xbox. But Game Pass is only a few years old, and it’s only now that we’re beginning to see how its priority at Microsoft can and will impact games being made.

“Game Pass is such a fantastic platform for gamers,” Leprince said, “so there may be more Xbox gamers than ever interested in indie games. Unfortunately, without Game Pass, it’s also very difficult for many indie games to be seen on Xbox.

If you’re a developer who changed your design, production, or marketing because of Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or other subscription services, I want to know how you got there. My email is [email protected], my signal number is 224-707-1561.

Leprice does not know exactly why Furi connected more strongly on PlayStation than Xbox, although she theorized the platform’s “strong connection to Japanese games”, which also influenced the design of Furi, may have played a role. But the game also feels very French.

“We’re not sure!” she says. “We’d like to know though!”

There’s a reason Xbox owners are hopeful. The unexpected outcry caught the attention of the developer, and if Furi sells enough, a return to Xbox is possible down the line.

“We sincerely hope the DLC will be a big hit,” Leprince said, “so that we can bring it to Xbox in the near future.”

Steam is making the RPG 100% free for a limited time

On Steam, an RPG has been made 100% free for a limited time. Alongside a few other genres – like first-person shooters and strategy games – the role-playing genre feels right at home on PC. Apart from the rare PlayStation, Nintendo or Xbox exclusives, all the great role-playing games of the last generations have arrived on PC and work better on PC. For example, the best place to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is on PC, assuming you have the PC to enjoy what the game offers on the platform. Unfortunately, The Witcher 3 was not made free on Steam. What has however, is “Get In The Car, Loser!”.

Described as a “lesbian road trip RPG” by developer Love Conquers All Games, the title was released in 2021. If you want your Xbox console to reflect your personal style, try changing its look by adding a refreshing wallpaper. The process is really simple and does not take more than a few minutes. Here’s how you can change wallpaper on xbox one console.

How to Change Wallpaper on Xbox One Console

There are several ways to change background or change wallpaper on Xbox One console. For example, you can

  1. Use the art of realization

The art of success as a wallpaper

This piece of art lets you personalize your Xbox One console with art from your favorite Xbox games. Simply browse through your unlocked achievements and set any achievement art as your wallpaper or lock screen. Do this,

You can even set a custom image as wallpaper on the Xbox One console. However, before you do that, you’ll need to download the image to your flash drive, then plug that flash drive into your console to add it as a background or wallpaper.

Custom wallpaper

Go to My color and my background tile and select the Custom picture tile there. If the console already has a media application installed, the flash player will be instantly visible under it. Select it and find the image you want to use.

Here, scroll down to the screenshot thumbnail to select it.

The action, once confirmed, will take you to a page with all screenshots captured on your Xbox console.

Screenshot as wallpaper

Select a screenshot and press the Menu button on the controller. Choose the More actions option visible in the form of three horizontal dots and from the list displayed there, select the option Set as background option.

What is Xbox Cloud Gaming and how does it work?

Xbox Cloud Gaming is Microsoft’s aptly named cloud gaming service, and allows anyone with a decent internet connection to stream games remotely to their laptop, web browser, phone, tablet or any other where she can install the application.

So how does it work? Usually, when you download and play a game on your Xbox, all the processing of game code and graphics happens on your living room console. With Xbox Cloud Gaming, you don’t need the console.

Instead, all of this complex processing is handled online on one of Microsoft’s server farms, and the resulting video stream is streamed to your device over the internet. You’re essentially playing games on a shared Xbox Series X hundreds of miles away, rather than just one in the same room. Think of it like watching a live Twitch stream, but you can control what’s happening on screen.

However, this has some drawbacks. Inputs from your controller take a fraction of a second to be sent to the server, and the video stream takes fractions of a second to return to your device, so cloud gaming can feel less responsive in fast-paced games. As internet speeds improve, this delay becomes less and less noticeable, although anyone with a slower internet connection will see reduced performance and dropouts.

To help mitigate this, the game’s resolution can be dynamically scaled down and compressed to take up less bandwidth, so you sometimes get less visual fidelity than when playing a game you’ve downloaded.

Cloud games also have great advantages. The most obvious is that you can play the latest Xbox Series X games without owning the console. You can even stream them to your iPhone or Android device, as long as you have a compatible Bluetooth controller.

How does Xbox cloud gaming work?

If you already own an Xbox, streaming still has advantages over downloading. Since Xbox Cloud Gaming games run remotely on a very powerful server, you can directly access any game without waiting for a download to complete. Load times are reduced and you can join your friends in multiplayer gaming sessions as easily as pressing play on a Netflix movie.

‘Forza Horizon 5’, available on Xbox Cloud Gaming

Microsoft hasn’t said outright that Xbox Cloud Gaming is here to replace traditional console gaming, but the company is laying the groundwork to expand its audience far beyond just gamers who own an Xbox. Thanks in large part to Microsoft’s success in deploying Azure data centers in countries around the world, the company is well ahead of rival Sony in bringing cloud gaming to anyone with a screen and a computer. an Internet connection.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is part of Microsoft’s new “Xbox Everywhere” initiative, which, if successful, could eventually make the physical Xbox console redundant. Just as Netflix and Spotify conspired with widespread broadband adoption to kill Blu-Ray players and personal music collections, cloud gaming could turn Xbox from a commodity into a service.

How to Use Xbox Cloud Gaming

The number of devices supporting Xbox Cloud Gaming is growing rapidly, but whichever way you decide to play, you’ll first need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (£10.99 per month, Xbox.com) . New members get their first month for £1, and you’re free to cancel whenever you want.

However, as of last week there is an Xbox Cloud Gaming title that you don’t need to pay for. Fortnite was recently added as a free game, with even more free games expected to arrive in the coming months. This means you don’t need to pay for an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to play Fortnite on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but you do need to create a free Microsoft account. Once registered, you can browse and play games on the Xbox Cloud Gaming homepage.

‘Fortnite’, available for free on Xbox Cloud Gaming

(Epic Games)

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives you access to a mobile library of over 100 games, including day-of-release Xbox Game Studios games, indie games, third-party games, and classic titles from as far back as Xbox. origin. Not all of these games are available on Xbox Cloud Gaming, but most are.

Microsoft is also working on an Xbox streaming app for smart TVs and an Amazon Fire TV dongle-style dongle that will allow any TV with an HDMI port to instantly stream Xbox games to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Does Xbox Cloud Gaming work on iPhone?

Yes. Apple did not initially support the Xbox Cloud Gaming app on iOS, citing App Store rules on how paid content and in-game purchases work. Microsoft managed to work around the issue by integrating Xbox Cloud Gaming in a web browser. Rather than downloading an app, iPhone users can simply go to Xbox.com/play in the Safari browser to launch Xbox Cloud Gaming as usual.

Interestingly, this new setup means iPhone users can play Fortnite again for the first time since Epic Games removed the game from the App Store, following a high-profile row with Apple over reduction in platform profits.

‘Microsoft Flight Simulator’, available for free on Xbox Cloud Gaming

There are games that can be played using touch controls, fortnite is one, but for a more comfortable, console-like experience, you’ll want to use a phone clip to tether your iPhone to a compatible Bluetooth controller, like the official Xbox Wireless Controller (£54.99, Bt.com) or even the PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller (£49.99, Currys.co.uk).

Is Xbox Cloud Gaming free?

Xbox Cloud Gaming isn’t free, with one exception. Microsoft has partnered with Epic Games to bring fortnite to the Xbox Cloud Gaming service for anyone with a free Microsoft account. This means you can open a new browser tab right now and be playing in minutes.

To play games that are not fortnite, you’ll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription (£10.99 per month, Xbox.com). The company also suggested that it plans to bring more free games to Xbox Cloud Gaming in the coming months.

A Fortnite and Fall Guys crossover event could be on the way

It looks like a Fortnite and Fall Guys crossover event is on the way.

As spotted by PCGNFortnite leaker iFireMonkey recently noticed that two mysterious new URLs had been registered – Epic Fallguys Extension and Epic Fallguyz Ektenzion – which until recently were redirecting to the official Fortnite site anyway.

Now iFireMonkey believes they are related to a Fall Guys x Fortnite trial event, and the URLs have been updated accordingly. If iFireMonkey is correct, the crossover event will not happen on just one game, but on both at the same time.

There’s no official confirmation, of course, so for now all we can do is take the news with the proverbial bucket of salt until Epic or Mediatonic somehow confirms. of another. But given that Epic Games owns Mediatonic, some fans are wondering why it’s taken so long for the games to come together – especially since leaks on a Fortnite / Fall Guys collaboration started swirling over a year ago now.

ICYMI, Fortnite has technically returned to iOS devices thanks to expanded Xbox Cloud access and Microsoft’s new partnership with Epic Games. As Catherine Gluckstein, vice president and chief product officer of Xbox Cloud Gaming, explained in a new blog post earlier this week, Fortnite is now available for free through the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta in 26 countries.

Although you can no longer download the game to your Apple or Android device from the store, if you have a Microsoft account and internet access, you can play Fortnite via the cloud directly in a web browser without worrying about a download. or a membership. As Austin summarized in his excellent report at the time, Fortnite is also available on Windows PCs – but, let’s face it, it’s not that complicated to get Fortnite on this particular platform…

As for other Fall Guys news? Last I heard, Fall Guys developer Mediatonic has confirmed that it’s “finalize” the Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions of the game…but we haven’t gotten a solid release date for them yet.

Xbox Live users currently cannot access digital games

Xbox users hoping to enjoy weekend games have had a rough day as several gamers are reporting massive issues with Xbox Live. What makes this partial outage so problematic is that the issues are not just affecting online connectivity, but preventing users from accessing digital content in general.

These Xbox Live issues began earlier today with streaming apps such as Netflix and Disney+, with content in those apps inaccessible for about four hours. Although this issue was eventually resolved, new issues arose soon after. For unknown reasons, users are currently unable to purchase digital games from Xbox Marketplace or start sessions through Cloud Gaming. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

RELATED: Xbox Game Pass Confirms Another New Game For May 2022

Not only are Xbox users unable to purchase new games or use Xbox Cloud Gaming services, they also cannot access their digital games. Even if players have a fully downloaded digital game or attempt to load an Xbox Game Pass title they’ve been playing for hours, they may not be able to launch the game at all. It goes without saying that this is a major issue, although the official @XboxSupport Twitter account has confirmed that the issues are being investigated and a fix is currently in the works.

While there was a brief period earlier today when @XboxSupport reported that the issues had been resolved, it appears the fix was only temporary. Just three hours after the Tweet was posted that gamers could start enjoying their weekends and playing their favorite Xbox titles again, a post mentioned that the same problems launching and buying games had returned. Cloud gaming sessions still can’t start either. No ETA has been provided for a fix at the time of writing, so players will want to keep an eye on social media for updates.

On the Xbox Support website, fans can check the current status of Xbox Live and keep an eye out for issues. Currently, the majority of the services are up and running, with multiplayer games, friends and social activities, and an account and profile all listed as up and running. The sections marked as “limited” are Cloud gaming, Games and gaming, and Store and subscriptions. The issues in question apply to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles, so all players in the Xbox ecosystem could be affected by the issues.

Hopefully a fix for this Xbox Live issue arrives soon, as this fix is more permanent than the one from earlier today. With Xbox fans unable to play their digital games, stream from the cloud, or add to their game collection, many are understandably frustrated.

Play Civilization and Overcooked for free on Xbox this weekend

If you have an Xbox, you don’t have to worry about finding new games to play this weekend. Starting today (May 6), Microsoft is offering three great games, for free, through Sunday. If you want to play Civilization VI, Overcooked, or Call of the Sea, but don’t feel like spending tens of dollars for the privilege, now is your chance. All you need is an Xbox console and an Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold membership.

The information comes from the official Xbox Wire blog, where Marketing Program Manager Dan Hickey described the weekend promotion. The process is about as easy as it sounds. From Thursday, May 5 through Sunday, May 8, three Xbox games are free for Game Pass and Gold subscribers: Call of the Sea, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, and Overcooked! All you can eat. You can download and install the games through the Xbox storefront and play them until 11:59 p.m. PT on Sundays.

If you decide to buy the games, you might be pleased to know that two of them are on sale. Call of the Sea, which usually sells for $20, is now $12. Civilization VI’s standard version, usually $30, is now $9; the Anthology Upgrade Pack, which used to be $50, is now $25. Overcooked, however, is still at its standard price of $40, so taking the plunge may require a bit more consideration.

In case you’re unfamiliar with all three games, they’ve all received massive praise from critics and fans alike. Call of the Sea is a puzzle/adventure game in which you play as a 1930s explorer in search of a lost civilization in the South Pacific. Civilization VI is the latest entry in Sid Meier’s beloved strategy series, where you guide one of humanity’s most influential cultures from the Stone Age to the Space Age. Overcooked! is a multiplayer board game, where you and a partner manage an increasingly chaotic kitchen. (It’s a great game to play with your partner.)

While free weekends aren’t uncommon, it’s relatively rare to see three games featured at once. It’s even rarer that all three of these games are good enough. While it’s a little disappointing that “free” games require paid subscriptions, it’s hard to think of another downside to the deal. You can play the games for three days; you can buy two at a discount afterwards; all of your achievements and save data will be retained. Take a look and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Release date, pre-order info, gameplay and more

Redfall is a fascinating new project from Arkane. Breaking the mold set by their previous immersive sims, it’s a cooperative shooter focused on intense action and teamwork. Let’s hope that this brave new decision will bear fruit. Here’s what we know about it so far.

Redfall release date

At the moment, we don’t have a release date set yet. Last year it was announced that it would arrive in the summer of 2022, but we haven’t seen many updates since then. There’s a new Xbox and Bethesda showcase in June and, if we don’t see a Redfall release date so, it seems likely that we might see some delay.

If we see an official release date soon, we’ll update you here on all the news.

Redfall Pre-Order Details

The Bethesda site has a full page dedicated to Redfall but we don’t have any pre-order details yet. It seems likely that these will come with a release date announcement.

On the page, you can access an Arkane community and download an exclusive wallpaper for free. Along with that, you can download unique images, reviewing our four main characters as well as general atmospheric stills. You can access the site here.

Redfall Gameplay Details

Redfall is a cooperative FPS in which you play as one of four main characters. You are placed in the town of Redfall, Massachusetts which has been cut off from the rest of the world. In doing so, the vampires stalk the humans and a vicious cult mysteriously supports them. You and your buddies will be the last defense against their evil plans.

Although we’ve seen a trailer, we haven’t seen any official gameplay yet. It seems to be inspired by co-op shooters like Back 4 Blood and Left 4 Dead, but with a vampire twist. All main characters have special powers, functioning much like a hero shooter. You have to choose your character and drive a stake through your enemies.

Xbox May Update Adds New Social Feature and More

Xbox’s latest monthly update is out, which usually means a few new features for users, along with fixes for some issues and other tweaks. The same is true this month as well, with the May update now available to introduce two main features. One of them is a social feature that will allow Xbox users to better show off what they’re up to, and the other is a tagging service that could also be construed as a social feature, given that it can help to preserve the quality of the various social activities in which the players could participate.

This console update doesn’t come with traditional patch notes like any other update, but Xbox has once again posted a lengthy article about its contents in the Xbox Wire. There, Xbox talked about the new “stories” feature coming to the Xbox app. It’s a feature already used in social networks like Facebook and Instagram, and it will allow players to create a sort of quick slideshow for their friends to watch.

“The Story Channel is located right on the home screen of the Xbox app,” said Kristen Mann, Senior Manager of Group Programs on the Xbox Experiences team. “To create a story, click the + button for your gamertag located in the stories channel, then select the game clip, screenshot or achievement you want to post from the gallery. Once selected, you will be taken to to a story preview page where you can choose to add a caption to your post, then click the post button at the bottom right. The story channel displays content from the last 72 hours, and anything you share is also posted to your activity feed on your profile.

Another new feature added this time is “Quality of Service Marking”. With this tagging option, users can flag certain features that they like most often so that they get priority in case of online congestion. These include things like multiplayer elements as well as party chat with more information found on Xbox’s support page.

“Quality of Service (QoS) marking is a feature that prioritizes values on latency-sensitive outbound network traffic, such as party chat, console streaming, and multiplayer (in supported games) “, reads the support article. “Under ideal networking circumstances, you shouldn’t notice much difference between tagged and untagged traffic. But during times of network congestion, supported networks will prioritize tagged traffic over untagged traffic. untagged or lower priority tagged to reduce latency and throughput impacts.”

Xbox’s May Update should be ready to download now for those who haven’t set those builds to download automatically.

Yu Gi Oh! Master Duel celebrates 30 million downloads

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Konami official! online simulator has taken another impressive step. It was recently announced this Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel surpassed 30 million downloads worldwide in the game’s third month of release. To celebrate, every player with an active account can log in to receive 1000 free gems, which is enough for a pack 10 packs in the in-game store.

Yu Gi Oh! Master Duel was a huge success for Yu-Gi-Oh! brand. With many new and returning players, the game features a card pool of nearly 10,000 unique cards with a rich single-player experience and great presentation through soundtrack, animations, and UI.

But the game is not without flaws. With fans asking for more content with only two new packs introduced in the game’s first three months, the map pool lacks the latest versions of the physical game, rendering the meta stale. Speaking of outdated meta, the game’s first banlist announcement caused a backlash after the announced cards weren’t enough to influence the game’s meta. Additionally, the ranking system may also use an overhaul.

Anyway, the game itself managed to attract a significant number of players, which is evident by the 30 million downloads. This is due to the ease of access to the game. Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is available on virtually all gaming devices and in virtually all countries. Players can play the game on their PC through Steam while being able to play on their home consoles. The game is available on Microsoft’s Xbox Series S and Series X as well as the Xbox One. It is also available on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The Nintendo Switch is also a way to play the game. Of course, a big market for the game is on mobile devices and it is available on both iOS and Android.

No, leaving your PS5 and Xbox on standby isn’t the reason your energy bill is so high

Big companies always blame video games for something. Usually it’s violence, as any longtime player will tell you. But rising energy bills are certainly a novelty. This time around, British Gas claimed that switching off ‘vampire appliances’ could save you ‘on average £147 a year’ or $183.

Outlined in a BBC News report, British Gas has advised customers to check which devices are left plugged in – laptops, TVs, phones, consoles, you know the drill – and switch them off to save money. That’s standard advice, but given the recent UK cost of living crisis, it’s come down like a lead balloon, with many calling these figures inaccurate.

As noted by Eurogamer, one response read: “This is factually incorrect and a shameless act of fearmongering on the part of British Gas. Televisions are required by law to use 0.5 watts or less per hour on standby since 2013. That’s 4.38kW per year. With electricity at 30p/kW it will cost £1.31 per year. To say it costs £24.61 is a lie.”

For those who don’t know, we have recently seen terrible increases in the cost of living in the UK, which has had a significant impact on Britain’s poorest people. Rents are rising, food prices have risen by 6% on average, and general inflation has increased by 7%. Yet, perhaps unsurprisingly, the average salary increases do not match. Soaring gas and electricity prices are among the most pressing concerns, thanks to an increase in Ofgem’s price cap this month.

In this context, British Gas has been criticized for shifting the blame for the high bill price onto consumers and, in my view, rightly so. Just to be clear, I’m not a British Gas customer, but my own electricity bill goes up by £80 in June to £157 a month (about $195), and that’s just for a two-bed apartment . People everywhere are in a rush and blaming video game consoles for this increase is, frankly, ridiculous.

What power saving settings do I have on the consoles?

Xbox Series S on black background

Times are tough, but that doesn’t mean you have to completely turn off your home entertainment. There’s not a lot of money to turn off devices when not in use. So if you’re looking to find ways to lower your electricity bill while gaming, there are a few things you can do.

Other than lowering the screen brightness or putting it in “airplane mode”, there aren’t many options specifically on Switch, although Nintendo’s overhauled models have reduced power consumption considerably. In a power consumption test, Digital Foundry found that some gameplay scenes used 40-50% less power on these new variants, compared to the original Switch.

On PS4 and PS5, you can go to System Settings > System > Power Saving and Rest Options, although there isn’t much there. All of this provides options to automatically put your PS5 into rest mode after a certain amount of time, choosing what features are available in rest mode like USB charging, and how long before the controllers automatically turn off. There is also automatic screen dimming when your PS5 is idle.

However, Xbox Series X|S consoles go much further with Energy Saver mode, which was recently updated to allow you to download system and game updates. Using 20 times less energy than the sleep mode, this is also the default option when gamers are also setting up their console for the first time. The only compromise is to wait a few more seconds to load your console but personally, I’ll take the hit. I’m just happy that such a step is taken by Microsoft.

You can certainly save a few bucks over the year by keeping your devices turned off, but don’t be fooled into thinking this will suddenly save you a lot of money. The BBC report is tantamount to telling people that if they cancel their Netflix subscription, they will be able to afford a house in a few years. Good.

NBA 2K22 now free on Xbox Game Pass just in time for the Playoffs

The NBA playoffs are in full swing and if you’re looking to get in on that basketball action, NBA 2K22 arrived on Xbox Game Pass this week. Xbox Game Pass members can download 2K’s critically acclaimed NBA game for free on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Basketball fans can follow every round of the NBA playoffs in MyTeam mode and complete diaries for their greatest moments with new Lifetime Diary Groups. This will earn you Moment Player Cards.

MyTeam just launched its sixth season, Zero Gravity, but it’s never too late to jump in and start building your dream team of NBA stars and legends. NBA 2K22 features players from multiple eras of basketball, and the iconic mode now features MyTeam Draft, a multiplayer ode where players choose a full lineup of player cards to build their team.

Of course, there are other modes in NBA 2K22, including MyCareer, a personal journey through your professional basketball career, and MyNBA, the game’s franchise mode. For those playing on Xbox Series X|S, your MyCareer will take place in The City, a huge open-world space where you can complete goals and live the life of an NBA superstar. On Xbox One, you will board the Cancha Del Mar cruise ship which includes various basketball activities.

NBA 2K22 prides itself on being the most realistic basketball simulation, but I don’t think anyone envisioned a season in which the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers missed the playoffs. Or that the Brooklyn Nets, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, would be swept out of the first round. It’s time to take the game into your own hands, play the way you want, and step onto the NBA 2K22 arena.

NBA 2K22 is now free via Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Error 0x800c0005 when playing media on Xbox app on console or PC

There are reports from some Xbox console gamers and Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC gamers that they are getting the Error 0x800c0005 when playing media content (song or music video) on the Xbox app on their respective gaming device. This article provides the most appropriate solutions to fix the error.

This error may mean that the internet connection between your Xbox console or PC and the other service is down. This is often caused by incompatible Network Address Translation (NAT) types.

Error 0x800c0005 when playing media on Xbox app

If the Error 0x800c0005 happened on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One or Windows 11/10 gaming PC when playing media content on the Xbox appyou can try our recommended solutions below in no particular order and see if that helps fix the problem on your gaming system.

  1. Initial checklist
  2. Check your NAT settings
  3. Reset/Reinstall Xbox app
  4. Play media on another app
  5. Reset gaming device
  6. Contact Xbox Support

Let’s take a look at the description of the process involved regarding each of the listed solutions.

1]Initial checklist

Before trying the solutions below, you can do the following and after each task, see if you can play media on your game system without problems:

  • Restart the gaming device. Restart your gaming PC or Xbox console (press and hold the Xbox button on the controller to launch the power center. Select Restart console > To restart) depending on the case. Console gamers can restart your Xbox by following the instructions below.
  • Update game device. Make sure your Windows PC is updated. You can update your Xbox console offline or open the guide and select Profile & system > Settings > System > Updates. Under Updates, select Console update available to begin updating.
  • Check network and internet connection. Make sure the Xbox server status is all green. Otherwise, you can try to troubleshoot any Xbox Live network issues on your PC. On console, if DNS is not resolving Xbox server names, you can troubleshoot this issue as the issue may prevent Xbox Live connection on your gaming device. Additionally, PC gamers may flush DNS as if the DNS settings are corrupted, this may prevent some applications from contacting the internet.
  • Disable or disconnect from VPN or proxy (if applicable). If you have a VPN or proxy set up, the highlighted issue may occur due to some sort of interference that ends up blocking communications between your gaming device and the service. So, disable your VPN/GPN software or reset proxy settings. On the other hand, it might be worth trying connecting via VPN or setting up a proxy to see if that fixes the connection issue if you haven’t configured those services on your device.

2]Check your NAT settings

NAT settings

If you tick all the boxes on the initial checklist but Error 0x800c0005 is always triggered on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One or Windows 11/10 gaming PC when playing media content on the Xbox appyou can check your NAT settings.

Your NAT type is determined by the settings or features of the router on the network you use to connect to the Internet. The Xbox console has the following NAT types:

If your NAT type is To open, your console is properly connected – in this mode a quick reboot will resolve any issues due to a temporary issue with your connection. On the other hand, if your NAT type is Moderate or strictit usually indicates that there is some sort of restriction or blockage that is preventing your console from communicating properly.

This solution requires you to check your NAT type and make sure it is set to To open .

Press the Xbox button on the controller, then navigate to Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings. Now under the section that reads, Current Network Status, please click on NAT Type

PC gamers can change the MAC address on your Windows 11/10 gaming device, and Xbox console gamers can also erase the alternate MAC address. Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address > Clear and see if that helps.

3]Reset/Reinstall Xbox app

Reset/Reinstall Xbox app

You can uninstall the Xbox app on your Windows 11/10 gaming platform and install the app through Microsoft Store and see if that helps. You can repair or reset the app first and if that didn’t help, you can proceed with uninstall/reinstall.

To uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app on your console, follow these steps:

4]Play media on another app

KODI Media Player App

Depending on the app you’re getting the error on, if solution 3]didn’t help, this solution instead requires you to download from Microsoft/Xbox Store, install and use any another Media Player app to play your media on your Xbox console or Windows 11/10 PC.

5]Reset game device

Reset gaming device

This solution requires you to reset your gaming device and see if the problem is fixed. You can reset your Xbox console – but be sure to select the Reset and keep my games and apps option. PC gamers can reset Windows 11/10, but choose the option to keep your personal files.

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released a brand new update for PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Nintendo Switch. That means there’s no annoying server downtime to deal with, so you can download the patch and start playing as soon as it’s installed.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, along with a brief preview of what to expect.

“We have just released a maintenance patch on all platforms to address stability and outfit physics issues,” reads an Epic tweet.

“You will be able to download the patch before launching your game.”

According to a previous tweet from Epic, some outfits weren’t working properly after last week’s update.

“We are investigating an issue with some physics no longer working properly on several outfits as of v20.20,” Epic previously tweeted.

“We will provide an update when we have more information.”

According to Epic, the fan-favorite LMG weapon was not vaulted as part of the 20.20.1 content update.

Interestingly, Fortnite insiders like HYPEX and Shiina have uncovered plans for Epic to release update 20.30 next week.

Fortnite update 20.30 will be a much bigger update, bringing changes to the map, adding new items and many challenges.

In the meantime, fans can purchase new Street Fighter skins and items starting April 28.

“Taking a break from the crane game, World Warriors Blanka and Sakura will soon claim victory on Fortnite Island!

“To celebrate 35 years of Street Fighter, you can grab their outfits and accessories from the Item Shop later this week (starting Thursday, April 28 at 8 p.m. ET). Also show your strength in the Blanka & Sakura Cup for a chance to win a special loading screen.”

Overwatch 2 PVP Beta: How to Get Access and Twitch Drops Explained

The Overwatch 2 beta is finally here, and players can get a taste of revamped PVP gameplay and try out a new hero for a limited time. It’s a closed beta though, so you’ll need to access it before you can play. Luckily, there are easy ways to access the beta if you don’t get an invite. The beta will also run until May 17, so there are plenty of opportunities to get an invite for you and your friends. Here’s how to access the Overwatch 2 beta.

How long is the Overwatch 2 beta?

The beta begins Tuesday, April 26 and will run for three weeks until Tuesday, May 17. There are no specific game periods, so you can play the game normally as much as you want during the three-week beta period.

Times are subject to change, so Blizzard may shorten or extend the beta at any time. There will also be additional beta testing in the future, so keep an eye out for more opportunities to play.

How to enter the Overwatch 2 beta

To play the Overwatch 2 Beta, you need an invite. The beta test runs from April 26 to May 17 and is only available on PC. Invitation emails will go out beginning at 11am PT on April 26, so be sure to check your inbox if you’ve opted in to beta access. Blizzard says more invites may also be sent out later in the beta period, so don’t lose hope if you miss the first wave.

However, there is another way to get a beta invite: Twitch Drops. By watching select Overwatch 2 streamers during the beta period, you can earn beta access for yourself.

How to Get Twitch Beta Drops

If you want to earn access to the Overwatch 2 beta via Twitch Drops, you must watch a participating stream for 4 hours. Twitch Drops are only active for a limited time from 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET to 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 27. If you miss the window, you will not be able to earn Twitch Drops from streams.

The beta FAQ page has a list of partner streamers you can watch.

How to download the beta

The first beta is only available on PC, so you won’t be able to play on PlayStation or Xbox. You’ll also need to own a copy of the original Overwatch to play, which makes sense because Overwatch 2 just adds more content to that game’s base. Once you have access to it, you can download the beta client through the Battle Launcher. net.

What are the Overwatch 2 beta modes and heroes?

Most of Overwatch’s original heroes will be present in the beta, and players will also have the chance to test out Sojourn, the game’s new playable character. players will also be able to familiarize themselves with the changed characters during the beta.

The game’s new Push mode will also be playable in the beta, providing an alternative to the original game’s proven payload play mode. In this mode, two teams compete to push a robot from the center of the map towards the enemy team’s spawn. The team that pushes the bot the farthest wins.

Of course, Overwatch 2 is changing the formula to 5v5 by default, so fans can see how the new team sizes affect the game as a whole. There’s a lot to see in this closed beta, and since it’ll last a month (with more testing to follow), expect to see plenty of Overwatch 2 in the weeks to come.

When is the next beta?

There will be more beta sessions, but Blizzard has yet to reveal any details about that. They will probably take place this summer and will probably require an invitation. An open beta will almost certainly take place before the official launch, so you’ll have a chance to play eventually even if it takes a while.

Monitor 2 is currently in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

What is Electronic Arts EA Play?

When the service started, it was originally called EA Access, but the name has since been changed to EA Play. The service is similar to Xbox Game Pass where subscribers get unlimited access to all the best EA games. Additionally, subscribers have the option to play new EA games first up to 10 hours before the official release date. If at some point the player wishes to purchase the game, they will receive a 10% discount. Keep in mind that new Electronic Arts games aren’t released on EA Play on the day they’re released, so it’s not 100% the same as Xbox Game Pass.

How do I get EA Play through Xbox Game Pass?

All you need to do is subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and right away you’ll be able to enjoy all the cool games EA Play has to offer at no extra cost.

What is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

This is the most expensive tier of Xbox Game Pass, and it includes basic Game Pass features plus Xbox Live Gold and EA Play.

Best Wii U exclusive games to download before the eShop closes

It’s no secret that Nintendo’s Wii U was a commercial failure shortly after its launch in November 2012, putting the company in a tough spot in the console market. However, that doesn’t mean the system doesn’t have a full library full of great exclusives that could be gone forever in March 2023 when the eShop closes.

The Wii U has already been on life support. Nintendo halted production in January 2017, two months before the Switch even hit store shelves. Nintendo plans to shut down the system’s eShop entirely in March 2023, along with the 3DS, meaning players will no longer have access to the digital storefront or the hundreds of games that have been released for the single system.

March 2023 is the date set for the complete shutdown of the eShop, but gamers have an even smaller window to make their final purchases on the 3DS and Wii U, although games can still be redownloaded and DLC, receive software updates, and play online on Wii U and 3DS for the “foreseeable future” thereafter.

On May 23 this year, both storefronts will stop allowing users to add funds from external payment options like debit cards. Nintendo eShop cards can still be used to add funds until August 29, but this could leave you with funds left over and come with more steps than just buying the games.

Just like with the 3DS, once the eShop closes, you won’t easily get many of these games, and many will disappear for good. And while developers, including Nintendo, have consistently ported many of the best Wii U games to the Switch over the past few years, many hidden gems that are exclusive to the console or that work better with the GamePad will be lost over time.

So if you want to give this quirk of a console another chance to try out some of those great experiences, here’s a selection of games you might not play anywhere else (until they’re ported somewhere else).

The Wii U games you need to grab before the eShop closes

Affordable space adventures

If you must try a game on Wii U that isn’t a big name, Affordable space adventures is the one. NapNok Games has created an amazing little puzzle adventure game that makes the most of the system’s GamePad to control different elements of the ship as you explore their surroundings to call for an evacuation while piecing together a mystery surrounding UExplore.

Speed racing neo

You can play the sequel for Speed racing neo, fast RMX, on your Switch, but if you want to experience the second entry into the Fast series and one of the best spiritual successors to Nintendo’s dormant series F-zero futuristic racing franchise, it’s a must-have.

Devil’s Third

Devil’s Third is one of those games you’ve probably heard of or seen, but never played if you weren’t incredibly attached to your Wii U. It went through a very long period of development, starting as a Xbox 360 exclusive before finally releasing for the Wii U as an exclusive in 2015.

It was criticized when it launched in the West compared to the mostly positive responses in Japan, although it is now considered a challenging, intense, and entertaining game with an over-the-top action story. Multiplayer was a big draw for the game, but unfortunately for players, that part has already been shut down.

Pushmo World

Pushmo world is a puzzle game developed by Intelligent Systems that follows the Pushmo series mostly found on 3DS. Players will spend time pulling and pushing blocks to solve surprisingly intricate puzzles through 250 different levels, while enjoying the cute and colorful aesthetic.

chasing the dawn

Broken Rules has developed some great games over the years, and chasing the dawn was one of the studio’s earliest projects. Released as a launch title for the Wii U, the 2D aerial action game has players competing in challenges. It’s a great multiplayer title to play with friends as you compete in different modes, or as a single-player experience when trying to set high scores.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

With Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is set to release in July and the series is only growing in popularity, it’s likely Xenoblade Chronicles X will eventually make its way to the Switch or a future Nintendo console at some point. However, it’s one of the last big Nintendo titles that isn’t just featured on Virtual Console or a remake that gamers should check out, especially if they’re a fan of it. Xenolame or good open-world action role-playing games.

Virtual console

The real loss, once the Wii U Online Store closes, will be the Virtual Console, which includes Game Boy Advance, DS, NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and a number of other systems. There are even Wii games that can now only be obtained from the Wii U eShop, despite technically not being part of Virtual Console.

The N64, GBA and DS selection is where the real value comes in, as many NES and SNES games are now available on Switch through the Nintendo Switch Online service. And, while N64 games are slowly being added and Game Boy support rumored, these DS titles could be digitally locked to the Wii U because they use the GamePad to simulate the lower screen of the Wii U. DS with touch controls.

In total, there are around 74 GBA games and 31 DS games available, including popular titles like Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Sky Explorersthe Pokemon Ranger Games, Metroid: Mission Zero, fire emblemand Mega Man Battle Network.

It’s a little harder to find Wii U-exclusive gems. Many developers have released their games for PC or other consoles alongside Nintendo’s lackluster hardware. However, some of these games use proprietary hardware features or aren’t big enough to get a second life on new consoles, so picking them up here is your best bet to enjoy them until something changes.

Here are some other games worth grabbing. Keep in mind that these are mostly Nintendo’s biggest games, which could possibly come to Switch at some point.

  • NES Remix 1 and 2
  • Star Fox Guard and Star Fox Zero
  • Dr Luigi
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars
  • DuckTales: Remastered
  • Game & Wario
  • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

New target PlayStation Plus release dates revealed by Sony

Sony has announced target launch dates for its all-new, three-tier PlayStation Plus service, giving us our best idea yet of when we’ll be able to start using the service.

In an update to the original announcement on the Official PlayStation Blog, Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan states that they are “making fantastic progress with our launch efforts” and that they will be rolling out the service “slightly earlier in select Asian markets, followed by Japan.”

The post then goes on to list updated target release dates in four regions. These show that the rollout is taking place over several weeks, with Asian markets excluding Japan expected first in late May and Europe last in late June. The schedule is as follows:

  • Asian markets (excluding Japan) – targeting from May 23, 2022
  • Japan – June 1, 2022 targeting
  • Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
  • Europe – targeting June 22, 2022

Ryan also reveals that PlayStation will expand its cloud streaming access to Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. This means cloud streaming is available in a total of 30 markets and Ryan confirms that these newly added markets will also have access to the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus at launch.

Ryan concludes the update by thanking the PlayStation community for their “continued support”, adding that there will be more to share about the service “as we get closer to launch”.

Analysis: what’s new?

The PlayStation Plus refresh was announced late last month, following a flurry of rumors that Sony was looking to launch something that would help it compete with Xbox’s Game Pass service.

The new PlayStation Plus is therefore essentially a merger of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now and comes in three tiers: Essential, Extra and Premium. The Essential tier offers what PlayStation Plus currently offers for the same price: monthly games, online multiplayer, cloud storage and exclusive discounts.

The Extra tier costs a bit more and offers all the benefits of the Essential tier, but adds a catalog of up to 400 first and third-party PS4 and PS5 games to download and play.

Finally, Premium is the most expensive tier, with a monthly cost of $17.99 / €16.99 / £13.49 / ¥1,550. With Premium you get all the benefits of previous tiers plus 340 more games including PS3 titles via cloud streaming, games to stream and download from PlayStation, PS2 and original PSP generations , and time-limited try-before-you-buy trials.

Multiple tiers offering a progressively larger number of perks should help Sony appeal to a wide range of gamers, especially those looking to dive into older games that might be difficult to access.

Xbox Game Pass is proving a successful venture for Microsoft and, like Game Pass, Sony’s service will give subscribers access to a huge library of games to download and stream. However, one potentially significant point of difference is that, unlike Game Pass, PlayStation Plus won’t have new first-party versions on the service on day one of release.

It’s something Jim Ryan has previously said Sony isn’t looking to do, telling the PlayStation Podcast that “putting these games into a subscription service immediately upon release would break that virtuous circle, and we wouldn’t be able to to invest in the way that we’re currently able to. So, we’re not. We’re going to stick with the approach that we have that has served us well for many years now.

Sony’s newly announced target release dates are in line with its previously announced goal of having the service live in most territories “by the end of the first half of 2022”, so it looks like things are going to plan. .

PlayStation Plus adds new levels and a huge library of games starting June 13 in the US

Upcoming PlayStation Plus Tiers will give you access to hundreds of original PS5, PS4, PS4, PS2, PlayStation and PSP games.

Andrew Hoyle/CNET

What is happening

Sony is bundling its PlayStation subscription services, giving console owners an option that includes online play, free games and cloud games for one monthly price, starting June 13 in the US.

why is it important

PlayStation now has a service to rival Xbox Game Pass, which has been a big hit for Microsoft, with over 25 million subscribers.

And after

Sony will reveal more about the new catalog of PlayStation Plus games and its rollout ahead of release.

PlayStation has unveiled its response to Xbox Game Pass last month and revealed approximate release dates on Friday. PlayStation Plus will add Premium, Extra and Essential tiers starting June 13 in the US, giving you access to a catalog of hundreds of games ranging from the original PlayStation to the PS5. This follows month of rumors regarding Sony’s expanded game subscription service, which would have been named Spartacus.

The global rollout will begin in Asian markets on May 23 and Japan on June 1, before hitting the United States on June 13 and Europe on June 22. These are targeted release dates, the company noted, it will gives a little leeway.

the Essential level is the cheapest option and is the same as the Current PlayStation Plusgiving you access to online multiplayer, cloud storage, two monthly downloadable games and exclusive discounts.

Pricing also remains the same at $9.99 per month, $25 for three months, or $60 for one year.

the in addition The tier adds a library of around 400 PS5 and PS4 games to download, along with the benefits of the Essential tier. This will include Death StrandingGod of War, Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Return at launch and will be “regularly refreshed” with first-party and third-party games.

It will cost you $15 per month, $40 for three months, or $100 for one year.

the Prime stage is the largest, adding 340 classic games in addition to the benefits of the cheapest tiers. PS3 games will be available to stream, while PS1, PS2 and classic PSP games will be available to stream or download. It will also include time-limited game trials and the ability to stream PS4 games, as is currently available on the separate PlayStation Now service.

It will cost $17.99 per month, $50 for three months, or $120 per year.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is confirmed as one of the games included in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers.

PS5 performance mode/Screenshot by Sean Keane/CNET

Unlike the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass, which costs $15 per monthmajor PlayStation first-party games will apparently not launch in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium libraries.

“That’s not a road we’re going to take with this new service,” CEO Jim Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz on Tuesday. “The level of investment we need to make in our studios would not be possible, and we believe the ripple effect on the quality of the games we make would not be something gamers want.”

So we won’t get the next one God of War Ragnarok on PlayStation Plus at launch. You will have to buy it separately if you want to play it on the release date. Xbox made Halo Infinite available on Game Pass when it launched in December.

The expanded service will roll out regionally starting in June, starting in Asia, followed by the US, Europe and the rest of the world where PlayStation Plus is available. Sony is aiming to have it available in most of them “by the end of the first half of 2022” (which presumably means by July), while its cloud streaming service will also expand to many. new territories.

PlayStation Now will cease to exist in its current form, with existing subscribers automatically upgrading to Premium tier with no increase in the price they pay “at launch”, suggesting they will pay the new prices once their subscription period ends . It currently costs $9.99 per month, $25 for three months, or $60 per year, so the price will double at three-month and yearly rates.

Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will remain at the Essential tier.

Corrigendum, March 29: The story misstated which levels will include Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It will be available in Extra and Premium tiers.

Why Sony won’t (probably) emulate the PS3

Sony’s next major event update to PlayStation Plus is consolidating its existing services into three tiers, the two most expensive of which offer gamers hundreds of games from PlayStation’s current and past catalog. As the PS5 is only backwards compatible with the PS4, these new plans are the only way for gamers to access PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games on their latest PlayStation systems. Most of these libraries will be directly downloadable, but there is one major aberration: PlayStation 3 games will only be available for streaming, as has been the case on PlayStation Now.

This disparity is disappointing, especially for fans with poor internet speeds who cannot reliably stream games. Following the lack of PS3 backwards compatibility on the PS4, the announcement once again raised the question: why isn’t Sony emulating its Console 2006, which has a fantastic library of games, and could technical issues prevent them from doing so? To find out, I spoke to the developers of fan-made PS3 emulators to understand why the unique construction of PS3 hardware continues to haunt PlayStation. IGN has also contacted PlayStation to comment on the lack of PS3 downloads for PlayStation Plus, but did not hear back at press time.

development hell

The main obstacle to a proper official PS3 emulation might be that, well, the console was built differently. The PlayStation 3 used a unique structure that differed from the relatively simpler Xbox 360 and PC architectures at the time which Sony called “Cell”. The PS3 console’s processor was comparable to that of the Xbox 360, running at 3.2 GHz, but Sony aimed to beef up the processor’s capabilities by including seven floating coprocessors, aka the PS3’s Synergic Processing Units (SPUs), which were sadly complex for the developers.

Here’s a quick rundown of how it worked. The processor configuration allowed the central power processing element (PPE) to offload the complex code to the additional cores. These SPUs could handle parallel mathematical calculations, which made them ideal for complex physics simulations, such as collisions, clothing, and particles. Sony flirted with the concept in the PlayStation 2but boosted the power of PS3 with floating speed forty times faster than its predecessor.

New PlayStation Plus: games confirmed so far

Harnessing the potential of the PS3 – then and now – was not easy largely because the process described above was not automatic. The developers had to code this transfer themselves, creating a multi-step process that resulted in a steep learning curve for programming on the PlayStation 3. We all know the the time constraints that developers face and the widespread crisis problem that can arise as a symptom of these time constraints. When developing for multiple platforms, developers routinely ignored complicated SPUs and just used PPE. When it’s time to put in communication Bayonet to PlayStation 3, producer of Platinum Games Atsushi Inaba described at Edge Magazine how Platinum handed the project over to an internal Sega team. A failure to use SPUs resulted in terrible performance compared to other platforms. Inaba called it at the time “the biggest failure for Platinum so far, the one that really sticks in my mind”. A similar story surrounds the problematic PS3 port of The orange boxwho Valve entrusted to EA rather than attacking it themselves. Simply, re-engineering games for a completely new system like no other was a time-consuming and expensive process, which meant the Cell processor wasn’t utilized to its full extent.

Although millions flowed into the Cell architecture, the complexity of its SPU hardware contributed, in part, to a slow start for the PlayStation 3. Add to that the much higher retail price of the PS3 and the year extra that the Xbox 360 took advantage of before its release, and the PS3’s potential wasn’t realized until late in its life cycle.

Simulate synergy

Sony was aware of the problems its console was causing developers, but made no particular apologies for it at the time. “We don’t provide the ‘easy to program’ console”, CEO Kaz Hirai told Official PlayStation Magazine in 2009. “A lot of people see the downsides of that, but if you reverse that, it means the hardware has more to offer.”

Some developers did not hesitate to criticize Sony’s choices for the architecture of the PlayStation 3 at the time. Gabe Newel, talk to Edge Magazine, called it “a waste of everyone’s time”. Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo, recently says TheGamer that “the PS3 was a nightmare” and that “the hardware was so complex and difficult to develop”. A 2007 doctoral study by Daniele Paolo Scarpazza, Oreste Villa and Fabrizio Petrini supported this, finding that “software that harnesses the cell’s potential requires significantly more development effort than traditional platforms”.

Thirteen years later, the PS3 architecture still causes headaches.

There are several unofficial PS3 emulators available today. On one of them, RPC3, 65% of the PS3 catalog is currently playable. I asked its developers about PS3 emulation issues.

One of the RPCS3 developers, Whatcookie, pointed out that the PlayStation 3’s 128-byte read/write along with the original floating-point format supported by SPUs was the main bottleneck to achieving the goal. declared of 100% compatibility RPCS3. The PlayStation 5 runs on an x86 processor like most computers. This is one of the reasons the PS5 is backwards compatible with the PS4, another x86 system. Both have 64 byte cache lines, as opposed to the PS3’s 128 bytes per line.

“128 bytes of data can be written ‘atomically’ on PS3, meaning they appear as a single event, while on a system with 64-byte cache lines they appear as two events,” Whatcookie explained. .

Thirteen years later, the PS3 architecture still causes headaches.

Cache in this context is essentially made up of chunks of memory. Splitting data into blocks – often called rows – makes the size of this memory more manageable. But that means the PlayStation 3, which can read and write 128-byte cache lines, can ingest its own data much faster and more consistently than the PS5, which reads and writes in 64-byte blocks. This incompatibility can cause major performance issues in addition to those already caused by trying to simulate the console’s Cell structure.

An alternative would be to install SPU furniture on the PlayStation 5 motherboard, which basically means building PS3 hardware into the PS5. This is a method implemented by Sony on the PlayStation 2 and early models of the PS3, both of which included the CPU architecture of their predecessors to allow backwards compatibility with earlier models. But of course, Sony removed those elements from the PlayStation 3 after it initially sold for $300 more than the Xbox 360 in its previous series of consoles. Adding this technology now would not only drive up console prices, but leave those who already own a PS5 without access to this feature.

A Discord RPCS3 user told me that “developing an emulation solution for SPUs would be ridiculously expensive [for Sony] and makes no financial sense. Whatcookie also thought it was, referring to the fact that Sony has only been able to emulate the PS1, PS2, and PSP for two generations.

“If they made a lot of money with these emulators, then I think they would put a lot of money into it,” Whatcookie said.

Depending on how you look at it, Sony’s struggle to emulate the PlayStation 3 is complex or incredibly simple. On the one hand, a costly maze of technological problems makes it seem like a quagmire of complications. Still, it all seemingly boils down to the fact that the whole process is likely prohibitively expensive, at least in terms of interest and profit for PlayStation. That leaves PlayStation gamers with just a few options: stream PS3 games via PS Now (and possibly PS Plus) or hunt down an old PlayStation 3. Either way, it’s more of a hassle than just being able to download games from current consoles, as players. will be able to do with PS1, PS2 and even PSP games.

Either way, maybe don’t get rid of your PlayStation 3 just yet.

The console version of World of Warcraft is not in the works

Activision Blizzard unveils the new expansion for World of Warcraft Dragonflight and indicates that a console version of the MMO is not in the works.

Activision Blizzard recently unveiled the next World of Warcraft expansion Dragonflight, and since then many questions about the ever-evolving MMO have emerged. A thought in the mind of some World of Warcraft fans is whether the game will end up on consoles like Final Fantasy 14.

A lot World of Warcraft fans have wanted the popular MMO on consoles since the beginning, and over the years, despite significant traction, it never happened. Rumors started to spread when gamepad controls were implemented in the game with World of Warcraft: Shadowland‘alpha, but despite some controller support, the game won’t be ported to console hardware. Speaking to IGN, World of Warcraft Director Ion Hazzikostas put the rumors to rest when asked if the MMO will be making the leap to game consoles in the near future.

RELATED: Asmongold Wants to See World of Warcraft Console Release After Microsoft Acquisition

During a recent interview with Ion Hazzikostas, IGN asked if the Activision Blizzard game will receive a console port in the future. Hazzikostas spoke candidly about the future of World of Warcraft stating that the game is “designed from the ground up for PC”. Another game problem World of Warcraft on consoles, it’s the MMO’s reliance on add-ons to customize each player’s experience that Hazzikostas talks about. Although add-ons exist for some console games, such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim, there may be issues with add-ons, according to Hazzikostas. “I think we just looked at how add-ons felt more and more needed at times.”

wow sl ee anduin raid boss fight

Keeping his tone honest, Hazzikostas admits that World of Warcraft players often recommend others download add-ons to modify aspects of the game, and there are add-ons like Deadly Boss Mods that have become a staple of most raid groups. According to the game director, Activision Blizzard wants to do better for its community, and that’s reflected in the UI changes highlighted during the recent Dragonflight revelation of the expansion. Alluding to add-ons that do World of Warcraft playable with a gamepad, Hazzikostas did not discuss whether the gamepad additions with the Shadowland alpha will be improved in the future.

Most players who have tried World of Warcraft with a controller have done this using add-ons in the past, but some have experimented with the Steam Controller in an effort to find the optimal gamepad for their layout. Hopeful Xbox gamers are spreading rumors that World of Warcraft would eventually come to Xbox in competition with Final Fantasy 14 since Activision Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft, but that’s probably not the case, given Hazzikostas’ statement. However, while Hazzikostas stated that World of Warcraft for consoles isn’t currently in the works, the MMO could still make its way there in the future given its longevity.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.

‘MLB The Show 22’ should have been more: review |

Every once in a while, a sports video game comes along that pushes the boundaries, helping us rethink what we can expect from sports games. This year, “MLB The Show 22” does just that.

The latest in the long-running baseball video game series certainly isn’t perfect (more on that later), but that doesn’t stop it from setting a new bar in terms of portability and versatility. One year after “MLB The Show” expanded from PlayStation to Xbox, that expansion now continues on the Nintendo Switch. Essentially, there are now five versions of the best-in-class baseball video game, which can be found on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Along with this expansion, “MLB The Show 22” brings something else (and something a bit unprecedented): cross-platform saves. Two years into this console generation, we’re used to having cross-platform gameplay (“Back 4 Blood” did that to remarkable effect last year), but cross-platform saves open up a whole new world of possibilities, for sports games in particular, thanks to the Switch.

You can start a franchise on PlayStation, save it to the cloud, then drop it on your Switch right before you go on vacation. (You’ll need to purchase each version of the game to take advantage of this benefit, though.) There are also simpler apps: the list vault is no longer platform-exclusive; it’s a whole big bunch of rosters, players created, stadiums created, etc.

Not that the functionality is perfect. To access all of these goodies, you need to sign up for an “MLB The Show” account (because of course), then link your Xbox username, PSN name, and Nintendo Switch console. This process runs smoothly for both Xbox and PlayStation accounts, but the Switch may take a few tries. Get it all, though, and overall the feature works well, and it all sets a new bar for sports gaming in terms of cross-platform connectivity. Madden, for several years, had too few quality created draft classes available for download; imagine if the Xbox and PlayStation platforms had a creative library. The same could happen on “NBA 2K”, if these two sports games follow the example of “MLB The Show”.

The thing is, other imperfections hold the game back. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of “The Show” are pretty stunning, as visually arresting as they have been in years past. The Nintendo Switch version takes a predictable visual step back, dropping the graphics down a notch. This drop does not prevent the Switch version from struggling with frame rate issues, which limits your immersion in the action.

And oh, there’s plenty of action to immerse yourself in. “MLB The Show” gameplay remains as brilliant as it always has been. It’s massively customizable, with several different game options allowing for harder pitching and hitting, and the adaptive AI, which adjusts the difficulty as you show improvement as a hitter and pitcher, remains a standout feature. You can now also transfer your Road to the Show character into other game modes. And the revamped March-October mode now feels like a lightspeed Franchise mode, letting you play it across multiple seasons.

Franchise mode, however, remains a bit disappointing. Yes, it still plays fantastic on the pitch, and it’s a pleasure to manage your team, sign free agents, transfer players from Triple-A to Majors and back and forth, and build your squad pitchers and your lineup. But the overall system clearly lags behind what’s offered by “NBA 2K” – and even the much-maligned “Madden” Franchise mode.

Baseball is known for its hallowed records and the 500 home run club, etc., but you can’t really track the Top 10 in any of those categories in Franchise mode. There is also no Hall of Fame in Franchise mode. And while “NBA 2K” added advanced stat holding several years ago, “MLB The Show” has yet to show, say, top performers in terms of hard hit percentage or goal stats. launch angle for the whole season. It was a missed opportunity in the sport that made sabermetry a thing in the first place.

Also, while improved trade logic was supposed to appear in this year’s game, I was still able to trade for Shohei Ohtani with only a handful of my second tier players; trades remain a little too easy to execute in this game (“NBA 2K” sliders are recommended as a solution here). And there are still no custom-created draft classes, which means your Franchise mode ends up with a crowd of random players if you play it long enough. (Would love to see historical draft classes in this game).

All of this prevents an intriguing game from reaching its ultimate potential. “MLB The Show 22” sets a new bar in a category, and every sports game can take a lesson from it. And it’s quite fun. There’s just more potential to unlock, hopefully next year.

How to Use RetroArch to Emulate Your Favorite Old Games

It’s a tricky dilemma: you want to revisit some of your childhood favorites, but you don’t want to pull your old consoles out of their cardboard graves.

Even if you don’t mind unraveling that awful mess of cables you have in a box somewhere, playing old consoles on a modern flat-screen TV is an exercise in disappointment, with a grainy picture and washed-out colors. And that’s assuming your TV also supports older game formats like composite and component.

So what are your options? Here’s a quick overview.

Entry may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article. We only include products that have been independently selected by Input’s editorial team.

1. Modern consoles can play old games, but at a high price

For most people, the hassle and (apparent) complexity of setting up emulators doesn’t seem worth it compared to just playing their retro favorites on the modern consoles they’ve already set up. While that’s certainly an option – with a limited number of games, that is – it’s just not a very good course of action compared to the alternatives.

Is this the ultimate retro gaming machine? Unfortunately no.Raymond Wong / Entrance

Still, for those of you who are curious, each console offers a limited selection of retro games. The Xbox Series X is capable of playing a fairly large library of games from previous Xbox consoles, although you can only buy some of them, and they aren’t exactly cheap. The PlayStation 5 will offer access to a number of PS1 and PS2 games through the top tier of its revamped PlayStation Plus, although the service won’t launch until June 2022. And, of course, the Switch Online expansion pack + from Nintendo will let you fork over $50 a year for the privilege of playing a few NES, SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis games on your Switch. It may be the worst deal of the three, but it has arguably the best games – although it certainly lacks depth.

Overall, when it comes to emulating games on modern consoles or other devices, the following axiom applies: if it’s 16-bit or earlier ( i.e. the SNES/Genesis generation), Most likely generally works well, but it becomes uncertain around 32/64 bit (PlayStation, N64, etc.) and later years.

2. RetroArch can play almost anything, here’s how to set it up

If you’re unfamiliar with RetroArch, it’s a “front-end” that seeks to provide an all-in-one big-tent emulation solution. Instead of the usual hodgepodge of separate emulators all sitting in your “EMU” folder, RetroArch runs these programs under the hood as “cores”, but gives you a unified GUI you can use to configure controllers, visual settings, etc.

The configuration of RetroArch is quite simple, almost shocking. Simply download your preferred operating system version, install it in a folder and launch the program. After that, go to “Online Updater”, then “Core Downloader” and download the cores corresponding to the consoles you want to play. There are multiple cores for most popular consoles, so check out our guide below to find out which ones you should generally stick with.

High-end reproduction consoles like those from Analogue are a great option, but they require you to own the physical games.Similar

Then it’s pretty self-explanatory. If you already have a repository of legally obtained ROMs somewhere on your computer, you can have RetroArch scan that directory, which will add all those games to a clean, easy-to-read list. Note that you may need to dump your own BIOS in order to play more modern consoles like your PS2, which can be quite a process. (Of course, there is other ways to get the files you need, but obviously I can’t recommend them.)

3. Cool down. Where can I get ROMs then?

Listen, I’ll be honest: there are some things in life that I can’t help you with. Suffice it to say that if you really want to dump the ROMs of games you legally own, there are easy ways to do it. For everyone else, though, you’ll just have to use your imagination. To reiterate, although emulators are 100% in the safe zone (at least in the US), downloading ROMs online is illegal, even if you already own the game – the only legal way to use a emulator is with a game that you have dumped yourself.

Grab does not tolerate piracy. Be sure to check emulation laws wherever you live if you are unsure.

4. So I have RetroArch, but which cores are really worth using?

Overall, emulation has come a long way from the days of garbled audio and endless sprite flickering, but some cores perform better than others. If you are interested in Nintendo consoles, I recommend the following:

There is also Dolphin for GameCube and Wii. The N64 is a bit odd; Although the Mupen64Plus core seems to work quite well, I personally recommend the older standalone Project64, as it’s the most comprehensive experience available. Just to be clear, standalone means you have to download the program separately and run it, which can be a pain. In this case, however, it is worth it.

Emulating newer systems like the PlayStation 2 can be tricky, but it’s much easier than before.sony

When it comes to Sega consoles, you have only one choice: Genesis Plus GX. It can run all Sega boxes, from Master System to Game Gear, and it works pretty well. If you’re having trouble with it for some reason, there’s also the standalone Kega Fusion, but frankly, Genesis Plus seems to work better for most games these days. For Dreamcast, Flycast is also very good, although there are standalone alternatives that some prefer, such as Redream.

Since these are some of the newer machines that people want to emulate, Sony consoles are a bit more complicated. In terms of RetroArch cores, I recommend Beetle PSX for PS1 games, PCSX2 for PS2 games, and PPSSPP for PSP games. However, some PS1 games run better on the standalone DuckStation PSX emulator. There’s also the amazing RPCS3 PS3 emulator, but that’s also a separate download.

5. Everything works, but modern controller D-pads are not good. What should I do?

The 8BitDo SN30 is a great mix of new and old.8BitDo

Unfortunately, this is a common problem with retro games, as the D-pad was supposed to be the main form of directional input until around 2000. There are many counterfeit controllers out there these days with SNES-style D-pads. Of these, I recommend the 8BitDo Pro 2 for an all-in-one game controller, or an 8BitDo SN30 for a more “authentic” retro experience.

6. RetroArch on your phone is awesome

RetroArch is not only available on PC and Mac, it’s also on iOS and Android, and works great. Again, How? ‘Or’ What well the old consoles are emulated depends on the cores. And if you have a foldable like a Galaxy Z Fold or Z Flip or Surface Duo, I mean, see for yourself:

5 Best Addons For Minecraft On Xbox One (2022)

Minecraft Bedrock is one of the two most played versions of Minecraft. While Java Edition is undoubtedly the most popular version of the game on PC, Bedrock Edition reigns supreme on all other platforms that support Minecraft.

The Xbox One edition of Minecraft also falls under the Bedrock edition. While many gamers on this console love the vanilla version, some try to mod it. In most cases for Bedrock Edition this can be done through addons.

They are game extensions that allow users to modify and add new features to the game. While Java Edition mods only change the behaviors of specific entities or add new ones, addons can be described as a complete package. They also contain resource packs or texture packs and mod-like programs.

Note: This article is subjective and represents the opinion of the author only.

Minecraft: five interesting addons on Xbox One

Note: Players can download the add-ons mentioned below from websites such as mcpedl and mcdlhub.

5) Minecars

Minecars is an addon that can add cars in vanilla Minecraft, as well as additional functionality for minecarts. Both vehicle types have the functionality of a fuel source, with resources like coal being used as fuel.

4) Parents

The spawners addon, also called custom spawners addon, allows players to create a mob spawner. This feature is not available in the base game and can be of immense help when seeking XP or finding a fight.

The spawners of different monsters have different colors and textures, thus differentiating them from each other. The particularity of this addon is that mobs do not attack players, which makes it easier to use them to gain experience points.

3) Territorial claim

This addon adds the feature to claim specific lands or areas on the game map. It also adds a feature called chest protection, which can prevent others from stealing the user’s belongings in the game.

Captured land is marked with a flag flying over it, which players place down.

2) Arcade craft

Arcade Craft is a fun addon that adds arcade machines to a player’s Minecraft world. In addition to tons of content and arcade machines, they can also acquire arcade coins, tokens and prizes when playing on the included arcade machines.

Users can also exchange arcade coins for iron and gold bars, as well as diamonds. Besides the popular arcade games, they can also notice an air hockey table and a basketball machine.

1) Rocky backpacks

This addon adds detailed backpacks (over 20) to the game. Each backpack has a different color, allowing players to try to match their armor and other gear to their bag’s color and design back.

Players will first need to craft an item called the “Original Backpack”, which consists of three leathers, three wools, and three ropes. The color of the wool block determines the color of the backpack.

After that, users can dye their backpacks in any color they want. They can also combine a backpack and a chest plate to put them in one slot.

Over the years, Minecraft has established itself as one of the most modified and customized games of all time (we’re talking Skyrim-level customization). PC gamers have benefited a lot from the game’s modding culture, which is one of the few aspects that users of Xbox and other consoles tend to miss.

However, addons can help Xbox One gamers achieve what PC gamers achieve through mods.

Everything you need to know about Xbox Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate

Gaming is gradually becoming one of the most popular pastimes in the world, especially as game companies strive to make games more affordable and accessible.

Xbox is currently leading the way in these efforts, providing its user base with an incredible number of games through its Game pass subscription. The popular subscription service works similarly to Netflix, but for games, and gives users access to a wide range of different titles, all of which come bundled in for one low monthly payment.

Here’s what you need to know about Xbox Game Pass, plus what’s next: Game Pass Ultimate.

What is Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass
Picture via Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is a subscription video game service that gives its users access to a huge library of popular games. A few of them are exclusive to Xbox, but the vast majority are enjoyable on other consoles. Not at the price allowed by Game Pass, however. The service, at its basic level, will offer subscribers $9.99 per month. Game Pass can be purchased for console or PC and provides access to games like Fallout 4the Batman: Arkham collection, and Dishonored free. Each of these games – plus hundreds more – are included in the $10 monthly cost, meaning users can browse dozens of games at their leisure.

Games developed by Xbox Game Studios will be available on Game Pass the same day they are released, giving subscribers near-instant access. The library of games on Game Pass is constantly growing, adding enticing new titles even as older games are removed from the service.

Even games not included in Game Pass are subject to discounts for Game Pass subscribers. While not all games get this treatment, there are enough to make this service a must-have for any avid gamer.

What is Game Pass Ultimate?

Game pass options
Picture via Xbox Game Pass

Game Pass Ultimate takes all the offerings of its little sibling and ups the ante even further. The broadest option will cost players $14.99 per month, but includes enough additional benefits to make the increased cost worth it. Players who aren’t exclusive to a single device can take advantage of Game Pass for their consoles and PC using Ultimate, giving them an even wider library of potential options.

Ultimate also offers cloud gaming, which allows users to enjoy games without downloading them. Using the Cloud feature simply requires users to locate a game they want to try and launch it through the Cloud, which should launch the game immediately – no download time required. Cloud gaming is still a bit glitchy, if we’re being honest, but the idea is stellar. Once Xbox figures out how to reduce lag, this option could be a game-changer.

One of the best things about Ultimate is the added access to EA Play. A base Game Pass for PC subscription will also include this option, but a base console subscription will not. Ultimate and PC Game Pass give users access to EA Play’s vast library of games, which includes titles such as The Sims and Fifa.

For an additional $5 per month, Ultimate will give users access to an additional library of games, as well as Xbox Gold — which offers discounts, specials, and expanded multiplayer options — and cloud gaming. It’s a must-have for avid gamers, especially those who want to try out a wide selection of games.

The game also received a few post-launch updates from Bandai Namco, including a set of three DLC packs. The third and final DLC pack for Scarlet Nexus focuses on antagonist Karen Travers, exploring her backstory and relationships.

Sales of the game increased last year when Scarlet Nexus was brought to Xbox Game Pass alongside AI: Somnium files. Microsoft plans targeted ads in free Xbox console games

Microsoft plans to introduce ads in its free Xbox console games

San Francisco: Microsoft plans to introduce ads into its free Xbox console games, media outlets have reported.

A report in Insider, citing sources, claimed the ads would not disrupt gameplay and would instead appear on a billboard in a racing game.

Microsoft is also concerned that the ads could “irritate” gamers and plans to create a “private marketplace” to let only certain brands into the new program.

According to the report, Microsoft will not use the data it collects from the Bing search engine and other services for targeted ads on the Xbox gaming service.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience for players and developers, but we don’t have anything else to share,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Insider.

Console game users have also witnessed in-game ads in the past, such as EA Games allowing ads in the Madden NFL, Skate, NHL and NASCAR franchises, as well as Burnout Paradise.

Meanwhile, Microsoft recently released a major update for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles that would make it capable of downloading system as well as game updates in power saving mode.

Microsoft also plans to introduce an Xbox Game Pass family plan this year.

The family plan option would provide Xbox Game Pass access for five players and would be cheaper than the cost of separate accounts.

Microsoft would integrate its family account system, which the company also uses for its Microsoft 365 Family subscriptions, reports The Verge.

Microsoft currently offers Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass for $9.99 per month.

The best weekend deals: Google Chromecast, Apple AirPods, and more

It’s the weekend, which means it’s time for another Dealmaster. Our latest roundup of the web’s best tech deals includes a nice discount on Google’s Chromecast with Google TV, as the 4K streamer has dropped to $40 at various retailers. We’ve seen this offer pop up a few times in the past, but it’s still a good $10 below Google’s MSRP. Although we’ve already seen the streaming dongle available for $5 less, this deal required you to sign up for a month of Sling TV service; the current discount is the best price we’ve seen otherwise.

Either way, we continue to recommend the Chromecast to those in need of an affordable streaming stick. It’s fast enough for most needs, its remote control is sensibly laid out and supports all major HDR apps and standards (plus Dolby Atmos). Most notably, we find that Google’s user interface is significantly better at organizing and surface content you might actually like than competitors from Amazon and Roku. Some users have complained that the Chromecast’s 8GB of internal storage is insufficient, but that’s unlikely to be a major issue unless you need to download a particularly high number of apps. And while reports suggest Google will launch some sort of Chromecast device later this year, it’s unclear whether there will be a real successor to this streamer or a new lower-end device aimed at 1080p playback. For casual 4K streaming, the Chromecast should still make finding something to watch quick and easy.

If you don’t need a new streamer, we also have lower than normal prices on Apple’s third-generation AirPods and AirPods Pro, Intel and AMD processors, including a deal that makes the chip top Intel’s i7-12700K lineup cheaper than the non-overclockable i7-12700 we reviewed positively last month – Tile Bluetooth trackers, gaming keyboards, plenty of video games and more. You can check out our full list below.

GTA V was the 3rd best-selling game last week, GTA Online in the top 10

GTA V was the 3rd best-selling game last week in the UK. Last month saw the next-gen re-release of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and it’s proving to be a massive hit for Rockstar Games. The cultural phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down.

As reported by gamesindustry.biz using data published by GSD, GTA V has been pushed back to 3rd place by the new and mega hit LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Elden Ring also had another strong week, reclaiming a spot that Grand Theft Auto V had dethroned it in previous weeks. Despite its downfall, it still holds up to other new titles. Unlike those newer games, GTA V was first released nearly 9 years ago. The new gen version helps it sell copies but does not compensate for every sale.

How successful was the next-gen version of GTA Online?

GSD data shows Grand Theft Auto Online was the 10th best-selling game during the week ending April 10, 2022. GTA Online performance shows that the multiplayer component is still a force to be reckoned with. GTA Online became purchasable as a standalone game for the next-gen version on Xbox Series consoles and free for PlayStation 5 owners. As the download was free on PS5, this data is not tracked in the charts. Despite this, sales of only Xbox Series X/S players put it in 10th position overall in the sales chart.

What impacted this chart?

One important thing to note is that GTA V and GTA Online were sold at a heavily discounted price on Xbox and PlayStation stores. The retail price for the combo of the two games is £34.99, but at the moment it’s currently being sold on Xbox for £17.49 until June. GTA Online alone costs £8.75. And as we mentioned earlier, PS5 players can’t pay for GTA Online until June because the game is free-to-play, meaning they only have to pay £8.75 for both versions. This low price absolutely impacted the game’s success against full-priced games around £50. However, that shouldn’t diminish the success of a re-released game on its 3rd generation consoles in landing new next-gen focused titles.

Rockstar continues to dominate the charts

Red Dead Redemption 2, another highly rated Rockstar title of 2018, ended the week at #6. It may have been released in 2018 and the online segment was neglected by Rockstar, but RDR2 still sells a ton of copies every week. The performance of these three games that aren’t exactly new games shows just how successful Rockstar Games continues to be.

For more GTA 5 and GTA Online news, stay tuned to RockstarINTEL. We will also continue to cover GTA V and RDR2 updates in the video game charts.

Thanks to gamesindustry.biz who first reported this using GSD data; all the credit goes to them.

Scarlet Nexus celebrates two million Game Pass sales and downloads

Xbox Game Pass Boosts Brainpunk Actuator

Bandai Namco’s high-tech action-adventure Scarlet Nexus has sold an impressive million copies since its summer 2021 release on PC and consoles. Besides, the publisher announced that more than two million players have competed in the anime-infused “Brainpunk” universe.

The huge disparity between player numbers and sales is the result of Scarlet Nexus made available on the Xbox Game Pass service, downloads of which obviously don’t count as literal sales. The addition of Scarlet Nexus to the subscription service has resulted in a 100% increase in player numbers, which bodes well for Bandai Namco’s future plans for the franchise, which has already received an anime adaptation.

If you are still curious to check Scarlet Nexus‘ wild world of psychic teenagers, brain-eating aliens and powerful mechanical technologies, so now is the best time, because Bandai Namco has released a new “Story Demo” which, as the name suggests, offers to the curious a bite-size chunk of the story campaign. Any progress made in the demo will carry over to the main game, should you decide to pull the trigger on a full purchase. Need more conviction? Then you can check out Eric van Allen’s review here.

Scarlet Nexus is available now on PlayStation, PC and Xbox platforms.

5 good reasons to subscribe

Microsoft has announced that it’s finally bringing PC Game Pass to the Philippines, giving us all the chance to play a library of games for a relatively affordable monthly price. The software company is running a subscription service preview, which you can sign up for right now. And it only costs P5 for the duration of the initial trial.

But even after that introductory price – the regular monthly price is P119 – there are plenty of reasons why you might want to check out and subscribe to the service. Here are five below:

Large selection of games

Microsoft said that at launch the service offers a selection of over “100 high-quality games,” consisting of a pretty good mix of first-party and third-party choices. Some of Microsoft’s latest Xbox Game Studios releases are here, including Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires IVand Infinite Halo. These are well-received titles that, if you’re not already on the Xbox ecosystem, you might have missed. Other titles from Microsoft include Minecraft, sea of thievesand Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The service also offers games published by Bethesda, which Microsoft acquired last year. These include Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimamong others.

The service also offers a number of notable games from partner publishers, some of which are quite new. These include Square Enix guardians of the galaxyIO Interactive The Hitman Trilogyfrom Ubisoft Rainbow Six Mining and Bandai Namco Scarlet Nexus.

And in case that’s not enough, you also get EA Play, screenshot below, giving you access to games from the publisher’s most popular franchises like The Sims, FIFA, Mass Effectand Battlefield. Last years Mass Effect Legendary Editionwhich brings together reworked versions of the original trilogy of games, is included here, along with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Similar to Netflix, the games rotate however, with some titles being picked up after a certain period as new ones are added. But you can rest assured that Microsoft-owned games will likely stay in the service forever. You’ll also see which games are leaving soon, so you can play them before they leave.

Download and play

Once subscribed, all you have to do is select the game you want to play, download and install it, and away you go. Microsoft’s PC Game Pass isn’t a streaming service – or at least that component isn’t available locally yet. This means that if you don’t have a fast or stable internet connection, you don’t have to worry about your game freezing or lagging while playing. As long as you can download and install the game, you can play normally.

An economical way to discover games

The recently launched subscription service is also one of the most cost-effective ways to discover and play games. Even with strong sales, a single game, say a recent hit release, can still cost upwards of P500. You only pay P119 here for an entire month and even if you only play one game, you still saved a lot.

This works especially well if you’re the type to play one game once and move on to another. If you also don’t want to own the game on a specific platform or service, that works too.

It’s also an affordable option for you to play games you might not have wanted to spend money on. They’re already included, as part of your monthly fee, so might as well give them a try, right?

Access on the first day

Plus, some games will be available on the service on launch day, saving you from having to pay full price for them. Normally there is no way to save money or get discounts on new games. But here, if a game gets day one access, you can play the day it releases by just paying your monthly subscription.

Game Pass shows off some of the titles that were available on the service the day the game was released

Keep in mind, however, that this will not be available for all games. Microsoft says the feature only covers new releases from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, as well as some indies and blockbusters.

Sony, in what appears to be an effort to compete with Microsoft, recently revamped its PlayStation Plus service, adding two subscription tiers that also give you access to a library of games. The company, however, has made it clear that at this time it will not offer day-one access to new games, not even for first-party versions.

In a way, this gives a slight edge to Microsoft’s approach because it gives you more options on how you can buy and play your games. Again, this might seem like an apples to oranges scenario as there’s no overlap between the games available – they’re different titles from different studios.

Local payment options

Previously, to subscribe to Game Pass, you had no choice but to purchase Xbox gift cards from local retailers and top them up on your account for payment. But with the local launch of the service, you can now add your credit card to your account and automatically charge it each month. It basically streamlines the entire checkout process and makes it much easier to subscribe and maintain subscription.

Microsoft said it’s previewing the service to “set up and test local payment systems”, so we don’t yet know how easy it will be to pay for the service – something we’ll have to wait until launch. . Since credit card penetration is not particularly high in the Philippines, more popular instruments such as GCash or Paymaya could help the service gain more users.

You can access the preview right now through the Xbox Insider Hub app. To find it, open the Microsoft Store app on your Windows PC and search for Xbox Insider. We detail the step-by-step registration process here. – Rappler.com

‘Halo Infinite’ now in third person? This mod brings a new perspective

“Halo Infinite”, a first-person shooter title, now has a third-person option, thanks to its new mod.

As such, the third-person perspective isn’t an official option right from the game menu. Instead, it was made possible by the “Halo Infinite” modder.

The ‘Halo: Infinite’ video game is promoted during the Microsoft Xbox press event ahead of the E3 gaming convention in Los Angeles on June 9, 2019.

Third person mod “Halo Infinite”

According to a report by PC Gamer, there have been numerous “Halo Infinite” mods since the first-person shooter launched on November 15, 2021.

In fact, the outlet further noted that several mods have already flooded in a week after the shooter was released from Xbox Game Studios last year.

There were tons of remakes, like a mod that specifically replaced the game’s intro with a Halo dance party. Another then replaced Warthog with a Tank Hog.

However, it turns out that another “Halo Infinite” mod has transformed the entire gameplay experience of the first-person shooter.

The “Halo Infinite” modder who goes by the name of Opulent Halo released a remake of the game title for PC and Xbox consoles, which converted it into a third-person shooter.

It allows users to play the entire campaign on “Halo Infinite” away from the original first-person perspective of the Xbox shooter.

This goes to show that even though “Halo Infinite” was actually released as a first-person game title, there’s still a possibility of going beyond how it was meant to be played.

A trailer for Halo Infinite is released during the Microsoft Corp event. Xbox ahead of the E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, California, U.S. on Sunday, June 9, 2019. Microsoft showed off its new Xbox console which will be four times more powerful than the current generation Xbox One X, thanks to a processor AMD which allows 120 frames per second.

Meanwhile, according to a recent report from Kotaku, there have been quite a few mods that have already attempted to turn a first-person game title into third-person.

However, other modders have failed to justify the change, making this attempt a flawed version of the game. it’s not finished yet.

That said, other mods eager to turn an FPS game into a third-person perspective are essentially unplayable for the most part.

But this time around, Opulent Halo’s “Halo Infinite” mod was incredibly smooth in animation, making it look like it came straight out of the game’s menu rather than a remake.

10 Video Games That Offer Free Next-Gen Upgrades

Next-gen upgrades have become a big part of the industry in recent years. Due to the level of difficulty in finding a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X, the video game studios decided to allow players to purchase the titles on the previous generation consoles, before offering them a free upgrade to the latest platform available.

RELATED: 10 Best Games To Start For PlayStation Newcomers

It’s a great idea that gamers can take full advantage of, with most titles even allowing the transfer of saved data! These are brilliant games to check out, and gamers are glad they don’t have to wait for the legendary day when these consoles are finally in stock to enjoy them.

ten Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019)

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 Sequel Celebration Reveal

Jedi: Fallen Order is perhaps one of the most successful and respected games of star wars the story. The Respawn Entertainment title has launched on a full range of platforms and looks great no matter what console it’s running on. But the free upgrade brings many benefits for both new and old players.

Advanced graphics, faster loading speeds, and smoother gameplay all come with Cal Kestis on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. It’s well worth the console switch, considering how good the storytelling is with such a crisp picture. The galaxy far, far away has never felt more alive than this.

9 Marvel’s Avengers (2020)

Marvel Avengers Black Panther Full Single Player Game

Marvel’s Avengers left a lot to be desired when it was first released, though it made up for it with plenty of updates and the potential for more upgrades in 2022. As for the title improvement, avengers from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix is one of many games offering a free upgrade to next-gen consoles.

Seeking consumer goodwill, it may take a while for the patch to download, but there are notable differences. Vibrant 4K resolution and 60 FPS gameplay complete a title that looks pretty good! These loading speeds are now much more manageable, especially with online play.

8 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020)

Eivor holds two battle axes in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

the Assassin’s Creed franchise has really found its second wind lately and Valhalla was another demonstration of what Ubisoft can do with the series. The game looked stunning on previous-gen consoles, but a free upgrade certainly made it even better.

RELATED: 10 Forgotten Games Available On Xbox Game Pass

The Viking-inspired action title follows the same core mechanics of the series, but on next-gen consoles it now runs in brilliant 4K definition, optional HDR and 60 FPS. It’s the sweetest one Assassin’s Creed game has never played and the environment and textures in particular absolutely benefit from it.

7 Borderlands 3 (2019)

Krieg in Borderlands 3

Borderlands has always been pretty stylized and it was going to be interesting to see how that translates to next-gen consoles. The game from 2K and Gearbox was released long before the expected launch of the latest gaming platforms and hence the developers offered the update for free.

Whereas before fans were treated to Full HD and surprisingly fast loading speeds, the patch that brought the game to PS5 and Xbox Series X enabled 4K resolution and 60 FPS gameplay, as well as faster times. instant loading. It reinvigorated the game and brought the art to a new dimension.

6 Ring of Elden (2022)

Elden Blaidd Ring

Ring of Elden just launched by FromSoftware Inc. and hardcore fans are already trying to find out everything there is to know about this vast world. The game is absolutely massive and truly a testament to what can be achieved on consoles with modern technology.

Although it is a recent release, there are next-gen upgrades as gamers struggle to find a console of their choice. The changes aren’t much different apart from some improved graphics and much faster gameplay. Ultimately, it usually comes down to whether frame rates drop or not.

5 Cyberpunk 2077 (2020)

Jackie_Welles_v1 Cyberpunk 2077 (1)

Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t garner the reviews the developers at CD Projekt RED probably hoped for, but it made an impact in the industry thanks to its unique premise and fun gameplay. There’s nothing groundbreaking here, but it’s a game that, if nothing else, looks visually dynamic.

RELATED: 10 Best Games To Start For Xbox Newcomers

Kind of like with Ring of Elden the choice to have a free update was created for wider access to the title, for those who do not have the consoles. The game still runs at 30 FPS on an upgrade, but loading speeds are faster and the image is just a bit clearer. There are some advantages although the difference is not huge.

4 Forbidden Horizon in the West (2022)

Aloy stands in the sand in Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Zero Dawn demonstrated what Guerrilla Games developers were capable of on previous-gen platforms. west forbidden was actually developed for those older consoles, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work flawlessly on the latest devices Sony has to offer.

Although it may seem strange, players can buy the PS4 version of the game right now and update it for free. There aren’t many differences aside from some speeds and image quality, but at the very least it’s optimized for the PS5.

3 Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020)

Spider-Man Miles Morales PS5

Insomniac Games has really set the bar high with its original web-based Marvel release. But the Miles Morales spin-off kicked into high gear and was the first of the titles to hit PS5, bringing with it the original version in a remake on the Ultimate Edition.

But fans who decided to buy the title early or maybe couldn’t find a PS5 at the time can still get a free upgrade, even with a little extra to access the Ultimate Edition. The save transfer is a real bonus here, as swinging through town flows with such ease.

2 Mortal Kombat 11 (2019)

Liu Kang and Kung Lao inside Wu Shi Academy in Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11 came out long before the next-gen wars started, so it’s great that NetherRealm Studios is allowing players to continue experiencing this great title, even with the Ultimate Edition as well. The campaign and multiplayer aspects are some of the best in the series, with some amazing combos to match.

The free upgrade doesn’t just allow players to use the PS5 or Xbox Series X, it actually updates the visuals to bring them to dynamic 4K resolution. The difference is profound and loading speeds are of course noticeably faster alongside this.

1 The Witcher III: Wild Hunt (2015)

The fastest ways to make money in Witcher 3

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is easily one of the best games ever made. It found its way onto the previous generation, but in 2022 fans will be able to experience a remastered version of the title that plays best on the latest consoles available. But it will still be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Regardless of the platform the player purchases it from, there will be free upgrades primarily designed for those who have had the game in the past. The backup share is unconfirmed at this time, but there is no doubt that the witcher world will be more detailed than ever.

The Best External Hard Drive for Xbox One – WBOY.com

What are the best external hard drives for Xbox One?

When the first video games came out, they fit comfortably on several floppy disks. As games improved, the format was replaced by 700MB CDs and eventually 4.2GB DVDs. Naturally, you also needed a hard drive to store all the data.

Today, as digital downloads have become more prevalent than physical discs, the need for an external hard drive is increasing. Gaming consoles haven’t been spared from storage limitations, which is why you’ll need something like the Seagate Game Drive Hub for Xbox One. Check out the Best Reviews buying guide for a full list of options.

What to know before buying an external hard drive for Xbox One

Size and location

Depending on the design of the hard drive enclosure, this can be quite a bulky device. Generally, you can’t use external hard drives in horizontal and vertical positions, which makes placement much easier. Consider the size of the hard drive and where you will place it to ensure that it is both out of reach and accessible to the Xbox One console.

Storage capacity

External hard drives for Xbox One come in a variety of storage sizes. The console has a built-in hard drive, but that can fill up quickly if you have a lot of data. Analyze your gaming habits and your library to determine what hard drive size will be sufficient for your needs.

Additional components

An external hard drive will connect to the Xbox One console via a supplied USB cable. But that’s not the only way to use it. Some manufacturers sell additional components that allow the disc to be clipped directly to the console. If so, you may want to consider additional cooling options.

What to Look for in a Quality External Hard Drive for Xbox One

High speed data transfer

It is extremely important that you use an external hard drive with high speed data transfer rate. If you want to download the upgraded versions of Xbox games, you can only do that on high-speed players. A good quality external hard drive for an Xbox One will have a transfer speed of around 200MB per second. SSDs can go up to 540MB per second.

Robust housing

Protecting your hard drive is also the best way to protect your data. Since the reader is in place, it must be moved, especially when in use. A quality hard drive will have a sturdy casing to protect the external hard drive from light knocks and handling.

USB connectivity

The only method of connecting an external hard drive is via the USB cable. Coupled with hard disk transfer speed, USB speed also plays a vital role. A good quality external hard drive will have a USB 3.0 port and support corresponding speeds.

How much you can expect to spend on an external hard drive for Xbox One

The cost of an external hard drive for your Xbox will depend on the drive’s brand and storage capacity. Small drives can cost around $80, while larger storage options can cost up to $200.

Xbox One External Hard Drive FAQ

Can you use any hard drive with an Xbox One?

A. Yes, as long as the hard drive can connect to the Xbox via a USB connection and is formatted to the correct file system. Xbox can do it for you.

Do I need an SSD or a hard drive?

A. The difference between an SSD and an HDD will be the transfer rate. SSDs tend to be more expensive than HDDs, but operate at a much faster transfer speed. The storage capacity of SSDs is usually also less than that of HDDs.

Sonic the Hedgehog’s second outing first appeared on the Sega Genesis in 1992, but 30 years later it’s still one of the character’s best games. sonic the hedgehog 2 starts out similar to the original game, but it features a number of improvements. The most notable of these, and the one that puts it on this list over the original sonic the hedgehog, is the spin dash movement. It’s also one of the easiest Sonic games to find digitally. In fact, there are no less than three ways to play it on Nintendo Switch. A remastered version was released last year for modern platforms, adding a number of new features, including a few nods to the first sonic the hedgehog film. It’s worth noting that the game apparently suffered from some issues when it launched on Nintendo Switch, but it looks like these have been fixed through patches. You can check out our review of the PlayStation 4 version here.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

When Sonic debuted, Sega positioned its mascot as Mario’s ultimate rival. These days, Nintendo and Sega have buried the hatchet, and Sonic is a staple in Smash Bros. since 2008. Super Smash Bros Ultimate continues this proud tradition, and the game features plenty of Sonic-centric content. There are several Sonic-inspired scenes, a number of music tracks, and cameo appearances from characters like Tails and Knuckles. It might not technically be a Sonic game, but director Masahiro Sakurai and the game’s development team have stuffed it full of things for Hedgehog fans to love.

First released on the Sega CD in 1993, sonic cd used the upgraded hardware in several interesting ways. The game features a stunning soundtrack, stunning 2D visuals, and a time travel mechanic that gives it a distinctive hook. The game is also responsible for introducing two major Sonic characters: Amy Rose and Metal Sonic. The game was ported to Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011 by Christian Whitehead who would later develop Sonic Mania. This version includes a number of extras, including Tails as a playable character. The Xbox 360 version is available to download on all current Xbox platforms, but PlayStation and Nintendo fans will have to wait until later this year when sonic cd is included as part of Sonic Origins Collection.

The “Classic” Sonic Stages feature 2D gameplay with stunning modern graphics, while the “Modern” Sonic Stages offer some of the best 3D scenes the series has ever seen. Is Hello Neighbor 2 on Nintendo Switch?

Hello Neighbor 2 is ready to scare you this holiday season, but will you be able to play the popular game on the Nintendo Switch? Here’s what we know so far.

On December 6, we know that Hello Neighbor 2 will debut on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch was left out.

You can indeed play the first game on the Nintendo Switch, but the sequel is currently missing from tinyBuild’s release schedule for the console. Even the expansion of the original Hide ‘n Seek is on the hybrid platform.

However, there may still be hope. Currently, GameStop Canada has Hello Neighbor 2 listed as the Switch version on its website. You can even pre-order a copy of the standard or deluxe edition. Whether or not this is an error is unclear, but at the time of writing Hello Neighbor 2 is not officially slated for the handheld platform.

Keep in mind that the range of Hello Neighbor 2 is higher, so the Nintendo Switch may not be able to run it. There’s a wider neighborhood to explore when you meet the strange inhabitants of Raven Brooks. As a journalist, you will uncover sinister secrets and many puzzles to solve as you tour the city.

If you can play the game on another platform, you’ll be able to download a copy of Hello Neighbor 2 on December 6 (or December 1 if you have the deluxe edition). If you pre-order the game in the near future, you can access the beta now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

In the past, gamers have also had issues with their PS5 controllers not working properly due to Windows 11 not connecting to their device. Fixing the PS5 controller connectivity is similar to the PS4 and shares similar steps.

DS4 Windows itself also had its issues. Most of the time, all you have to do is update the app by downloading the latest version. In other cases, you need to check the status of the controller on Device Manager.

For Xbox controller owners, you might want to know what to do if your controller suddenly switches to player 2 on PC. Solutions involve running the troubleshooter and removing a specific driver.

You can finally change TV inputs with your Xbox controller – here’s how

Microsoft has rolled out a small but handy update for Xbox Series X and Series S that allows the controller to switch TV input to console.

If you’re watching TV on another HDMI input, while your console is downloading a game or update, you won’t need to grab another remote to get back to the console input.

This amazing Xbox Series S bundle saves you over £75

It’s the deal of a lifetime, offering the acclaimed Xbox Series S, another Xbox controller and the Razer Kishi for Android, all for under £300.

  • BT
  • Save €77.49
  • Now only £286.48

See the offer

Once enabled, all you have to do is press the Xbox button and your TV will automatically switch the HDMI inputs to your Xbox, and you can get back to your game. The feature has been in testing with Xbox Insiders since September and PS5 owners have been able to do this with their consoles for ages.

Announcing the feature on Twitter, Xbox Live chief Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb said: “Starting today, when you press the Xbox button on your controller once you can toggle the input to your Xbox. If you are on another TV input waiting for a download or update, you can press the Xbox button once to return to the Xbox input.

This is possible thanks to the HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) function of the consoles, which allows the Xbox Series X / S to send commands to the television.

A post on the Xbox support site explains that to enable the feature, you need to head to the TV and A/V power settings screen. Press the Xbox button to open the guide > go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Sleep & startup mode > TV and A/V power options.

Today’s rollout represents only half of the HDMI-CEC features Microsoft announced for Insiders last fall. As the tweet below shows, the Xbox team also plans to make the reverse possible with the ability to control Xbox menus and apps with your TV remote. This can make it easier to navigate apps like Netflix than with the controller, for example.

MLB The Show 22 on the Switch is a home run

The annual MLB baseball game The Show was released on April 5 on PlayStation, Xbox and for the first time on Nintendo Switch. Texas Rangers fans, rejoice!

When I saw the game was coming to the Nintendo Switch, I was so intrigued that I pre-ordered the game and started playing it when it went live last night. If you’re a Nolan Writin’ reader, Texas Rangers fan, and Switch owner, and you’re about to get the game, read my review of the game on the Switch edition before you buy it.

Texas Rangers: MLB The Show 2022 Review – Gameplay

When the game first loads on the Switch, it will ask you for an online username. Enter whatever username you want and practice using different settings that you can change during a scrum. Once you’ve figured out which settings you want to play with, you’re taken to the home screen.

The home screen is basically the same as the Xbox and PlayStation versions. You can choose any game mode, from Road To the Show to Diamond Dynasty. There were no cut modes from the Switch edition of the game.

What’s cool about this year’s game is also that if you’re playing another version of the game, you can upload your game data to the cloud and download it to your Switch to hit the road. The game makes it easy to configure how to send your save data to the cloud and how to upload it to the other console

MLB The Show 2022 review: Charts

The graphics are very good on the Nintendo Switch, depending on the model of Switch you have. If you have the second-gen Switch, the graphics are good. If you have the OLED switch, they look really amazing on this OLED screen.

There are, however, a few issues with the graphics that I should fix. Sometimes the “T” on the Rangers batting helmet turns into an “I”, which is really annoying. Another was that when I hit a home run with Willie Calhoun, on the replay, the ball didn’t start going towards the wall until Willie finished swinging the bat.

I’m sure this will all be fixed in an update very soon, usually San Diego studios are really good at getting game fixes to get the game to work the way it’s supposed to.

MLB The Show 2022 Review: Conclusion

MLB The Show 22 on Nintendo Switch is a home run in my opinion. It has all the game modes you would get on the PlayStation or Xbox version of the game. If you have the 2nd gen or the OLED model, go ahead and get the game.

If you have the first edition of Switch when it was released, don’t get the game because the system can’t handle all the graphics and gets very hot while playing. Other than that, enjoy MLB The Show 22 on any console you play on, Nolan Writin’ readers and Texas Rangers fans.

Fortnite server downtime for April 5

Epic Games has confirmed that they will be performing maintenance on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, PC, and Mobile platforms. The Fortnite server shutdown is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. BST on April 5, with no set time for the end. In the past, Epic Games has required several hours, but the support team has stopped sharing expected maintenance turnaround times during Chapter 3 Season 2.

To find out when Fortnite is back online, players should check the official social media platforms as they will have them listed. A message from Epic Games adds: “Get ready; the v20.10 update is scheduled for April 5th. Downtime will begin at 4:00 a.m. ET, with matchmaking turned off 30 minutes prior.

As stated above, matchmaking will begin to close at 8:30am BST, so players must complete all matches or challenges before this time. The Fortnite team didn’t share any big teasers for what’s to come after this downtime, but they did reveal why it’s happening. Fortnite servers are going offline to make way for the 20.10 game update, which will be available to download once everything is done.

New content is expected, but most details will be shared in upcoming patch notes. Epic Games has confirmed that Lantern Trials will be coming to the game soon, and that could be something we’ll learn more about following this week’s patch. These will include special unlockable challenges for in-game rewards, with Lantern Fest 2022 scheduled for the remainder of April 2022.

How to clear the cache on your Xbox One

Are you having issues with the performance of your Xbox One? You may need to clear your system cache. Here’s how.

An Xbox One made with Blender.

Xbox One Cache is there to speed up overall performance, allowing the device to regularly access the data it needs at a faster rate. However, this cache can sometimes become clogged, which affects performance.

You can clear the Xbox One system cache and sometimes this can help improve performance and load times.

How to Clear Xbox One System Cache

To clear the Xbox One system cache, you simply need to access both the front and the back of your console.

Before you start: Make sure your console is turned off. Now perform the following steps:

  • Unplug your Xbox One’s power cord.

The Xbox One power cord removed from the console.
  • Press and hold the Xbox power button three to four times.

A disconnected Xbox One about to press its power button.
  • Reconnect the power cord.

The Xbox One power cable reconnected to the console.
  • Turn on the Xbox after waiting a minute or two.

An Xbox One turned on.

Your Xbox One system cache should now be empty, which will hopefully improve your console’s system performance.

Clearing persistent data from your Xbox One

Xbox One consoles store persistent data, normally for DVDs and Blu-rays. The above method of clearing the storage cache does not delete this persistent data, so you have to do it in a different way with the console turned on and an Xbox controller connected and synced.

To clear persistent data, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings application.
  2. Click on Devices and connections in the side menu.
  3. Click on Blu-Ray.
  4. hurry A for Clear Persistent Storage.

The Clear Persistent Storage dialog box on the Xbox One interface.

Following these steps will clear your persistent data, which will hopefully improve your console’s performance.

Soft Factory Reset Your Xbox One

If all else fails, you can choose the semi-nuclear option, which is to perform a soft reset on your Xbox One that will delete everything other than your games and apps.

Before performing this soft reset, you must upload one of your videos or screenshots to another location, such as an Xbox One external hard drive. If your console is connected to the internet, your game files will be in the cloud to be downloaded again after the reset is done.

To perform a soft factory reset:

  1. Open the Settings application.
  2. To select System then Console Information.
  3. Click on Reset Console.
  4. To select Reset and keep my games and apps. You can reset completely if you wish, but we don’t recommend it.
  5. Once your Xbox One has reset, log back into your account.

The Reset Console dialog box on Xbox One.

Following this reset, the performance of your Xbox One should improve.

Improve performance by clearing your Xbox One cache

Having performance issues on your Xbox One can be very frustrating. Fortunately, there are ways to improve performance on your own, such as clearing the Xbox One cache.

Hopefully these actions have improved your console’s performance somewhat, and if you notice your Xbox One getting slow in the future, follow these steps again.

Physical copies of ‘GTA V’ for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S will be released in April

Boxed copies of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA V will be released one month after the digital versions.

Updated versions of GTA V Originally slated for release in November 2021 but were delayed, eventually releasing last month. However, the upgrade is currently only available digitally, with boxed copies hitting shelves on April 12 (via VGC).

Pre-orders are available now and will cost £24.99 from in-game or £34.99 direct from Rockstar.

However, these prices are significantly higher than those offered for digital copies. On the PlayStation store, GTA V for PS5 costs £8.75, and the Xbox Series X version | S costs £17.49 until June 14.

Players who are only interested in the online component of GTA V, which is also a standalone title, can download it for £8.99 on Xbox Series X|S. However, those with a PS5 and PlayStation Plus subscription can pick it up for free over the next three months.

Late last month, Rockstar Games announced the launch of a paid subscription service for GTA online called GTA+. The service offers players a monthly bonus of GTA$500,000 in in-game cash and “the ability to claim properties in and around Los Santos that unlock gameplay updates you may have missed, special vehicle upgrades, members-only discounts, GTA$ and RP bonuses, and more every month.

However, the community seems divided on the new service. Some Twitter users claim that Rockstar is mining everything it can from the game by charging players for funds and items that can be easily acquired through the game.

Furthermore, the producer of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe said the title is a good fit for the Nintendo Switch due to its portability and ease of multiplayer. This comes five years after the game launched.

Controversial Xbox 360 exclusive free for a limited time

A controversial Xbox 360 game is free for a limited time for anyone on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X, no Xbox Live Gold required. During Xbox 360, Xbox created and published great games. In fact, the Xbox 360 era is perhaps the best Xbox era to date, and that’s represented by the fact that the Xbox 360 is Xbox’s best-selling console, and by a substantial margin . It’s possible Xbox Series X will usurp that title, but right now it’s too early to make any definitive claims one way or another. However, everything Xbox did in those days didn’t work. For example, while in the days of the Xbox 360 he was creating armament of warhe also released games like too human, a game with not only a mediocre but controversial reputation. As you can probably guess, this is the free game in question.

It is unclear why the game is free as it is not one of the Games With Gold free games for April. It’s also not known how long it’s been available for free, but at the time of writing this, it’s 100% free to download, with no strings attached.

Developed by the now-defunct Silicon Knights and published by Xbox, the action-RPG was released in 2008 as an Xbox 360 exclusive, a platform to which it is still exclusive. Upon release, the game earned a 65 on Metacritic. With this type of score, it should have been quickly forgotten, but a controversy ensured its legacy.

Between 2007 and 2012, the game was at the center of a lawsuit between Epic Games and Silicon Knights. The lawsuit involved the latter using the former’s engine, Unreal Engine 3, and resulted in the former’s victory. For losing, Silicon Knights had to pay Epic Games $4.5 million and destroy the code for every game created with the engine, including too human, which was to be a trilogy. This ultimately led to the studio’s bankruptcy in 2014, 22 years after its inception. Now, in what would have been the studio’s 30th anniversary, the game that was more or less responsible for its death, is free for all Xbox users, at least in the US.

Xbox Game Pass is getting a new pricing plan, rumored

As it stands, Xbox’s subscription service – which has over 100 games ready to download, stream and play – comes in two price tiers. For ₤7.99 per month, customers can choose to play Xbox Library on console or PC, with the PC version including access to EA Play. The most expensive version is called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and allows players to use both console and PC services as well as mobile, and includes access to online services through Xbox Gold. Ultimate costs a bit more, priced at ₤10.99 per month.

If you’re an Xbox gamer, check out our interview on what the company had planned after the release of Series X/S.

As reported by Windows Central, Xbox is rumored to be adding a new plan to the service. Xbox is said to be unveiling a new family plan for Xbox Game Pass before the end of the year. This will be the equivalent of family plans offered by other subscription services such as Netflix and Nintendo Switch Online.

The new plan will allow up to five people in one household to access the same subscription package. Currently, each family member wishing to use the service on their individual profile would have to purchase subscriptions separately. The benefits of the new plan would allow each member to track their own games and earn individual achievements. Those with multiple consoles can still use the subscription linked to their current account, on any number of consoles.

The website did not specify if the plan would have separate pricing for console or PC users, or if there would be a separate service for regular and end users. Either way, we’ll probably know more about the proposed family plan soon.

Exclusive to the Xbox console, no one saves the world could jump to PlayStation

In January, DrinkBox Studios released a dungeon-crawling action-RPG nobody saves the world to mostly positive reviews, with many reviewers praising its unique shape-shifting gameplay mechanics and witty writing. nobody saves the world launched as an Xbox console-exclusive game and as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title, which definitely limited its potential audience. Luckily for PlayStation gamers, they may soon have the chance to experience the game for themselves.

An official announcement about a potential nobody saves the world The PlayStation port was not made, but the game was found on the PlayStation Store database. According to the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account, the PS5 version of nobody saves the world was discovered and comes in at 812 MB. A potential PS4 version of the game has not been mentioned, but since nobody saves the world has a native Xbox One release, you’d think it would come to both PS4 and PS5 if it did indeed jump to PlayStation.

RELATED: Nobody Saves the World Review

Since nobody saves the world was self-published by DrinkBox Studios and is not a first-party Xbox game, no one really expected it to remain exclusive to Xbox consoles forever. But if the game is coming to PlayStation relatively soon, as it seems to suggest, some might be surprised to see it lose its Xbox console-exclusive status so soon.

However, this wouldn’t be the first time that a third-party Xbox console-exclusive game had come to PlayStation in the same year. As some remember, The way launched in 2021 as an Xbox console-exclusive game, but it eventually made its way to PlayStation 5.

There were also times when the roles were reversed. In the future, games exclusive to the PlayStation console Death Loop and Ghostwire: Tokyo will almost certainly be coming to Xbox as day one Xbox Game Pass games. While they were launched exclusively on the PS5 console, Microsoft owns Death Loop and Ghostwire: Tokyo publisher Bethesda, so the titles will likely come to Xbox once their PlayStation exclusivity windows end.

As it concerns nobody saves the world go, this is definitely something worth checking out. Although it is known to suffer from a few unfortunate technical issues, nobody saves the world offers fun online co-op, an entertaining story, and plenty of challenging dungeons to conquer. It might not quite live up to the lofty expectations set by some of DrinkBox Studios’ previous games, but it would still be a solid addition to the PlayStation lineup if it does make its way to Sony’s consoles. .

nobody saves the world is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with PlayStation versions reportedly in development.

Microsoft wants to release cloud-native games for Xbox

Microsoft begins to focus on cloud gaming: Kim Swift, developer of Portal and Left 4 Dead, joins the Xbox cloud gaming platform team as senior director and builds a team focused on new cloud experiences. Microsoft Cloud Gaming Director Kim Swift announced during a presentation at the Game Developers Conference (courtesy of VGC) that the new cloud gaming organization aims to “cooperate with world-class game development teams to develop cloud gaming for an unparalleled experience”. In a video posted to YouTube last week, Microsoft outlined plans to collaborate with external studios to develop cloud games.

Credit @ Xbox

Swift will lead Xbox innovation in cloud gaming development, which will be another push into the cloud computing market for Microsoft. In the video, Kim Swift explained that the goal is to partner with development studios to develop cloud games for the Xbox ecosystem; games that can bring experiences that were previously not possible without the use of the cloud. Kim Swift noted that the advantages of creating cloud games are the ability to create a game once and not to create multiple versions for different platforms, reduce the need for downloads, implement cloud AI (something similar to what Xbox is actively experimenting with in the area of quality control, toxicity filters, procedural gameplay, etc.) and much more.

In an introductory video for Microsoft game developers posted on YouTube, Swift explained that the division’s mandate is to provide players with an unparalleled experience only available through the cloud. In the video presentation, Kim Swift noted that the goal of Xbox Game Studios Publishing’s cloud publishing division is to find and help develop games with high engagement, widespread appeal and impact, as well as potential for community development and support.

Microsoft’s cloud gaming division will be managed by Kim Swift, who previously worked as a designer and artist at Valve and was director of game design at Stadia before Google stopped developing first-party games. Last week, Microsoft launched two new initiatives aimed at giving more developers access to cloud-based features when building games. In addition to the launch of Asobo Studios Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft is rolling out a number of new APIs for game developers working on games that use cloud computing to offload storage and processing to external servers. Microsoft said Microsoft would also license the use of original Xbox One consoles, allowing them to play games like Flight Simulator that previously wouldn’t have been available without cloud streaming.

Microsoft cloud gaming

Credit @ Xbox

Microsoft has now found a way to make Xbox cloud gaming available to iPhone and iPad users through a web browser, and it says it remains committed to bringing certain games like Minecraft to iOS. Its Xbox cloud gaming service allows gamers to stream Xbox games directly to their smartphones, although there are currently no games designed specifically for cloud gaming. Games on Xbox Cloud Gaming are typically implemented through a process called “boost and transfer”, in which cloud gaming teams release development games to a network of Microsoft Azure servers and verify compatibility with application games. of cloud gaming.

As for what the cloud actually means, reports indicate that players will be able to access the unannounced title through any device – let’s assume that means xCloud-enabled devices (mobile phones, PCs, Xbox consoles, and TVs). So the “new cloud experiences” that Swift has been tasked with creating for Microsoft could refer to games that take advantage of the platforms’ multi-server capabilities, which potentially means faster load times and better performance. graphics. As IGN points out, this description definitely sounds like a new initiative to develop games that can only be run using the cloud, rather than improving games that run on the cloud system and other platforms. forms. In early 2021, Video Games Chronicle reported that Xbox was partnering with Sony in a joint cloud initiative, possibly using its Azure platform. The cloud has long been the backbone of Xbox’s business through its Azure platform, and in early 2021 Xbox moved its xCloud gaming project from technical beta to public use for gamers. How to Play Xbox Game Pass Cloud Games on Steam Deck

Dan Ackerman/CNET

the steam bridge is a new portable gaming PC designed for downloading and playing games from the online Steam game store. Even with nearly 1,000 Steam games verified for the Steam Deck, one of the first questions players asked was: How can I get non-Steam games there?

The Steam Deck was built by Steam’s parent company, Valve, and its SteamOS operating system lets you buy and play games from the extensive Steam library. But because it’s a PC at heart (even if it doesn’t run Windows), PC gamers expect and insist on access to games from many sources.

Look at this:

Steam Deck Mostly Nails Laptop Games

It’s possible to play at least some of the games you’ve purchased from the Epic Game Store, GOG, and other sources, as well as some cloud-based streaming games. Cloud gaming services deliver content to you in real time from remote servers. This means you don’t need any particularly powerful hardware, just a strong internet connection, to play.

Read more: Steam Deck surprised me, for good and for bad

We previously described how to get Epic Game Store games are working on the Steam Deck (although it’s still not Epic’s biggest game, Fortnite), and cloud services like Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia have been shown to work in limited cases, usually depending on controller limitations.

Forza 5, via Xbox Cloud Gaming, on the Steam Deck.

Dan Ackerman/CNET

Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass is one of the services gamers most want to see on the Steam Deck, as it provides a huge library of games under one subscription. The standard Game Pass app doesn’t work (yet), as it’s completely integrated into the Windows operating system. But the cloud streaming version of Game Pass, called Xbox Cloud Gamingworks now, thanks to a backend work from Microsoft.

The cloud version of Game Pass works through a web browser and requires switching to the Steam Deck desktop view to install. Like almost everything about the Steam Deck, some level of tinkering is required. That’s part of why the system appeals to PC gamers, who often find troubleshooting and optimizing PC games part of the platform’s appeal.

Microsoft posted its initial instructions on Reddit, and by following them, I was able to play a wide variety of Game Pass games, including recent games like Forza 5, Tunic, and Shredders (a new snowboarding game). Cloud gaming is very network dependent, but I had a mostly lag-free experience.

Microsoft Edge on Steam Deck

You will need to install Microsoft Edge browser from Linux desktop mode.

Dan Ackerman/CNET

Why would you run a cloud-based game on a device like the Steam Deck with powerful PC graphics capabilities? Saving internal storage space is the most obvious reason, along with the ability to play the same game on multiple platforms, such as Xbox, PC, or iPhone and iPad using Game Pass cloud gaming . Here are the basic steps, and more detailed instructions are here on Reddit.

1. Access the desktop mode of the Steam Deck.

2. Use the built-in Discover app to find and install Microsoft Edge beta.

3. Add the Edge browser to Steam by right-clicking its launch icon and selecting Add to steam.

Then it gets a bit complex.

4. Launch the Konsole app in SteamOS (Apps > System > Console) and add this command: flatpak –user override –filesystem=/run/udev:ro com.microsoft.Edge

5. Open Steam (still in desktop mode), find Microsoft Edge beta in your Steam games list.

6. Right click on it and select: Properties > Launch Options. In this launch options field, add this text to the end of the string already there: –window-size=1024,640 –force-device-scale-factor=1.25 –device-scale-factor=1.25 –kiosk “https://www.xbox.com/play”

This takes you to the Game Pass cloud gaming page and forces the browser into fullscreen mode when you launch it through Steam.

After that, exit desktop mode and reboot into the SteamOS interface. In your library, under Non-Steam apps, you’ll see the Microsoft Edge beta. Launch it and you are in the Game Pass cloud gaming menu and can directly access the games.

There are other tweaks you can make for a cleaner experience, like renaming the shortcut (“Game Pass” vs. Microsoft Edge, for example), or adding a custom thumbnail. The Reddit post was enough to get me started, but Microsoft has more detailed instructions here.

It takes a bit of time to set up, but having access to a large library of streaming games is worth it. Playing games natively installed on the Steam Deck will still provide the best overall experience, but looping in games from Epic, GOG, Game Pass, and other platforms reinforces the idea that the Steam Deck is more of a PC than a standalone gaming gadget like the Nintendo. Change.

How to get PS5 or Xbox screenshots on your phone

Everyone who loves video games wanted to share a cool moment or a hilarious glitch they saw with their friends. With both PlayStation 5 and Xbox series consoles, it’s never been easier.

Much like the PS4 and Xbox One, both consoles come with buttons on their respective controllers dedicated entirely to capturing screenshots and clips. However, you had to upload those screenshots to Twitter, OneDrive, or a USB device in order to get them off the consoles and onto your phone, where it’s easier to share them. By the grace of the universe, that is no longer the case.

here’s how automatically beam captures from any of these game consoles to your mobile device.

How to send PS5 captures to your phone

This is where the live captures on the PlayStation app.
Credit: Screenshot: PlayStation / Alex Perry

The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are able to connect to special mobile apps that you can find on your device’s app store, which is key to making all that capture magic happen. To get screenshots of your PS5 on your phone without posting them on Twitter first, download the PlayStation app on iOS or Android. You’ll also want to make sure your PS5’s system software is up to date.

Once you’re signed in to your PlayStation Network account on the PS5 and in the mobile app, open it up and click on the tab along the bottom row that shows six squares placed behind a silhouette of the PlayStation controller to access to your game library. Then, at the top of the screen, switch from “Games” to “Captures”. You should get a prompt to allow automatic capture uploads from the console to the app. Say yes, otherwise you will just be wasting a lot of time reading this article.

And that’s all! Going forward, any screenshot or clip (less than three minutes long) that you capture using the DualSense’s dedicated share button (located to the left of the touchpad) will automatically appear in this section of the mobile app, where it will stay for 14 days. You can save and share them from the application as you see fit.

Nothing easier.

Captures galore.

For Xbox users, the process of getting clips from your console to your phone is pretty much exactly the same as on PS5. The only difference is that you actually have to do a little less work. We love to hear it.

Download the Xbox app and sign in to your Xbox account. Obviously, make sure you’re signed in to the Xbox as well. By default, all captures taken with the share button (located to the left of the Xbox controller’s home button) are uploaded to the “Xbox Network”, a fancy name for a cloud server accessible from the Xbox app. To do this, open the app and navigate to the bottom row tab marked with three vertical lines (with the rightmost line pressed against the other two).

Your captures live here. To test it, take an in-game screenshot, wait about 30 seconds, then open the app to see if it’s there. If that doesn’t work, you may need to enable automatic downloads. It should be enabled by default, but hey, weird things happen sometimes. To do this, follow these simple steps:

  1. Press the Xbox home button on the controller

  2. Go to “Profile and system”

  3. Go to settings”

  4. Go to “Preferences”

  5. Go to “Capture and Share”

  6. Enable “Download automatically”

If this always isn’t working for some reason, you can manually upload any screenshot to the Xbox network by pressing the button to the left of the home button, selecting the individual screenshot or video you want, then by selecting “Download”. Give it some time and it should appear in the Xbox app.

If you love sharing your gaming moments with your friends, using auto capture uploads on either console will make your life easier.

kill the arrow has been hailed as one of the best roguelike deck-building games since its release, and for good reason, as the game is garnering both fan adoration and critical acclaim, with an “overwhelmingly positive” review rating. ” on Steam. So it’s not particularly strange that there is also a budding modding community.

While kill the arrow There’s no shortage of fun and inventive mods that revamp the whole game from the ground up, one mod seems to have had a lot more success than most. RELATED: Skyrim Mod Adds a Burger Joint to the Game

Having made its way onto many lists of the best mods for kill the arrow, Fall is now also available as a standalone free download on Steam for all owners of kill the arrow. Described as a “full expansion” for the game, Fall adds a wide variety of awesome features, including an alternate campaign mode complete with seven all-new characters with their own maps, potions, relic items, and more. These characters are actually the enemy bosses from the base game, who now have to fight their way through the spire to defend it against the heroes.

Fall also introduces a new hero character into the mix: the Hermit. The introduction of the Hermit also means that players will have to find new strategies to defeat the Corrupted Heart in kill the arrowgiving even the classic campaign mode a fresh coat of paint.

While many other contemporary mod releases stick out like sore thumbs, like the recent Extreme Violence Mod for The Sims 4, Fall looks like a legit expansion pack produced by the game’s original developers. Players worried about standout features or content will be pleased with what’s on offer here, as the experience seamlessly integrates with the core content, and there don’t seem to be any major bugs to worry about.

While there are other games kill the arrow fans should give it a try, they now also have a major new excuse to come back to it. Fall is available for free download on Steam, and it’s almost twice the size of the base game.
