Battlefield 5 and more games are free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this weekend

Xbox is announcing its next bundle of free games, including Battlefield 5, which will be available to Xbox Live Gold members during the company’s Free Play Days.

Battlefield 5 and more games are free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers this weekend

Xbox has added a number of titles to its game library over the past few months. Beyond the growing list of games included with Xbox Game Pass, the company also offers free play days that allow players with an Xbox Live Gold membership to try certain games for free for a limited time. Recently, Xbox announced their next batch of free limited-time games. Among the titles included is that of EA Battlefield 5.

The full list of titles that make up Xbox Free Play Days includes Battlefield 5, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and The Elder Scrolls Online: Unlimited Tamriel. Battlefield 5 and Assetto Corsa Competizione are playable for free from Thursday, August 26 at 12:01 a.m. PDT through Sunday, August 29 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. However, The Elder Scrolls Online lasts a few extra hours until Monday, August 30 at 7:00 a.m. PDT. Over the weekend, all three of these games are also available for purchase from the Xbox Store at a significant discount.

Each of these games offers something different for players to try out. Battlefield 5 immerses players in immersive 64-player battles while providing a single-player story mode. The inclusion of Battlefield 5 as part of Xbox’s free games seems like a logical move given that the company has proposed Battlefield 4 as part of the Free Play Days just a few weeks ago. As the exit from Battlefield 2042 approximate, Battlefield 5 is an option for fans looking to return to the series while waiting for the next installment in the franchise.

The other two games offer alternatives for those who prefer to play something other than an FPS. Assetto Corsa Competizione allows players to get behind the wheel of some of the fastest cars in the world in the Official GT World Challenge game. For gamers looking for an MMO style experience, The Elder Scrolls Online: Unlimited Tamriel allows players to dive into a vast world of RPGs and even play the prologue quest Gates of Oblivion.

In addition to this ongoing offer for Xbox Live Gold members, gamers can also redeem Battlefield 5 on Amazon Prime. As part of Amazon Prime Gaming, Amazon Prime subscribers can get Battlefield 5 for free on Origin. The game is also included with Xbox Game Pass.

It’s exciting to see new games such as Battlefield 5 added to Xbox Free Play Days because it gives gamers the option to verify a title before purchasing it. It will be interesting to see what other Xbox games make free for a limited time in the future.

No “Xbox App” for Nintendo Switch, says Phil Spencer

Xbox boss Phil Spencer wants to bring Xbox Game Pass and the entire Xbox ecosystem to more people than ever before, but the release of an “Xbox app” on a rival console won’t happen, at least. not yet. Asked directly by GamesRadar if there would be an “Xbox app” for Nintendo Switch, as people have theorized, Spencer said Microsoft is focusing more on the growth of Xbox on the web, PC and mobile for meet its ambitions of scale rather than putting the Xbox on Nintendo Switch or some other “closed” platform. In fact, Spencer pointed out that “these closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass” anyway.

“You know, that’s the right question because people usually ask me to release an individual game or another. And what I’m saying is I want the full Xbox experience to be something that we offer. “, did he declare. “We don’t plan on bringing it to other types of closed platforms right now, mainly because those closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass. There are a ton of platforms out there. -Open forms for us to grow: the web, PC, and mobile. So all of our focus, frankly, is on those platforms. “

Now playing: 5 things to know about the Halo Infinite multiplayer preview

While there might not be an Xbox app for Switch or PlayStation anytime soon, Spencer said he hopes to see even more connectivity between rival platforms through cross play.

“In order for us to be successful, I don’t think another company has to get smaller. I want the industry to continue to grow and accelerate its growth, and if you buy a Switch and want to play Minecraft, it just happens. find that I buy my kids a PlayStation… if they can’t play together it doesn’t help the game grow, in my mind, ”he said.“ This war can help a device win on another, but that doesn’t help the industry. I think focusing on the joy of the players, ease of play and accessibility, in the long run, is the right strategy. And I think the industry will go in that direction, because that’s what the players will be asking for. “

Another way Spencer hopes to see the game in general develop in the future is to break down traditional barriers that make it difficult to get started. Other entertainment media like movies, television, and books are generally easier and cheaper to use than games, observed Spencer. With some games, on the other hand, it’s usually difficult and expensive for newcomers to get started – and Spencer hopes to change that.

“We should all recognize that not everyone grew up with a controller in their hand,” he said. “I don’t envy movies, TV, or books, but I think that media has accessibility. It’s something we should think about as an industry. Let’s say I want to go play the next big game. on console So I have to go buy this console, I have to go plug it in, I don’t know how to use a controller – because I’ve never done this before – so I’m going to have to practice and learn.

“We think a lot about that accessibility point, and – not to bring it back to Game Pass – but part of it is financial, you know. These games cost $ 70. That’s a lot of money compared to these other forms of play. ‘art that we talk about. “

In an effort to make the Xbox more accessible to a wider audience – Microsoft is targeting billions of people, after all – Xbox has announced that it has partnered with TV makers to bring Xbox gaming options right into the games. televisions. Microsoft also recently announced that it will create Xbox-branded streaming sticks that people can plug into a TV to play the latest games. In another effort to expand Xbox, Microsoft is working with telecom providers on “new buying models” like Xbox All Access that allow users to get a console (with Game Pass) for a monthly price instead of paying. more expensive in advance. This is the model which has been popular and widespread for smartphones for many years.

To make all of this interesting and valuable from a content perspective, Microsoft also recently announced that it plans to release at least one new proprietary game every three months, not to mention the extensive third-party support on Xbox.

Xbox Everywhere: Phil Spencer wants an Xbox app on as many devices as possible

Something strange has happened to video game consoles over the past three years. The concepts of cloud streaming and cross-platform gaming dissolved the whole idea of the standalone machine with a disc player, its own online service, and exclusive titles. And while Sony has been a bit slow to embrace the upcoming concept of the video game metaverse, Microsoft has embraced it. At E3 2021, the focus was on Game Pass and the cross-platform possibilities of the Xbox app. Xbox is no longer a console, it’s a platform.

Phil Spencer, Director of Xbox, is keenly aware of the changes taking place in the industry, both in terms of technology and culture. Games aren’t what they used to be – and in some ways, this has been sped up by COVID-19. “One of the things I looked at at the start of the pandemic was the number of new friend connections made on Xbox Live,” he says. “It was literally tens of millions in the first month, and it just kept growing.”

“Part of that was just the increase in network activity as people played more games. But as an industry, we’ve also seen things like Among Us, which had been out for a few years. , gaining a lot of popularity. I think it was a reflection of the social capacity of the game. This is partly a generational shift, but also, I think, through the pandemic – games become a place of public dialogue, community and discussion. It increases the accountability for us as an industry for what we should stand for. “

Break down barriers

One of the key announcements in the Xbox E3 2021 showcase was the expansion of the Xbox app to new platforms, including set-top boxes and smart TVs. For Spencer, it’s about how games are accepted as mainstream digital entertainment, alongside social media and streaming services like Netflix. The old barriers to entry are falling.

“I don’t mean this in a negative way,” he says, “but video games started out as a passionate, almost amateur-driven industry, and“ gamer ”was a label we wore. Now we have more. of three billion people who play video games, and when almost half the world is doing something, I don’t know how you distinguish between a gamer and a non-gamer. ” Spencer’s ambition is to make Xbox games accessible to everyone on the planet, no matter what technology they have – and that’s going to require rethinking what games and game consoles are.

“We should all recognize that not everyone grew up with a controller in their hand,” he says. We think a lot at that point of accessibility, and – not to bring it back to Game Pass – but part of it is financial, you know. These games cost $ 70. That’s a lot of money compared to these other art forms that tell us about. “

“Now we have over three billion people playing video games, and when almost half the world is doing something, I don’t know what you call a gamer or a non-gamer.”

Phil Spencer, Xbox Manager

So does that mean we’re going to see a switch to a mostly free model, as popularized by Battle Royale? “I think the diversity of business models in the gaming industry is a strength – and a creative force, not just a business force. If you have a good game, let it be a single player game with a start, middle and an ending; a game that has downloadable content to expand the chapters; a free game, an advertising driven game, I want all of these to be successful. As an industry, we have to embrace this diversity. We have to make sure we don’t fall for the thought, okay everything has to be a free battle royale game now. A creator has to use the business model that allows them to deliver the right experience for them. And as gamers, we need to be open to the fact that creative teams need to see the financial benefit of what they create, and that there isn’t one business model to rule them all. “

Spencer also seems genuinely interested in the idea of user-generated content, with players contributing to the games they enjoy. Creative options in Minecraft and Fortnite are obvious examples of this, but the challenge / extended circuit design mode promised in Forza Horizon 5 hints at a future where the ability to modify a gaming experience and then upload the new version to the cloud, will become commonplace. This is, after all, something the younger generation of gamers have learned to expect through the way they use social media.

“TikTok is about finding what someone else has done, whether it’s a piece of music they use or some kind of funny meme, and then people remix that with their own content. on top of it, and it becomes this almost self-sustaining thing. I think we should see that in video games. I think we should try to open up these tools, and also keep value for everyone in there. chain. We want creators to be able to monetize what they’re building and see the value of that. And I don’t think there should be a genre that it’s tied to. ”

Xbox wants to end the console war

Xbox cloud games

Interestingly, throughout our conversation, Spencer doesn’t talk about competing with other consoles. Although he got a sneakily digging into Sony’s PlayStation strategy during E3, its goal is clearly to convert non-gamers into gamers rather than shifting the current user base from one machine to another. When I ask questions, for example, about the lack of epic, standalone single-player games on Xbox, he knows right away what I’m referring to: Sony’s recent success with titles like Spider-Man and The Last of Us 2. , and it doesn’t.

“Our strategy is not to do like someone else,” he says. “I sometimes get a push of” where is your version of this or that [game]? ‘. I’ve been in this industry for a long time, I have a lot of respect for creators on all platforms, and I know a lot, a lot. But it’s good if we do something different from what other platforms do. We’re not just looking to create a green version of someone else’s blue or red platform. This is not the example of creativity that I want to see in the gaming industry. “

But what about those rumors that one of the platforms Microsoft wants to put their Xbox app on is the Nintendo Switch. “You know, evolution always takes time,” he says. “There are different strengths that different companies have built through hard work, and some of these changes can be seen as disruptive. And they will have their own pace and pace of activity to which they wish to make these changes. “

Minecraft Download

“We’re not just looking to create a green version of someone else’s blue or red platform.”

Phil Spencer, Xbox Manager

“In order for us to be successful, I don’t think another company has to get smaller. I want the industry to continue to grow and accelerate its growth, and if you buy a Switch and want to play Minecraft, it just happens. find that I buy my kids a PlayStation… if they can’t play together it doesn’t help the game grow, in my mind. This war might help one device win over another device, but it doesn’t not helping the industry. I think focusing on the player the joy, ease of play and accessibility, in the long run, is the right strategy. And I think the industry will go in that direction, because it is what players will ask. “

So the Xbox app on Switch then, I ask for more. “You know, that’s the right question because people usually ask me to release an individual game or another. And what I’m saying is I want the full Xbox experience to be something that we deliver. . We have no plans to bring it to any other kind of closed platforms right now, mainly because those closed platforms don’t want something like Game Pass. There are a ton of platforms. -open forms to develop ourselves: the web, the PC and the mobile. So all of our focus, frankly, is on those platforms. “

He later says he fully understands why this is the case (“It’s not a blow to anyone who has a system that works for them. I can see why the Game Pass disruption isn’t not something they want right now. “) But the Xbox concept existing on other consoles isn’t a complete dead end, at least not in Spencer’s vision. “At the end of the day,” he says with a smile, “when we say we want everyone to be able to play on Xbox, we really mean that if we can bring that full experience to a device that gamers want, we are totally open to these discussions. “

Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 are slated to launch on Xbox Series X, PC, and Game Pass later this year. In the meantime, why not consult the best Xbox Series X games to keep you busy.

If you want to join the Xbox Insider program on your PC, you will need to install the Xbox Insider Hub. This allows you to sign up for the program, as well as any other Xbox-related Insider tests. Once you’ve signed up, you may need to check for updates in the Microsoft Store to make sure you have the latest version of the Xbox app. If everything is in order, you will see a Cloud Gaming tab on the Xbox app home screen.

The cloud gaming experience on the Xbox app for Windows will not offer any significant major difference compared to the web version. However, it is quickly accessible and the interface can be smoother. However, if you prefer not to join the Insider program, you can go here to play these games on your browser. And if you haven’t already, you can purchase an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership using the link below. A three-month subscription is currently $5 on Amazon if you want to save a little extra cash.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Coming to Insiders on Windows 10 PC Xbox App

Source: Daniel Rubino | Windows Central

Microsoft announced via Xbox Wire on Monday that gamers enrolled in the Xbox Insider program can now access Xbox Cloud Gaming through the Xbox app on Windows 10 PC. Xbox Cloud Gaming was rolled out to Windows 10 and iOS users earlier this year through a browser-based option.

If you’re in the Xbox Insider program, all you need to do is make sure the app is updated, then connect an Xbox controller via USB or Bluetooth. From there, you’ll find an option in the app that lets you choose a cloud game and start playing.

Xbox Cloud Gaming, formerly known as Project xCloud, also recently received an upgrade to enable 1080p 60 FPS streaming, with Xbox Series X server blades helping to power the service. Xbox Series X enhanced versions of some games are available for streaming, which means that when paired with the best phones or tablets for the service, gamers can have a high-quality gaming experience on the go.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently available to anyone who has subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which also includes Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Live Gold.

Microsoft brings xCloud to Windows PCs with the Xbox app

Microsoft is now bringing xCloud to Windows PCs through its Xbox app. Xbox Insiders will be able to access a new, updated Xbox app with built-in Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud). Much like the way xCloud works on the web, you’ll just need a compatible controller connected via Bluetooth or USB to access Xbox games from a Windows 10 PC.

The updated Xbox app will include a new ‘cloud games’ section, with access to all of the same games available on xCloud on the web. “We’ve also added new features to get you started, including easy-to-access controller and network status information, social features to keep in touch with your friends, and the ability to invite people. , even those who are also playing in the cloud without the game installed – to join you in a game, ”says Jason Beaumont, partner director of Xbox experiences.

xCloud in the new Xbox app on Windows 10.

Xbox Insider testers will be able to access the new Xbox app in 22 different countries by signing up for the “Windows Gaming” preview in the Xbox Insider Hub app. Cloud games will then be available in the Game Pass section of the app, allowing you to pick up Xbox games that have been launched on a console or in the cloud.

This new Xbox app also includes the ability to stream games from a local Xbox, allowing you to turn a console on and off and stream your games from your own Xbox.

If you’re not an Xbox tester, you can still access xCloud at http://xbox.com/play, and Microsoft will likely bring that full experience to the Xbox app on Windows in the coming months.

Do you need Xbox Live to play Splitgate?

Do gamers need to purchase an Xbox Live membership to access a free game like Splitgate? / 1047 games

Do gamers need to purchase an Xbox Live membership to access a free game like Splitgate?

Splitgate is the latest star in the sci-fi competitive multiplayer online shooter genre. Players must take advantage of unique circumstances on the map, such as portals, to perform complex yet exciting killing maneuvers against their opponents. It has recently exploded in popularity, with players flocking in droves thanks to its combination of fun and challenging aspects of the game. Better yet: developer 1047 Games has decreed that the game will be free on all platforms for which it can be purchased.

So what does this mean for consoles with live services like Microsoft’s Xbox?

Typically no. Gamers shouldn’t need an Xbox Live subscription to play Splitgate. As the game is designed entirely to be free (F2P), Microsoft has made it and similar titles available on their platform without having to pay for it. After all, is a game really free if its platform charges a fee just to access it?

However, some gamers still report that they were asked to purchase the subscription when starting the game. There are conflicting reports as to whether this pop-up can be canceled or ignored without a problem. Some say they just ignore it or press “B” to avoid it and can get in without a problem while others report that the platform starts them instead.

Still, most argue that gaming should be accessible without having to spend money on an Xbox Live subscription.

Xbox app search bar results rarely show the right results

The Xbox app is available on a wide range of devices such as Windows, Android, and iOS.

It has many great features, such as the ability to use it as a remote control, second screen functionality, and several community features.

If your device is powered by Windows 10, the app also serves as a game launcher for titles you’ve purchased from Steam or the Microsoft Store while allowing users to record their in-game footage.

The Xbox app also has a search bar like all other Windows apps that helps gamers find their favorite titles and friends.

But some recent user reports suggest that the Xbox app’s search bar is showing random results instead of the search term.

In case you’re wondering if search bar results are platform-limited, we hate to tell you, they aren’t. It looks like Xbox search bar algorithm is bad on all platforms, and it rarely shows expected results.

Sometimes the search bar results are really frustrating if you try to connect with someone on the Xbox app.

Some users also say that it is difficult to find purchased games and therefore cannot search for the additional content for that title.

Microsoft has yet to recognize the problem, let alone work on a fix. But we expect the tech giant to make a few changes to the Xbox app’s search bar so that it can actually deliver useful results.

To be fair, the Xbox search bar results are worse than you would expect on Bing. Nonetheless, we expect it to improve over time.

Insignia, the Xbox Live OG replacement, continues to progress slowly

If you were a member of the Pure Xbox community in May of last year, you might remember a story about a project called “Badge‘. Still in private development from 2021, the goal of this project is to allow original Xbox owners to play games online without any modifications or software fixes.

We haven’t heard much about Insignia publicly over the past 12 months, but development has continued on the project, with a whole range of videos uploaded to YouTube featuring everything from multiplayer sessions such as Unreal championship and The madness of the city center, online placement tests.

Obviously, this free service will not be officially supported by Microsoft and is a fan-led project to allow gamers to once again enjoy their favorite original Xbox titles online. There is no ETA on a release date at the moment (but the team “hopefully” wants to launch in 2021), and the idea is to focus on supporting games ” everyone wants to play ”at launch.

“This service will not require any modifications or software fixes and will work with both original and modified consoles as long as you have a way to clear the keys (a one-time game exploit could be used for this).

The implementation is completely clean room … “

Here are some sample videos showing Insignia in action from last year:

Badge interests you? Will you try it when it comes out? Let us know in the comments below.

Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers fix

to hit continues to be successful on Switch and PS4, but sometimes PC and Xbox One gamers run into issues. Namely, network errors can cause an issue where Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers. While this doesn’t happen often, it is actually a common mistake with a very simple fix.

Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live error fix

In most cases, Smite cannot connect to Xbox Live servers because the service is experiencing interruptions. This error seems to occur every few months, usually when the Xbox Live servers are down. The connection should work again when service is restored.

First things first: If the game fails to connect to Xbox Live, don’t try to change any settings or reinstall the game. Instead, head to Stocking detector to see if other users are reporting failures. If so, there’s a good chance something is causing network outages.

In the event of an interruption or maintenance, you will not be able to connect to the game’s servers. Xbox Live may have problems or the Smite servers themselves may be under maintenance. Either way, the problem is almost certainly on the server side, which means you don’t have to do anything to fix the situation.

Instead, you’ll just have to wait. Service disruptions are annoying, but in an internet-connected world, they’re common. These problems don’t just affect Smite either; Xbox Live issues can theoretically affect any number of games on the platform.

Otherwise, you might have a problem with your local network connection. This should be pretty obvious, as you wouldn’t be able to browse the web or play other games. Hardware faults with your PC or Xbox console can also cause these kinds of errors, but again, you will notice the problem in other software. Server crashes are simply much more common.

If Smite keeps saying he can’t connect to Xbox Live servers, you’ll have to wait a while. Something is causing network interruptions, which is why the game cannot connect. Normal service should be restored after the outage or maintenance period is complete and the servers are brought back online.

“Diablo III: Reaper of Souls” has appeared as a free game on Xbox Live Gold, and it’s not an exercise. Redditors were the first to spot the game through the subscription platform, but is only available for console platforms as there is one “buy-to-play” game left on PC. The company has not announced the availability of this popular 2012 game.

Prior to that, “Diablo 3 ″ stayed at its lowest for a while, as the last buzz it made was when it was teased by Blizzard Entertainment for the Nintendo Switch. The game has been around for quite some time and remains a popular classic that complemented the original “Diablo” game series trilogy.

The entire “Diablo’s” franchise has been the subject of several remakes and remasters for various platforms including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game was originally released by Blizzard on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, macOS, and Classic Mac OS.

This means that the game is very old and originally released in 2012. However, it only shows that it is a timeless classic as gamers were very excited to play the game. Although it is an old title, “Diable” still made noise when Editors first noticed that the game was available through Xbox Live Gold.

No further details have been revealed on this matter.

Some Redditors are also unsure how long this game will be available on Xbox Live Gold, and most of its fans have already downloaded it so it won’t be lost or unavailable.

‘Diablo 3’ How to download

(Photo: Diablo / Facebook)

Users only need to have a Xbox Live Gold subscription to get the game, and it is known that it costs $ 9.99 per month. To access it, gamers just need to browse their Xbox Live Gold tabs on their console stores and download the game directly to their consoles to get to work.

Note that accessing it through the computer or web browsers would not guarantee that the download would work, much less that it would be seen by players through the platform. There was no explanation why it’s limited to Xbox Live Gold for consoles and why it was a surprise drop for gamers this month.

Earlier this year, Xbox Live Gold already ended its subscription allowing gamers to play the more than 50 titles available for multiplayer setups.

‘Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls’ what to expect

Diablo 3

We knew that the previous games available for free via Xbox Live Gold were “Rock of Ages III: Make or Break”, “Darksiders III” and “Lost Planet 3”.

When it comes to “Diablo III: Reaper of Souls,” gamers should expect its popular hack-and-slash RPG game that heavily features elements from the previous game in this release. Nothing has changed, and it is still the public’s favorite “Diablo 3”, only that it is offered now and remains a timeless classic for the console.

Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil temporarily free Xbox Live Gold

A few hours ago, the popular Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil video game was free to download for Xbox Live Gold members for some reason, but later it got fixed.

A reddit user reported that the game, for some reason, is free to download on consoles. On the Microsoft store page, gamers had to pay to play it but it was the opposite on the console side. Everyone frantically took the opportunity to download it right away and surprisingly they were able to play it. They could even download the DLCs without a hitch and play the Necromancer class.

Some have speculated that it must have been a mistake on Microsoft’s side because the website’s store page still has it upon purchase. There must have been a bug in the code and the developers haven’t figured it out yet. Others thought more about the fact that Activision Blizzard is currently having a lawsuit and Microsoft is taking advantage of the situation, which was not at all true.

A few hours later since its discovery, the game is no longer playable unless they own it. This was to be the solution for them for those who have already downloaded the game. They would not be able to play it even if they have already downloaded it in full. Several reddit users confirmed that it was no longer playable and had to remove it from the library.

At least that was several hours of free Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil games for those lucky enough to download earlier.
